Just a short video discussing the dilemma we’re having this winter with frozen DEF at so many truck stops and a couple other rants. Hope you enjoy. Have a good night. Be safe out there everybody.

I’m not racist. Third world drivers treat our country like where they came from. They think differently than us. It’s just the way it is. No speakie English!

You are giving a lot of credit to the steering wheel holders. It's not their fuel island, they don't give a damn. Spills, trash, etc, there's no respect and no pride left in the industry anymore.

DEF is the reason I sold my brand new Ram 3500 cummins with 7700 miles and bought a 2006 Silverado duramax. When I towed heavy, I could hear my def pump run continuously. Never will own a truck with it again.

Most DEF pumps up north are heated, problem is drivers don't put the cover back down after putting DEF in.

Just In time inventory. Next year all our def will be made in china. But don’t worry folks. They never run low on alcohol or coffee and most importantly,football games will be right on schedule. Everything is great.

All true. How about drivers stop pissing on the fuel island and all over the parking lot. Do you piss on your living room and kitchen floors at home?

I always stop at Coffee Cups in the Dakotas,Hixton Truck stop in WI and Half Sun in Moses Lake if I can for DEF. They are always a lot cheaper than the chains.

The media loves putting fear to those who take their word as gold. Lol, the way you feel about DEF pumps being heated (which is common sense, kudos to Montana), is the way I feel about landing gear on the trailers. I feel it’s so barbaric to have a workout/fight with landing gears. Why isn’t there a button to release the pressure so it’s a whiz to crank it up (that’s my pet peeve). I always ended up with the worst trailers. I believe truck drivers need to take refresher courses annually in trucking etiquette. Pride in their job and surroundings area. I’ve hear horror stories about what truckers do in the men’s restroom. I’m not talking about all men, but quite a lot. Washing their feet in the men’s bathroom sinks instead of taking buying a shower, leaving diarrhea trails into the stall and all over the stall. I mean that’s so gross. I feel so bad for workers at fuel stations. This video was a good rant! Hoping all drivers are safe out there.

So, my advice for “pain free “ landing gear operation is this: most trailers have an automatic air dump in the suspension when the brakes are set. When you drop your trailer, set the brakes but leave the tractor brakes released for a couple minutes while you do your paperwork or whatever. Then set the tractor brakes. Lower the landing gear until it just touches the ground, then release your fifth wheel and drop your suspension. That will take about of the pressure off the landing gear. Also, if you pick up a trailer that is all bound up, try hooking up your airlines (after your fifth wheel is connected and locked) and put air to the trailer to air up the suspension on the trailer. Wait a couple minutes for the air to build and the air bags to inflate. That usually will take a lot of the pressure off the landing gear making it easier to crank up. Thanks for the comments. Be safe out there.

-You need to grab a few extra 2 1/2 gallon def containers and then fill them when you get to a newer Love's et al with the heated pumps and tanks. -These pumps were mostly frozen in Oklahoma last week, Missouri, Illinois. Had to fill at Love's in Bloomington/Normal, IL.

I am so glad I am a retired trucker. Now I read how many people are going to die because of winter. Even seen something about the NFL playing football in the cold. We are from Montana. we know about cold. We live in AZ. now. Every summer, how many will die of heat. The government wants us so dumb that we have to depend on them. It's sad.
@scottcampbell25854 ай бұрын
And do not store def in the truck if it spills you breathing in the fumes.

6:56 if you haven’t noticed….. I mean, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve grabbed the handle from the holder and fuel just spills EVERYWHERE because the last guy is a complete derptard and can’t empty the nozzle like a real man. THAT, and some guys like to strap their handle open so they don’t have to reach for it on early cutoff, and it spills over - I’ve saved some from overflowing.

I was thinking about this a few days ago. They put blankets on the pumps because DEF freezes. Yet, what’s to keep it from freezing once it is in the truck’s tank? If it freezes, the truck isn’t getting DEF right? Isn’t that just like running out of DEF? Doesn’t Does It then cause damage to the engine? Or is all of that a lie? If you told me 30 years ago that I would be paying money to put piss in my truck, I would have told you that you were nuts!

First winter driving trailers any ideas to free up frozen trailer brakes? 2. Recommended battery jumper for diesel truck? Thanks and have a great day.
@jimmyjames64874 ай бұрын
Carry a small propane torch and a hammer. Set tractor brake, and release trailer brakes. Chock trailer wheels. Heat the brake drums in a circular motion. Keep the torch moving. Tap lightly on the drums with a hammer. They'll pop free.

Big hammer for drum brakes, I carry a 3 lb for breaking shoes loose. However, disc brakes rarely freeze to the rotors and if they do, usually just moving the truck back and forth a little will free them up. And definitely carry a good heavy duty set of jumper cables

Last week my trainer told me that my tandems should be all the way forward with an empty trailer in higher winds. What do you think?
@rodtimmer24564 ай бұрын
No in high winds you have more stability when it’s stretched out. Just have to watch the states that have bridge laws.
@reneelemaster32904 ай бұрын
Don't stretch your tandems all the way out. That is horrible advice to give a new driver. That's a great way to hit stuff because it requires wider turning then normal. High winds and empty don't mix..just park. It's not worth getting blown off the road if you can't maintain your lane after slowing down.
@Oldguy3794 ай бұрын
I have found it really doesn’t matter. Empty is empty. I understand why he’d think that, as it does put more of the weight of the trailer in the tandems. In my experience, those dumb side skirts actually help some in high winds, as they mitigate some of the wind getting underneath the trailer. The leaning isn’t the worst part, it’s when it leans enough for the wind to get under the trailer. The best thing to do is find a safe place to park and wait out the wind, if possible
@rodtimmer24564 ай бұрын
@@Oldguy379 I will agree to the skirts. Few years back pulled a double drop with a 14’ curtain from SLC to Charleston. In the wind it was very stable and very light.

J in Mandan will never freeze. It’s piped underground and heated.
@Oldguy3794 ай бұрын
Those are the older Town pumps. Not sure why they haven’t retrofitted those stops. Maybe they figured they’d pump it fast enough to keep it from freezing.
