Hmm, to be honest I can’t remember. What I remember most was her impressive haul. Good question! I realize I could have made a faulty assumption about her. We’re all making assumptions everyday whether we like it or not, but cool if you to point that out as I could always use an opportunity to challenge what I think I know. And if nothing else you might have a part in keeping me from turning into my mother-in-law. And for THAT, I thank you!

My kids are preteens and growing like weeds too. I have resorted to stocking hundreds of Kind bars and GF protein granola bars (all from Costco) that my girls can bring to school or leave in their sport bags as snacks. During softball season, and especially at all day tournaments, we as a family of 4 can go through 40 bars in a weekend.

It's funny, because you see someone else's cart and think, well that person lives alone. Not to do with groceries, but my mother was a hoot. She told me you could tell how many kids your new neighbors have by the shape of her undergarments on the line (we were a military family). Pretty accurate too. Women with 4 kids didn't have fancy lingerie. 🤣

Hi Christine. I would love to see the once a month grocery haul with the budget tally. Personally, I think $437 for the month of January for a family of 6 is excellent! Love to see you're getting your kids involved with the meals, too. It will serve them so well! They should build a family favourites recipe book along the way tailored to each of their preferences/faves.

Wendie she has done those. She has even replicated the boxes given out to people in need to show how to make the most of them. I think the point is buy cheap and stock up so you can shop your freezer and pantry to keep monthly spending low.

@@wendoxia I have to agree with Robin. This is how I roll, too. I keep a stocked pantry, stocked freezer, and grocery shop twice per month and rarely need to run to the store in between. I meal plan, use up what I have and keep it rolling. With prices being what they are now (at least I know they've gone up in Canada) I find it very realistic for a family of six. Christine did a great video long ago about creating a starter pantry for students just starting out and compared from Walmart and Dollar Tree. It was really great. If you dont already work from a pantry/stocked freezer that would be a great place to start. There are also great older videos where Christine only cooked what she shopped with on a tight budget.

Love your haul. When I was a struggling single mom, making too much to get food assistance, and no child support, I often had just $20 for groceries a week With two teens (stomachs that walked)I learned the time of day my two local grocery stores marked things down, I learned to freeze milk, and always had fresh fruit and veggies. Lots of trimming, and lots of banana bread…lol. I also shopped at the bread discount store. On Wednesdays they sold garbage bags filled with everything imaginable. It was sold for chicken feed. No, REAL chickens! But was fine for peeps (can’t help myself). Once a month I would buy 2 for $6. And store in my freezer. Never heard of the teas, but I love peach tea! Would love to try!

I've lived your life too. Two children, deadbeat dad after we divorced, no help, no child support but I did it all, worked for a pretty low wage but apparently too much for most assistance which I wouldn't take unless I had to anyhow. No other parent to help in any way, it was me 24/7 and work on top of it. I love her frugal tips here but I already know how to make a dollar stretch in a food budget just as you do but times change and prices too so I watch for that reason and she is fun and does a variety of shows. I don't think I need to say more other than to say I know how hard it is with like a $20 grocery budget for a family (and that's even having to cut other bills at times or go without something else to even have $20). Two children as well. Kudos to you. You made it through. So did I.

@@sams517 Yes! It was a bread discount store. When the discount bread reached the “sell by” date it had to be pulled from the shelves for sale for human consumption, The bags would have bread (sliced white, wheat, rye, etc,) it was past the sell by date but we all know how long a loaf of bread is edible if stored properly (never lasts that long in my house) I . Rolls, single package pastries, etc. it was sold for animal food, and called chicken feed”. Rarely breads might be stale but I used it for toast, croutons, bread crumbs or I found wrapping stale bread in a damp paper towel in the microwave for a few seconds could revive it (if I absolutely had to have a soft slice, there’s always one picky kid who won’t eat PBJ on toast…LOL). It was A LOT of bread. Some months it was more than I could store so I shared it with other folks. I still go once in a while, usually around the holidays when I know I will be making recipes that need dry bread (stuffing, dressing, bread pudding, etc)

