Three nurses who found themselves missing hearty Filipino breakfasts while fighting on the front lines of New York City’s Covid-19 outbreaks have taken matters into their own hands by opening their own restaurant. “When we got off from work, we were so hungry and we were craving Filipino food,” said nurse Jude Canela, who opened Bilao with friends Joan Calanog and Maricris Dinopol close to their hospital in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

. Filipinos, like many Asians, LOVE FOOD! You can judge this, when you arrive in a country, by counting how many food stalls or restaurants you pass by before arriving at your house or hotel. . Here in Sydney, you can count them with just one hand, some of them CLOSED outside of lunch or dinner hours! . MABUHAY po! And may your business prosper! And thank you too, for your service too as a frontline worker in the fight against COVID et al! .

It's not that western don't love food, it's because of the car centric and suburb nature of most cities which alienates walking and family owned restaurants. France have many bread shop in every corners, Italy have many pasta restaurants and so on since they have better accessible city than USA. That's why this exist in New York which has dense city and relatively better public infrastructure and not on suburban California were many Filipino American resides.
