Another thing is to NOT over tightened the front and rear axle nuts. Many failed seals/oil leaks caused by that mistake. Greeting from Vietnam.
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 6 жыл бұрын
OVER tightening the axle nut will break the axle bolt!!! And if the fracture occurs during riding, the broken axle will destroy the seals , and the entire motorcycle can be destroyed in a motorcycle accident. This is not the over tightening that destroys the seals (because the seals are protect by COLLAR), the tightening is metal to metal, not metal to rubber. The broken screw causes all the damage, which is really dangerous !!! The destruction of the seals is the smallest problem, the big problem is the possibility to body injury include DEATH

Looking back at the video, I think you're right, I did not notice. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h55hh8Z6y7C1j2Q.html It seems that the leak is from upper seal that is an O-ring seal. The O-ring held seven years and 35,000km, so I do not think the failure is due to over tightening, although I admit it's possible. very weird. thank you!!!

I purchase parts from several different Internet stores, as well as from local suppliers here in Israel. I check prices, and invite where the price is the cheapest, including the shipping price of course. I do not know what the situation in Spain. I purchase parts from Greece, others from England, Thailand, USA and more. One way to find a part is to type in Google its catalog number.

Hi matey, a number of people want to make DIY high pressure compressors (4000psi/200 bar) for refilling paintball guns- People are discussing the idea of using motorbike forks to do it - they look meaty enough. Do you know what pressures they are designed to handle? And do you have any suggestions or interest in looking into it... it would be a very popular video I reckon. I might try myself, but need to know the pressure tolerances of forks, plus I don't have a lathe and am worried about getting stuck 99% of the way through the process. With a proper air filter/dryer these could be used to fill diving bottle, too (reserve air source for filling paintball guns). Any help or ideas gratefully received!

Excellent video. But I have a question , changing oil on my forks I've notice that the left fork spring is smaller than the right one . Is that normal or is time to replace it? Or put a spacer?
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 6 жыл бұрын
I did not check if there was a gap between the two lengths of springs, I only checked that they separately meet the specification. A spacer with soft or weak steel will cause damage. I would not insert a spacer. What lengths did you measure? Because in any case a difference of one millimeter would make no difference. I have also shown that when you start ordering a few parts, it comes out more expensive than purchasing the whole fork, so you have to pay attention to that as well.

One before 2007 and the other after 2007, because according to the Hynes Guide, this is the gap between them, two centimeters. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h55hh8Z6y7C1j2Q.html

Hello sir, my lower damper bolt just spinning, I cannot get the bolt out. What should I do?
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 2 жыл бұрын
4:06 You need to put the spring and the spacer back in place, close the fork from the top, then push the piston inward. The force applied on the damper in such a position should stop the rotation of the damper and allow you to open the screw. Maybe you will need the help of another person to hold the piston pressed.

@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 5 жыл бұрын
I'm not trying to say anything, I'm just sharing. My films are not a course in mechanics. Besides, the new pair costs 56$, my patch cost 90$. I'm talking about the cost of the parts and materials, in the garage you will also pay for the wages of the mechanic's work. The total expenses, and as an amateur mechanic, the repair cost me about 90$, while a new pair of forks costs about 56$. You can also see this as a kind of self-humor. In retrospect, it seems that only the replacement of the upper seal was sufficient. That O-Ring cost only 2.9$

Absolutely true, but in that case(Honda INNOVA), I could not find a way to make the repair without that special tool which cost me 28$ The special tool was added to the general account. But again, it was impossible without him, so as an amateur mechanic who did not have that special tool, I added his price to the general cost.
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 5 жыл бұрын
@Gary Dodgson Excellent thought, of course you can produce such a tool yourself, or use a Socket in a suitable diameter. Either way, the set that I bought, and made from aluminum, is cheaper than the price of professional tools. There is a unique difficulty here for this particular model, the seal is adapted to the pipe with extreme pressure. That's why you need a lot of strength And power to bring it in place. Using strong force on the delicated seal, without a special tool, will destroy the delicate springs that sit inside him. See the comment attached in the beginning of the comments area, a comment of Tyler Durden from Vietnam.

Yes, the shock absorber is the same for both models, the injected one and the one with the carburetor. A less viscous oil is possible, I'm not an expert on that subject, but as far as I understand, the amount is the same amount of oil. You can also change the pair of rear shock absorbers to softer ones.

It is mainly the replacement of the oil, and the replacement of the seals. Note, for me all the components were found to be OK, but I replaced because I had the parts to replace. In my particular case, the malfunction that caused the oil to leak was a defective O-Ring in the top Left Fork.

What is a good rear suspension for innova? Also can an aftermarket shock be installed with the chain cover?
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. If the aftermarket part is the same size of course there shouldn't be a problem. If you have a doubt please ask the seller and ask him for a commitment on this issue. If you order an upgraded part it will be possible not fit, and then adjustments will be needed. Either way, only a qualified mechanic can do the job safely, so I encourage you to contact a qualified mechanic. From what I know sometimes there is an adjustments that need to be made on the plastic cover . Maybe sometimes an adjustments be necessary to the metal chain cover? The original shock absorber is relatively hard and gives more stability, and a soft one giving more comfortebl riding. In countries where there are leagues of sports competition, there are also a number of other upgrades. KZfaq has begun to block iterant links to stores, but you can share knowledge and tell us what brand and model you are debating about? what the name of the store you are going to purchase from? at what price? thank you very much.