This was so interesting! I notice that if I'm being super careful about utilizing my pantry/freezer JUST our food can cost as little as $30-50 a week for just my husband and I. HOWEVER... I've also noticed that since I started doing KZfaq videos I've been buying a lot more "recipe" ingredients which has definitely increased our food budget over the last several months. I can't emphasize enough how important it is for people on a budget to shop their pantry/fridge/freezer FIRST when making a weekly meal plan. You do an awesome job keeping yours stocked and your budget really does show that!! Awesome video as always!!

So that was definitely great to hear you tipped and said it out loud in your video. You can leave notes about specific items that you’d like your shopper to pay extra attention to such as that cauliflower. You can note that you’d like one but if small please get two. This is why I love your videos! As a stay at home mom, one income, feeding a family of 5 is tough sometimes. Even though my twins are 5 and my daughter is 2, they go through so many fruits and veggies. Last week we went through 9 lbs of apples and 10 lbs of bananas.

Loved this month long view at all the shopping trips! I already record how much I spend in a month on food, but I think taking a look at what I actually bought would be good too!

Hi Christine! Sorry I'm late for this particular party but I wanted you to know how awesome I think you are! You are great as a channel hostess but your Hubby, Mom and Kids add that extra spice that keeps me coming back and binging on videos I may have missed. Please keep up the varied material!!! Where I have gotten some fantastic recipes from you, I have also TRULY enjoyed your huge hauls, meal preps, road trips, exercise/dietary and all your other shared activities. Though you may not understand our interest in your hauls, property painting, etc... it comes primarily from seeing how other people live, shop, clean house or even make their beds. Do you do it all differently? Have a better system? Can you teach me how to shop smarter? For me? YES! Your attitude, humor, pride and willingness to video all of this for us, is what brings us back to you and will continue to do so in the near and distant future! Sorry for all the hot air... Just thought you should know at least THIS fan's opinion. Have an awesome weekend and a fantastic week! 🥳 Toot your own horn lady!!! You deserve it!!! 🤩💚👸💚🤩

Yep. This was an interesting and fun video. Yes, my food budget has gone up. Our main grocery store, Publix, is experiencing many shortages at this time and have been since around Thanksgiving. But our Dollar Trees AND our local Target , that does have a HUGE food section , r very well stocked w an excellent variety of choices. Higher prices on some things at Target but they also have their store brand too that is generally cheaper.

I LOVE lemon ice tea outside working in my pineapple garden here in sunny Florida 🌞. I will use them well if you send them to me. @Frugal Fit Mom. So glad that you bring your children into the kitchen meal prep process. In my household, whoever doesnt cook or prep is in charge of clean up. Meals need to be a family activity. And congrats on 400K subscribers 🎉🎉🎉WOW!!!

Loved this video AND I LOVE clearance shopping. I'm from and live in Texas. I grew up with my very frugal father calling it "used" in the spirit of used book store finds: used meat section, used bread store, etc. My girls have thus grown up calling it that, too! We get odd looks when we talk about our grocery store scores.

Thank you for teaching your boys to cook. My brother never understood the time/energy it took to make a good dinner. He'd come home to a meal and 2 sides and say "that's all you did while I was gone for three hours?" Well ya, prep, cook, cleaning takes a while. Later his wife was sick for a while and couldn't cook for a while and I think then he understood.. hard lesson to learn later!

Always a fun watch! We live in the Bay Area of California, and grocery prices are 20-25% higher than a year or so ago. We are fortunate to be able to buy what we need, but so many people who were struggling before this darn pandemic are in dire straits, now.

I am always amazed at your grocery haul videos. It's just me, and I spend more than what you spend at the store in a month. I have a well-stocked pantry and freezer as well. Fresh produce and fruit is so expensive - well, groceries period are so expensive in my area - we have no competition. I can't believe your prices!
