I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

Investing in the stock market has HISTORICALLY provided higher returns than other forms of investment. According to Morningstar, the average annual return for the S&P 500 index, which measures the performance of 500 large-cap stocks, was approximately 10% from 1926 to 2020.

Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over $610k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.

in my town amazon was looking to build a distribution warehouse on a piece of unoccupied land. the homes near the site aggressively protested against it for a number of reason, mostly increased traffic on that street. this is a street i take to work quite often and would see their big lawn signs encouraging people to vote NO to the building construction. this went on for probably 6 months. every week some of these signs were blocked from view..... by standing amazon delivery vans delivering packages to the very same people protesting against the buildings construction, which, ironically caused traffic back ups on that street.

1:14:36 Correcting the word "listen" with the word "detect", was incorrect on the Amazon employee's side and was done at least twice in this documentary. To "detect" insinuates that the device would be obtaining information from "other methods/other senses" not just listening. But to my knowledge the device isn't looking at you, it's not touching you, it's not scanning your body with a heatmap & trying to read your lips. It is in fact LISTENING, which was the correct choice of word description.

The more I listened to this documentary the more I was able to see and hear the real Amazon. Certain responses given by the CEO let me know that they couldn't care less about their employees. Just because someone shows up to a job everyday doesn't mean they like it. Some people work because they are trying to take care of their family. There are all sorts of reasons why people stay and people leave. This CEO is so out of touched with the employees but he doesn't care. These men are driven by results. If you can't do it, they will find someone who can because they think that they are powerful enough to dictate outcomes. Simply put, their evil. In their minds they are good guys, but they are totally detached from reality. They only see numbers.

As an Amazon seller, I can honestly say that that they don’t care about us. They invite you to sell on their platform and when you find items to resell or even have them manufactured, they gather this data and then go,directly to the manufacturer and undercut you and you are stuck with inventory you can no longer sell at a profit. With time you have to learn to time it and get in and get out before Amazon takes you out.

@@bradhicks4057 Is it so naive? PBS has consistently done wonderful work, as has NPR, relatively speaking. There are usually not many topics that would totally alienate the government as a whole to the point where every legislature would be OK totaly de-funding PBS. In any case, it doesn't seem very much like PBS gets told what they can and can't broadcast, but perhaps that is also naive. Maybe PBS could be even better, but there's really no mechanism to fund it through donations. The US people just don't care enough.

My son went from working hard on a hay farm to being a package driver for Amazon for one dollar more an hour. He loved it at first but that love quickly wore off. As he kept making his delivery time goals each week, they kept pushing him more and more without any bonuses. It was never good enough. He was working 12 hour shifts. He was exhausted, going up flights up stairs carrying packages daily. The better he was, they more they worked him until he completely gave out. Once he tripped on a step snd he was terrified to tell management so he wouldn't get yelled at n get a mark against him or get fired. I cleaned his elbow and super glued his elbow skin together and put butterfly stitches on it and sent him back to work. A year later, after 2 years of no raises, tighter goals to meet, no recognition for safety, and reaching his goals, he gave up n quit.

What people don’t realize is that you cannot continually improve and grow as a company without having employee turnover. At Amazon, they have obviously realized that they MUST have high turnover to keep improving and growing. Why? Human beings want comfort and stability. When humans are comfortable, they like staying comfortable. A comfortable organization, just like a comfortable person, will stop improving. You cannot improve your abilities and talents without discomfort. So, Amazon realized that every human has a limit, and that people will leave when they reach that limit. It’s a simple factor that Amazon has accepted and built into its business model. It sucks for the burned out employee, but there are 100 people waiting to take every employee’s position. Especially the positions that require little talent or skill (like driving, sorting packages, pushing buttons and pulling levers). Keeping people in those positions for 5-10 years isn’t realistic so rather than struggling to make employees stay, Amazon sees it as a natural process and they’ve set up their business to account for natural human behavior. As soon as the high turnover positions and work can be done by AI and robots, there will be no more of those jobs. Right now it’s just cheaper to cycle people through those positions, accepting that people will leave after an average of __ months on the job. If people want a comfy place to work, they shouldn’t choose to work for any of the most successful organizations in the world.

