Yes, I am Christian, but I love the concept of spiritual and physical cleansing as well. Sounds very relaxing and rejuvenating and I definitely would use the experience to meditate on Scripture.

My sister converted to Judaism and she did her mikvah. I didn't know about all the intricate details that go with it like soaking before hand and scrubbing the dead skin. She converted during the height of the pandemic so I wasn't able to make it to her celebration of conversion due to lock-downs and and limiting the number of people indoors. I'm in happy for her and the power of G-d. She was an atheist at 12 years old while I became a Christian at 13. But to see her spiritual journey from someone who was atheist to Jewish makes me happy to know she has a relationship with the Creator.

I live in Montreal and I really appreciated this tour. We sadly don't know enough of the Jewish culture and rituals and we are neighbors. I like how you helped us understand that what may seem like an unfair obligation for women in your religion is in fact something you seem to enjoy pretty much ( I guess some mandatory relaxing time alone without the children is never a bad thing for a busy mom). So thank you for sharing this private part of Jewish woman culture with us ! You're a great ambassador of your religious culture.

It is so sad you can propagate such ignorant and quite frankly ridiculous concepts around the Mikveh! The Mikveh propagating germs 🦠 is an old folktale as blatantly ridiculous as all orthodox women have their hair shaved off!! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ You obviously know nothing about what is the Mikveh and it’s true meaning and only base yourself on more uninformed and biased sources! So beautiful! Usually on those 4-5 days, on top of having crabby mood, i feel so much guilt for separating myself from my Husband and denying him of physical affection. Unclean or not.. those femenine days are painful.. 5 days free from work or having less work, sleeping alone, having a bath like in a spa.. I wish I had this.

I am Jewish and grew up in the Conservative movement transitioning to Reform into my high school years and remain Reform now at 68. I must admit I've never done a Mikvah but found this absolutely fascinating. Just watching and listening to your video brought me a sense of peace. You could feel your spiritual connection to the entire process.

Dear Sara, thank you so much for your open and honest sharing of your life. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY as an Orthodox Muslim women living in adjacent to an Orthodox Jewish Community. It was so wonderful to have people so close to my beliefs in my surroundings, especially the women and marketplaces. I miss the YWHA, our conversions about life and so much more. I now live in the Southwest, things here are quite different our communities are disconnected even within my religion. However, you make me feel the connection ever so much. @@thatgh0stvariety814 Look into traditional Catholicism or the Eastern Rites. There, you will find a wealth of beautiful and ancient traditions. Protestantism is bare, utilitarianism, especially as practiced in the USA. Read sources by Catholics, not by Protestants.

I love new beginnings! I grew up Lutheran with quite a large part of my extended family raised Jewish. I’ve always loved learned about the customs and traitions of other cultures and faiths. I think it’s beautiful and fascinating. And you know, I think a 30 minutes quiet time bath is something perhaps we ALL should adopt after that cranky time of the month. 😂

It's really good. Ive grown up aware of the Hasdim and the variety of compliance with Judaic law, but the Mikvah is never talked about, since men mostly do the talking. I had the impression that it was more like a Japanese Bath, thank you for teaching me that Hebraic women do this ritual as a solo.

I love your whole explanation of the ritual mikvah bath. It is such a beautiful part of Judaism. We have a a very similar act in Islam which is a ritual bath after our menstruation is finished but we are able to do it in our own bathrooms. It allows us to be ready to have relations with our husbands again and to pray 🙏

Same here. I have always been drawn to Jewish traditions. My father's family came from Prussia and all the records were destroyed. But it looks like a lot of people with his surname were Jews. My sister also thinks that we have Jewish ancestors, even though we came to this conclusion differently. We now keep the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat) and are learning how to eat kosher.

I’m Jewish but haven’t done this. I’m mostly secular although I go to temple sometimes. I had a friend convert and tell me about her experience. It was nice to see your video. I admire Jews who are traditional and more observant. In my thirties, I observed all Shabbats, went to shul ,and was fully observant in a Conservative shul. I was Shomer shabbos but it was hard for me to continue do it without a family. I see the joy it brings in my relatives’ families. Thank you for your videos and sharing the sweetness of another one of our life cycle traditions.

Unfortunately and shamefully, knowledge of many Torah-based mitzvot and practices were (illegally) discarded or hidden from NON-Orthodox/Torah-observant/traditional Jews, particularly with the rise of the Reform, Conservative, and Modern Orthodox movements. It's wonderful that we now have access to this information, including this lovely video, to inform those of us who don't know, but would like to learn about and take on these crucial practices! Mikveh, Challah, and lighting candles for Shabbat are the three main mitzvot specifically for women.

I've always wondered what women with irregular periods would do? Particularly spotting? Some women can't constantly be on birth control so how do they adapt to these lovely rituals/requirements :)

I love new beginnings! As a Catholic, I do not understand why we do not continue to share many of the beautiful Jewish rituals and traditions as our faith stemmed from Judaism. Thank you so much for sharing this ritual and the purpose behind them.

As a sufferer of endometriosis and a scholar of/traveller to many countries where menstruation is considered 'dirty' or 'shameful', I really appreciate your wording - I like how you focus on the spiritual but also mention the practical and medical side of the issue. I love new beginnings! I absolutely loved this video and learned so much. What a blessed experience this must be for you and all Jewish women. As a Christian, we do not have anything that compares to this experience. I did, however; feel renewed and ready for the week after taking part in one of our faith’s sacraments this morning at our church service. We also honored those who have went on before us with a remembrance ceremony as part of our service. .I want to thank you so much for sharing your Mikvah visit with us. I found it very meaningful and as I have said before-the more we learn about one another and our beliefs the more we can respect and love one another. And isn’t that what God asks of us? Baptism by immersion; the concept of being spiritually cleansed and renewed by submerging yourself in the water (either a ceremonial pool or a natural body of water) came from the tradition of the mikveh 😊

@@MoriKitsune true. I guess I should have said I have not experienced anything similar. I was baptized as an infant, as were my children. My husband was baptized by pouring as he has a great fear of water. Sprinkling, pouring and immersion are all acceptable forms of baptism in our denomination.

Really enjoyed this video....The Mikvah time for a women is such a holy and spiritual time...In South Africa If a women went to the Mikvah on a Friday night or on a night of a Chag...it's not safe for women to walk alone....so they have a special rooms for husband's to wait for their wives...what happens is the Mikvah atendent tells the husband which room to go to they have numbers on the outside...the Mikvah attendent tells the wife which room her husband is in...so after immersion...you go to where the rooms are for husband's to wait and knock on the correct door...Shavua Tov have a wonderful week ahead lots of love from Israel

I am not religious but enjoy learning about the traditions and rituals within different cultures. I think the Mikveh is a beautiful ritual allowing a woman to connect spiritually with herself in a warm relaxing space.

@@sisterspooky thank you for asking ☺️it’s where we confess our sins to a priest and seek the forgiveness of God and the priest absolves us of all of our sins and assigns a penance (usually some prayers to say). We leave in a state of grace, ready to partake in the Eucharist. It is a beautiful sacrament and necessary to take full part of the holy sacrifice of the mass.

And every time you close with your words of love for each of us, I have felt them and I have cried. Thank you. Don't ever stop reminding us. I am at a new beginning. This is so powerful 🙏🙏 the way you live with such conviction to make sure that it's not about a woman being under or below the husband but how you both have a role in the physical life but your spiritual life. So many people use difference be a source of conflict but I watch with a inspired heart to evolve my spirituality and I feel like I also have gained understand why things like water bring peace and play such a important role in our spiritual rituals.
