Frozen River Ice Skating

Ice skating along the frozen river, Bureälven, with long distance (Nordic) ice skates, långfärdsskridskor. It's like an adventure, you follow the ice path and wonder what's behind the next turn. You quickly get up speed and can pretty easily cover long distances. It was snowing a little so the ice had a nice white cover. I took a break for some coffee a an old barn before I returned back.

What a beautiful way to travel! I appreciate all the time it takes to make these beautiful videos. We dont see all the work that needs to be done between clips to make it flow so nicely, and all the editing once you get home. Thanks for all you do.

The scene selection, the pacing, the framing, the timing, the sound and the silence: everything forms a perfect sentiment. Like the shot of the old barn: placed slightly left of center, with its door giving it a 'direction', it looks to the right, hopeful, expectant, knowing? You caught an ellipsis in its winter plumage.

How serene, skating on a perfect frozen river. I don't imagine you get many days in winter where you can skate like that. Soon there will be too much snow. Always a treat to see you make coffee.

Ah, that sense of speed, those sounds... Being the first one on virgin ice, looking listening, sensing - is it ok?... That odd feeling one gets walking after skating... It all loosens dear memories. And a lump in my throat, knowing I will never do this again. Thanks anyway!!

Erik, that was really cool!!! It was like we were a drone flying up river! Really nice, really tranquil. I would have been a little nervous hoppin on so close to where it was water but I know you grew up there and know your stuff. Gliding up that river reminded a lot of some of those fighter battle scenes in Star Wars😃! Thank you for taking the time to set up those action sequences like you did that must’ve took some doing. I am an ice rink skater and rollerskater also. I live in Linares, south of Spain. You can not imagine how much I envy you skating on this frozen surface of the river!

Looks amazing! I went skating myself in Stockholm recently, it was really great. I saw that your carry a Nalgene water bottle in your other videos, do you have issues with the water freezing? Do you carry it in a insulated sleeve?
