FrSky R9M - Discussion & Test, 100mw vs Adaptive Power

*I’ve had the R9M for over 1 year.. After a lot of testing and frustration I’m really happy with this system. In short, I recommend the R9M w/Flex Firmware/Fport, the R9 Slim/Slim+ and Immortal T antennas for the best experience. It’s a shame FrSky decided to put shitty micro ipex connectors on the R9 Mini & R9MM receivers. Haven’t seen anyone talk about this but thought it was worth mentioning! I WILL AVOID BUYING THE R9MINI or R9MM BECAUSE OF THIS!

Unfortunately, my R9M is crap, and I must have received it with some issue. I got a lot of RXLOSS, and the range is concise. I have updated it to ELRS, and I have tested it with different antennas, receives, flight-fields, and radios, consistently the same results, minimal range, and many RXLOSS.

I've had pretty good luck with frsky R9 on the latest firmware. Still dont like what theyre doing to Jumper though so I might switch to crossfire because of it.

do you set rssi scaling to 200 ? I am flying with the r9m and r9 mini and after about 100m I already am around 60 on the rssi :-(... I have the flex firmware and using the Adaptive Power.

Hi, the Adaptive Power is available also on 868mhz EU legal? I've seen that in the Flex firmware you can choose the frequency. Thanks

Hey man, love all the good videos on the R9M. I just bought the module and it works great! I've got it setup on s.port but I can't get adaptative power to work. I'm on OpenTX 2.2.3 and I did update with the flex firmware. Can you tell me how to set it to adaptative? (I got an X9D plus se)

I boguht the R9 with the 4 x R9 MM bundle and So far I have been absolutely dismayed at its performance.. I have had failsafes within 50m of myself. My RSSI jumps all over the place, some RX's (of the same type) work better than other... All in all I am furious at myself for buying it and furious at Frsky for releasing such a piece of shit product... There is a new version of firmware which says it "Fixes the RSSI Bug" but to be honest if im going to take 4 quads apart Im just going to buy crossfire at that point... Im wondering if you have tried that new firmware (version 190117 FCC) and if it makes a difference because the performance you are getting on 100mw is better than what im getting at 1W with external battery and TrueRC True-mox 915 antenna... ANY advice, literally ANY would be so greatly appreciated..Thanks for the video man

IPEX connectors suck even xm+ are the same look at them and they fall off! My r9mm ha ordered T antenna removed stock one with the ipex connector from the board so I just pull ipex off and solder straight to the board. Could be reason for random fail safes connector not soldered properly from factory must only use infrared or something to mount them I didn't use any pressure just fell off and like you other antennas don't fit.
