Take it step by step be familiar with threading, learn how to skip back and forth threough colours and stitches, this will come in handy if you get a thread break because you will. Know that all embroidery mavchines are possessed and if you turn you back on them even for a second you can guarantee that they will misbehave and break a thread or needle or play up. They know when you are not paying attention so always watch it stitching dont walk off and leave it. If you need any help just ask. It is a steep learning curve and you will make mistakes, it is part of the learning process but teh key isnt making them but how you get around it so that nobody would ever know. Never be in a hurry to unhoop your work when things go wrong as it is alway easier to fix it if you havent unhooped it. Have fun and enjoy your machine.

Julie It is one of the best embroidery machines you can have in my opinion I love mine. In the first year I had it I did over 40,000,000 stitches with it and it still stitches as good as the first day. I would advice having it serviced yearly though to keep it in tip top condition. I do advise reading the user manual that came with your machine and keep it to hand until you get used to all it's functions. Did you know that you can pay for an upgrade and it then unlocks the arm so that you can use an 8x2 hoop? The 8x12 hoop comes with the upgrade package? That allows you to make untold things with it. If you need help just ask if I can help I will.Happy stitching

Hi Debbie no I havent my machine is a V3 so embroidery only and I don't do free motion embroidery. I do know that for FME you have to be able drop the feed dogs so that you can move the hoop freely and I would allso assume that you need a special foot maybe. I would suggest contacting Brother to see if they can offer you any advice, they would certainly be able to tell you if it is possible on your machine. If you machine is suitable, then I would suggest that you find some free motion embroidery videos on You Tube I would think that once you have set your machine up in a suitable fashion then it would be the same no matter what brand of machine someone had. I hope you find what you need to get going. Sorry I cant be of more help.

Hi Caroline, Congratulations you have bought a fabulous machine. Sorry no I dont have any more videos on the V3 as such as I covered pretty much everything you need to get going with it. I made this video to allow you to get stitching as quickly as possible by showing you the settings you are most likely going to useMy channel is dedicated to showing how to make things on your machine no matter what brand you are using. Many of the designs are freebies and they are all from Kreative Kiwi Embroidery. They also have a fabulous Facebook group dedicated to their own designs and to helping newcomers to machine embroidery. I have posted the link below. Join the group (anser the 4 joining questions or your application will be rejected) and you will get lots of ideas I do have a video that shows you how to use your V3's built in fonts for personalising your projects.I show how to access and set up within the settings but that's about it I will put a link in below to a few of them for you. I strongly suggest reading the user manual that came with it before you do anything as it will give you lots of information and keep it close to your machine so that you can refer to it when you need to. I am not sure what else you need to know about the V3 but if you tell me I will see if I can incorporate it into a future video for you. Hi so glad I found someone who can help me,,, can you tell me what tension settings should i do for a sweater? when i left it at default it had skips in the stitching ?
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jade I can't I am afraid that is something you need to adjust and work out, all fabrics are different and it might not be the tension. Skipping stitches can be caused by a few different things: Upper tension is too tight.- Adjust the upper tension of the thread. The upper thread is threaded incorrectly. - Check to be sure you are using the correct combination of fabric, thread, and needle. The needle is bent or blunt.- Replace the needle. Start by checking that the machine is threaded properly and that there is isn't any thread caught in the tension disks by running thin fishing line or non coated dental floss through to clear any clogs as it prevents the thread from sitting in the tensioner disks properly and this can stop it from stitching properly. Then try changing the needle. Then try changing the top thread tension bit by bit. If the bobbin thread is showing on top, that means the top thread is pulling more so you need to loosen it as there is too much tension. I hope you get it sorted

Kay, this is a very informative video. I enjoyed it. One question. When you have the design loaded into the machine from the USB, and you want to transfer it to the machine, would you then tell it to save it to the machine, in stead of saying cancel this design?
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Virginia, thank you. You open the file on your machine from the USB key and when you push the button that says embroidery that puts it into the machines memory ready to stitch, then when finished you close it and it will delete the design from the memory ready for the next one that you load in. You save designs on your computer or external drive or cloud, not on your embroidery machine.