Excellent piece of journalism. Watching it, I was amazed at how simillar a lot of the themes were to documentaries of Carnegie and Vanderbilt! Amazon keeps using the phrase "obsessed with our customers" --- seems appropriate, because they actually do seem a bit obsessed -- like stalkers wanting to know everything about us and capture all of our data. The documentary makes good points about the "listening devise" alexa. I didn't know it was inspred by Bazos' love of Star Trek TOS. But the world he is creating is more comparable to Caprica (Battlestar prequil) than Star Trek. Finally, I saw an interview with Bezos on the Lex Fridman podcast, and he comes across as an innocent philanthropist with nothing but good in his heart. Now I'm thinking, ha ha ha (evil cackle).

I never once left there feeling physically exhausted and pretty sure I never broke a sweat. This was in early winter, but it was also in South Carolina. I think people confuse mental exhaustion with physical exhaustion, but working there was definitely mentally exhausting for me personally. The structured workflow process necessary for a company with that amount of product volume is one that “feels” very overbearing in nature, especially for this extremely soft and fragile society we’ve created in this country. Justin, housemate of Levi Thomas and Dana in Bloomington, IN in 2004 was stated as his nephew. Justin also hung around with Jason Graham and Kaylan Randolph at the time. Many of the bios on the web are fabrications and more closely resemble marketing. Apparently the world is satisfied with Bezos, Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, Chad Hurley and other good luck clowns.

no no no ---- he has said many many many times that big conglomerates or companies SHOULD BE scrutinised so as to anticipate issues someone from the outside can see that he cannot see. He said it in his interview in India and other places. The one fear about Amazon is if anyone other than Bezos is put in charge of it. Imagine Trump at the head of this empire!! Not that he would have the vision and work ethic, but if he were put in charge or manage to take over, a person like Trump, a true megalomaniac, would use it for evil. Bezos won at capitalism, that is the system he was born in to play, not his fault. But he would have won in ANY system he played in.

@o- Not everyone. When the guy came to my door offering a free "RING" I said no. There's no ALEXA, I can turn my own lights. I have never ordered anything through AMAZON. I still go to manufacturer's and distributor's websites and order from them. Sadly though my my wife has a KINDLE . For a man concerned about the earth I can't believe it sells such a piece of dreck. When the battery goes dead and won't recharge any longer you just throw it away and buy a new one. I think she's on her fourth one. In case you've pegged me as a Luddite let me dispel that notion. I'm an electronics technician and a computer tech. I had a company for over 30 years that designed computer networks. I am not anti-technology. But I am anti-monopolist robber baron. This guy Bezos makes Rockefeller, Morgan, Gould, Firestone, Edison, Vanderbilt etc. look like kids selling lemonade from a stand. We can only hope he finally runs into the antitrust laws.

Only if you let it. Personally, I do shop on Amazon some, but don't have Alexa, Ring, Prime or any of those other "life accelerating products created by Amazon. Nor do I have FB, Insta, Twitter or any daily mainstream social media except YT. And yes, I'm aware even with that little bit of presence, I'm still monitored, but my life is still somewhat algorithm free and somewhat in my control unlike so many people who are so "bought in". You are right though it's scary..

The stock market rally started Thursday strong but reversed solidly lower, undercutting the lows of the prior few days. It's a reason to be cautious in the very short term. But the pullback could be setting the stage for another solid advance. Tesla (TSLA) continued to climb Thursday, even though the EV giant pared intraday gains. TSLA stock has now more than doubled from its Jan. 6 bear-market low,I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $238k stock portfolio, what’s the best way to take advantage of this bear market?

The duality exists in all of us and cannot be extinguished. God bless brother! 🙏🙌

Both the neo-liberal and conservative side of things do not mind Amazon or as a matter of fact any of these big tech. Case in point when congress called these folks for testimony, all conservatives cared about asking is how conservative voices are being silenced. Even the new-liberal wing of democratic party was asking Amazon about how they were killing competition. Dont take my word for it. Just listen fully to the very recent anti-trust hearing in Congress. Now also listen to Bernie Sanders (or your so called boogeyman told about Amazon). Lockdowns are not just put forth by compliance left. It is exactly how its being tackled every where in the world.
