Is that what they're called spring isolators? The black circles
@Alexhaav Жыл бұрын
Yessir. I’ve seen them called like friction sheets or something like that before too.

So I should be able to remove that lower mount collar (the thickest one) and be fine if I plan to max out the coilover? (Without doing anything else and maintaining spring preload.) Love the vids!
@Alexhaav3 жыл бұрын
Yessir as long as you can still jam the collar above it to keep the mount fixed in place 👌

If switching to a 4” spring from a longer spring, do the struts need to be revalved?
@Alexhaav3 жыл бұрын
Nope. Good to go.
@Deselectings73 жыл бұрын
If my shocks are valved for 8k would going with 30k springs absolutely destroy them? Should i go with something like 20k to get the stiff i want and not overdoing it on the shocks
@Alexhaav3 жыл бұрын
It wouldn't necessarily destroy them. It will shorten the life of the shock and it won't ride as well as a properly valved one would, but slapping stiffer springs on without revalving is done more often than not.

@@Alexhaav ok cool, one more question, if im currently on a 7 inch spring maxed out and swap to a 5inch spring will it actually lower 2 inches?
@Alexhaav3 жыл бұрын
@@Deselectings7 it would allow you 2 more inches of potential to go lower. Whether that drop will come from sagging spring or adjusting the lower mount will depend on coilover design and what part of it is actually maxed. I talk about how these concepts work in this video. Ideally, the spring should be preloaded and the height adjustment should come from the lower mount but if lower mount limitations exist, sagging spring may be the only option to go lower until you get an entirely new and shorter strut altogether.

So if you are only changing the springs out *with the isolators of course* the preload is not effected or needs to be reset ? Thanks !
@Alexhaav Жыл бұрын
You’d wanna release tension before swapping the springs so then you’d preload the new springs once installed accordingly.

where are the helper spring to main spring fittings from?
@Alexhaav9 ай бұрын
When you buy Swift helper springs, they should come with the spring stack adapter!
@joeltorrez5316 Жыл бұрын
would there be any issues running 5” swift springs on the stock tophats on BC’s
@Alexhaav Жыл бұрын
Assuming the spring is still long enough to be preloaded, no. Even if there is a little bit of spring sag, it is okay.

Did the center Assembly that holds the Radial bearing come with the top hats or the radial bearing or did you buy it separately?

I get mine from Defined Performance but there are a lot of other sites like springrates, IIR, etc

What do you do with your dampening?

I’m not sure. Maybe if you hit something hard enough.

@Alexhaav3 жыл бұрын
@@diegogalvan4427 yes but you would have to remove the ID62 spring isolators or replace it with the flat washer style isolator.
@Alexhaav3 жыл бұрын
@@diegogalvan4427 spring rate is all up to personal preference. If you want a soft comfortable ride, go lower like 14k. Stiff ride 50k. Somewhere in the middle? It's all preference honestly.
