Ive used mine many times over the course of 4 years with the genuine pins. Ive never had this issue. They've always been easy to remove and refit.

Can’t you just add a few washers under the pins to raise them?

I keep a small shifting spanner in the car for this purpose as well as other difficult to undo items like trailer safety chains

This is why I use the rolla side mounted rack that has ratchet straps. Easier to load them on without the hassle of having to reach on top of the vehicle too

I use the longer pins which maxtrax make; I think they are made for the extreme trax but they work good with 4 standard trax and give more room

Agreed, pain to use, I guess they never tested them with used maxtrax. I keep a leatherman in the glove box and use the pliers. The tred system looks better, just a simple thread.

My mate is a tragic All the gear no idea kinda bloke. Ive Never needed maxtrax, but he was deadset I needed them on the beach. Then I showed him the power off as soon as you feel your sinking, clear some sand quickly with your arms, then do the first and reverse rocking the car compacting the sand slowly further each rock. Then boom your out! He sold his maxtrax next day lol they are just corporate money grab gimmick. Learning proper 4wd technics are king

It’s not the Maxtrax dude, it’s the way you have them hanging over the rear of your rack. The edge rail sits higher than the rail where the mounts are fixed, by the thickness of the material, likely 2mm. Don’t have a problem with mine.

I have the same issue with my 2 xtremes & genuine mounting pins…I have to put all my weight on them & even there getting the 4th corner down is near impossible even with a wrench

a taller pin with a spring and washer on the bottom would probably solve the issue. you'd never get them back on with clay stuck to them.

It’s not unique to used Maxtrax. Mine have done this since new. Yep I’m using genuine pins. They’ve never been used and I’ve pliers or multi grips from the getgo. It’s a pain. I’d hate to think how they’d go with a bit of dirt in them from a mud hole.

Funny but I used mine and put them back easy no tools need. I’d say manufacturing tolerances.