Will you be doing another video on the V3? Mine arrives soon. I would love a tutorial on combining designs and altering them etc :) Thanks x Also what format does it use? DST?
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sally your machine uses PES format. I am not planning on doing another V3 video as I covered most things in this one. My videos are aimed at a wide audience to show everyone with an embroiery machine how to make certain designs, no matter which machine they have got rather than brand specific. In this video I showed how to combine two files: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d6qVd91mtdzRl6c.html I'm not sure what you mean by altering a design. But I do urge caution when opening embroidery files in any embroidery software, as it can change them without you noticing and cause unexpected stitch outs in that the machine might not stop where it is supposed to or you might get stitches jumping around where they shouldnt or it might change the size and it will no longer fit in your hoop. You need a good knowledge of how your software works, I cant show how to change things across all different software brands. You also need good knowledge of how the design you want to alter works and goes together so that you can check that the software hasnt changed anything it shouldnt. If you mean how to add text in software then I have a video showing how to go about it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/icuClK2Y27W8j6c.html In this video I show how to add text using your embroidery maches built in fonts. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/idJ3mLx4s7Slg4U.html I hope this helps. Happy stitching.

Hi Kay, I watched this video just over a year ago when I bought my V3 and found it very informative. I'm writing today because I'm curious about the speeds of the machine, so I did a search on KZfaq and up popped this V3 tutorial again. As soon as I heard your voice, I knew I was listening to Kay. ( I have watched loads of your tutorials and have bought many designs from Kreative Kiwi). So my question is, what is the optimum speed I should use? When it's running at 1000spm, it frightens me to death. I try to not be afraid of the machine and I know I'm being silly as It's made to work at that speed, but I'm afraid I'll break it!!! So the speed....... Does it depend on what you're actually stitching out, if it's stitch intensive etc? Any advice you could give me would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance. Una x
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 2 жыл бұрын
Run with the speed that you feel comfortable with as there isn't an optimal speed per se. Embroidery isnt a race and I know we like to get things finished quickly but for qualities sake somethings you cannot hurry. Certain threads such as metallics need to stitch at the slowest 350 spm or they will shread. Anything that is thick such as a couple of layers of vinyl again slow is best. Listen to your machine as it stitches and it will tell you if it is happy or not. If it is banging or making more noise than normal then slow it down. If you thread keeps breaking or you are getting skips stitches again slow it down. A lot depends on your machine and two machines can have different preferences even for the same threads or fabrics. I hope this helps you.

Hi Julie, most importantly if you are completely new to machine embroidery I suggest that you contact your dealer and ask them for a few lessons on to learn how to operate it. You need to know the basics such as how to load a file, thread it, load a bobbin, how to change the settings such as speed foot height tension, how to skip backward and forwards through stitches and colours, the very basics. I can show you how to make things with it with my stitch along video but you need to set your machine up ready to stitch. So that would be the first and most important step. I suggest that if you can set your machine up you practice what I have show you in this video. After that if you look through my video channel I have done many videos with free Kreative Kiwi designs so why not pick one that can be made in a single hooping to start with and stitch along with the video, links to the designs are given in the video description along with any other important information. Kreative Kiwi also run a wonderful free one on one mentoring service where you are paired up with someone in your time zone who can help you to work through a designs step by step at your own pace in real time. I’m an artist, can I upload my own designs to this machine?
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Filo, if you mean can you scan your artwork and save it to a format a machine can recognize, no this isn't possible. All designs have to be digitized and created so that they stitch out in the correct way, in the correct order, with the correct stitches as well as being in a format that the machine can read. Of course you can learn to digitize so that you can create designs that an embroidery machine can understand and stitch but it isn't a 5 minute learning curve, it takes a lot of time, money and practice. You need special software in which to create your design which doesn't come cheap then you have to learn how to use it and again it isn't a 5 minute play about in it and you can create a stitch prefect design. It takes time practice and patience, an understanding of how to use an embroidery machine, an understanding of how designs are created so that they stitch out correctly, in the correct order and at the correct size with being too dense, without having too many jumps and trims and an understanding of how different types of fabric behave when stitched so that you can digitize to allow for those differences among other things. You do need a machine to test out any design you digitize too. I would suggest getting a reconditioned embroidery machine from a reputable dealer and learning how to use it first and how different types of designs are stitched such as applique, free standing lace etc. then think about whether you want to go to the additional expense of software and learning or whether you would prefer to pay someone to digitize your artwork for you. Machine embroidery is not a cheap hobby whichever direction you go in but it is good fun and an enjoyable pastime once you make friends with your machine and learn it's capabilities and how and what you can make with it. I hope this helps you.
