TBH if i were Yinglou when Yuan Chuwan came back i'd sit him down secretly and plan to overthrow the empire with him and he'd be on board with that. Hongli is a terrible person in this series, much less than Ruyi but still up there.

The emperor was butt hurt that she wasn't chasing after him. He thought she was secretly coming on to him for a better life. He was upset that she chose his brother in law over him. It's the reason why he denied his marriage request from the beginning. His wife knew the score/she called him out. I would've done the same thing too. It just shows how selfish the emperor truly is deep down inside. He had so many concubines but he was never satisfied. He chose to separate them for selfish reasons. His wife tried to tell him that he brother would never get over what happened no matter who he married. She knew her brother was going to suffer/she didn't want that for him but her husband's selfishness was to big to over come.

im so thankful that they make royal feast ,only i can move on from this heartbreaking end for yinglo and fuheng,or else i still dislike the emperor forever 😄 🤣

He was so used to getting what he wanted that it never once occurred to him that he can't have everything he wants. He insisted that she was trying to get close to him by using the empress but every action she took showed that she wasn't at all interested in him. He knew the only way that he could have her was to separate her from the man she truly loved. He was selfish to the bitter in. His wife called him out on his BS and I was so happy that she did. She knew the reason he refused the marriage request was because he wanted her for himself. I'm glad she chose to fight for her love instead of giving in to his emotional blackmail.