@@MyINNOVAMotorcycling Thanks. I am a mechanic. But i do not work on motorcycle but large diesel engines and generators in a powerhouse (small ones are 1 MW , large ones 9MW gensets) Recently i purchased a motorcycle and i want to do maintenance works myself as the garages are very expensive and they cheat a lot. Honda innova / wave series is very fuel economic, thats why i bought it. I am yet to learn the maintenance works of small gasoline engines. Its pretty much similar to big engines. Infact even easier as its only having one cylinder unlike twenty or 16 cylinders in the engines i am working on. The default rear suspension is a little hard for me and for many passengers hence i was thinking of buying an aftermarket shock with the oil reservoir. Do you recommend?
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 4 жыл бұрын
@@SaapeXD I am not a certified professional mechanic, I am a very high level non-qualified mechanic because I did not did state certification exams. Either way, mechanics are very nice people, in every profession there are unfair people, I don't get a sweeping statement blaming mechanics for "they cheat a lot". If you also have a good mechanic hands, and you have the tools, that's another matter.A self-repair(DIY) is very enjoyble and thar has advantages, for example: you don't have to waste a time for accessing the garage. And yes, engines no matter the size, built from similar assemblies, this small volume engine means less screws, less weight, less special tools, and therefore easier to maintain. I had a successful experience with the absorber of the Greek CUB model 2011(Nipponia) , yes, there are absorbers that are more comfortable, and as I wrote may require cutting in the plastic cover for adjustments.

The link doesn't work, assuming I watched the one you mean.....YSS All New Gold Series G-Series RC302-340T....It's a shock absorber for racing. It is very expensive ,relative to the standard. It can be ordered tuned according to your weight. And of course, its wide structure in the upper area(the nitrogen gas tank) probably requires a change in the rear plastic cover of the motorcycle. It seems unnecessary to me, you claimed that you are with a scooter to save costs. On the other hand, it's a quality shock absorber, only you know what's good for you.

@@MyINNOVAMotorcycling What's the best method? I measured the available fork travel and it showed 84 mm and I also learned that I should leave a clearance of 5 mm so that I get a 79 mm fork travel. Will the oil height method achieve this?
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 3 жыл бұрын
I do not know the numbers 84mm or a clearance of 5mm. I know what I wrote down for you earlier. The two methods I have listed are equally good. The two methods I presented work when the spring is inside, and the tube is inserted all the way into the cylinder.

I do not know the manufacturer's recommendations for your model. More oil will give you a shock absorber with more rigidity, less oil (more air) will give you a softer shock absorber. The main thing is that on both sides you put the same amount of oil.

This job isn’t for the faint hearted! 😂 Seriously guys, even if you have the knowhow, it’s is seriously tricky requiring professional tools. The time it took me outweighed the reward of doing it myself. Never again. Will be going to garage next time! So please THINK before even attempting this job.

Sir thank you for sharing. Yes, this is a job that requires a relatively high skills. I failed the first time. The idea in DIY is not to save money, it's the enjoyment of the hobby. You pay money for hobbies, in this case the money for learning from your mistakes, or the money for special tools and so on. Do-it-yourself mechanics is a nice hobby, not the cheapest hobby, there are cheaper hobbies than that. Those who do not have time, or those who do not have the patience for this hobby, the cheapest for them is to go to a qualified mechanic that they trust on. In the case of the Innova front forks, sometimes it is cheaper to buy new ones than to repair the used ones, and then the whole job of replacing them is much less challenging, and a lot easier.

@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 5 жыл бұрын
According to the manufacturer's instructions, it is recommended to replace fork oil every two years (Hopefully I am not mistaken about time). If you will decide to change oil, you will need to replace all the seals. In my case, I opend the fork because there was an oil breakout from one of the seals (the O RING at the top edge). When there is an oil leak, dirt will be stucking on the shock absorber, and you can also see signs of oil moisture. When the oil begins to come out, the fork stops functioning, and what you feel is only the strong vibrations of the spring, in such a situation it is very dangerous to ride.

If the shock absorber is soft because the oil has escaped, then you need to replace the seals and put in a new fork oil. The shock absorber can also be stiffened by putting in thicker fork oil (depending on what you have now). I put in 10W fork oil, and I think there is also 15W and 20W. Other methods: insert a stronger spring, or insert a longer spacer (which will make the existing spring to be harder).

Hi. At your request I have checked again, these are the minimum dimensions that appear in Haynes Guide No. 4926 on page 5 * 1 I do not know if the measurements are too short, I know that these are the minimum measurements according to Haynes' guide, less than that, according to the guide., the spring needs to be replaced. @@mogias7 The standard size for the 2003 models is 316.3 cm, at least according to the Haynes guide, so I think you are holding the wrong spring. On the other hand, according to the same guide the standard for the 2007 model is 328.8 cm, and I measure 350 cm (time 8:23) , so I do not know how much we can trust that data in the guide. It happens, not much, even rare, but it happens that in books, even technical books of the manufacturers themselves, you will find mistakes. Bottom line, it's possible that (1) your spring did not fit your model, (2) old weakened spring , or (3) maybe you forgot to put one of the spacers? Or other assembly malfunction?
