This song is one of their latest examples of how they master all their playing techniques. Tremolo picking, harmonics, abstract tunings, the combination of effects, melodies and bridge, catchy but precise lyrics, Steve drumming is on point, clear and noisy, Kim bass crunch is always the strawberry on the cake carrying all that noise. Just beautiful.

Same here. I listen to a bunch of SY plus Thurston's amazing solo stuff every day. Btw you use the writing name I ripped off from "that guy" who didn't want to use his own name, except I go Samuel Clemens XXIII and haven't published anything.

Bs this band works in unison and all of them together are sonic youth. Sonic youth doesn’t exists without all members. I’d say the band would agree as well.

Those in the know know about Steve. But to say he carries this band on his back is ridiculous, sorry but SY is the fruit of the universe bringing together 4 extremely talented and hard working artists. What your seeing in this set is high art.

Epic! The only time they played in my city Guadalajara, Mexico I could not attend was a teenager without my parents' permission and without money, it is one of the few things I regret in my life not attending that concert.

My first live show when I was 15 in 2004! It was AMAZING! They pulled a double encore and finished the set with Teenage Riot! This track right here tho! What a performance!

God i remember when i heard this album and sonic nurse. They became my favorite Sy albums tell this day. Rather ripped came out on my 16th birthday im 32 and this song still gives me such a beautiful moment always

I can't quite work out how the two bassists thing is working here. Must be subtle, just like the incredible way the two guitarists play together. Either way it's fantastic.

For a couple years I actually thought “the basement” was a place Radiohead recorded 😂 In the last month I’ve discovered at least 40-50 videos of amazing bands and many were new to me. I know sonic youth, but not like this. I love the basement sessions so much. Every video recorded in my studio is called “Manupod Sessions” as sort of a shoutout to the band that inspired me to become a musician and gave me a career for over a decade! Oh man what id do to see a basement session with The Mars Volta before they officially end the final chapter of their story…
