FSU is 100% correct. ACC with multiple National Championships are getting 17% of CFP $ while the Big 12 with none gets 15%. Tells you how bad the ACC negotiates for its members.

What you rarely ever see anything about is any answer why ESPN demanded an extension in 2021 rather than just renew. Then they refused to renew in 2022, 2023 and now 2024. ACC fans should have grave concerns about whether the ACC will, in fact, renew in ten short months or just walk away.
@jamesmciver96373 ай бұрын
They didnt ask for an extension, Jim phillips offered it after they didn't renew.

They prefer 1 way traps. League was too dumb to tie their pay to other conferences in the contract, so they could stay competitive.

The S in ESPN does not stand for stupid. They know the “Iron Clad” GOR is a myth, and sooner or later schools would figure it out, and once they did, those with value ( like FSU and Clemson) would not be sticking around until 2036, so why pay the ACC > $30m a year when ESPN can either pay far less or walk away ( especially because they have Texas, Oklahoma and the CBS portion of the SEC contract).

If it goes to federal court it is going to take years. If a judge decides a case on what college he is a fan of then they should be removed from the bench.
@davidbrown3863 ай бұрын
Let’s say it goes to Federal Court what happens? 1: ESPN refuses to pick up the option because of the risk involved. 2: Good news and bad news for the ACC. Good news: They can keep FSU and Clemson past 2025. Bad news: In 2027, they can leave for free because no court will force them to take a worse deal then they already have.
@badgerbournemouthfan54083 ай бұрын
@@davidbrown386 What is the risk to ESPN? They already have a very favorable deal with the ACC.

Look at ACC ratings: There are only two ACC schools in the top 30 in CFB TV ratings: No shock to anyone; FSU and Clemson. The much loved UNC Tar Heels were actually 45th: One spot ahead of that powerhouse school: Rutgers.
@badgerbournemouthfan54083 ай бұрын
@@davidbrown386 So I still dont get the risk. If Clemson and FSU go to the SEC , ESPN still gets them albeit at a high price and if FSU goes to the BIG ESPN still has a great deal with the ACC on par with the Big 12. If ESPN keeps the ACC and FSU has to stay or pay ESPN has an awesome deal.

Disney is many things, but they are not a failure. First, Disney intends to sale ESPN. The business model for ESPN has come via cable & satellite subscription’s. Now the streaming service wars are done, I expect prices will begin rising. ESPN has gone all in on the SEC, and they need that money they’ve been giving to the ACC, and the ACC Network life span is very very short. I am not sure about ABC’s future existing in or out of Disney’s holdings. Disney is set to begin a Billion & a half $$ dollars investment building new parks & renovating older areas of Disney World. This is expected to bring 10,000’s new permanent jobs in Florida. Gov. DeSantis has negotiated settling some of the issues with Disney. The backlash of people who owned homes in subdivision’s that were part of Disney’s District: Have been loud & extremely unhappy with how the State of Florida @ DeSantis command has dealt in failing to exercise the duties Disney handled without complaints. Disney World is the largest private employer in Florida. DeSantis used Disney for target practice & looked like a fool fighting Mickey Mouse. I said, “I don’t mind suffering a little with DeSantis just too keep him out of the Whitehouse. Yet, I am disappointed with both candidates for President”. I am going to shut up & watch the ACC die.

Oh and BTW the ACC Network would not premiere for a few years and ESPN ‘couldn’t’ get cable services to carry the network when it started. My immediate reaction when I heard the deal lasted to 2036 was ‘How many renegotiation opportunities will the competing conferences have between 2016 and 2036?’ I am no rocket scientist but it seemed obvious that there would be several opportunities for other conferences to renegotiate while the ACC had NONE. We go through the inspection, and everything is what we agreed on. Now after I close on the house & get the keys. I walk out back the in-ground pool is gone. The home theater & seats are gone. All the cabinets have been removed. All the appliances are gone. Now you tell me, are we(fsu fan) supposed to just take it or are we supposed to sue since you don't want to explain.

IMO, all of this is a temporary battle with the final outcome and how college football looks TBD. I wouldn't be surprised to see the SEC and Big Ten get together and exclusively schedule most games between these two conferences. The SEC is ahead of the game in some ways by getting rid of divisions. For example, if FSU goes to the Big Ten, as rumors say they will, the Big Ten will need another team to keep the divisions balanced, whereas the SEC has numbers going from one to 14, so adding one or more teams isn't an issue. OTOH, it doesn't look like the SEC is looking to expand right now, at least nothing has been said publicly - who knows what is going on behind closed doors.

SEC IS NOT TAKING ANY MORE TEAMS 🏈 THE BIG 12 DOSES NOT NEED ANY TEAMS THE BIG 10 WILL TAKE 2 ONLY. THE ACC DIES 💀

That’s the furthest from what is going to happen. They all want the most number of quality brands for the most viewed matchups. They want more schools and more conference games. Right now it is 8-9 conference matchups a week. Get to 24 teams each and it’s 12. They want those 4 million plus viewer games. I would almost bet a jump from 16-18 teams up to 24 teams would come close to doubling viewers on the networks. It doesn’t matter if the channel is playing half the games regionally. It matters that the commercials are aired nationally to 50 million people every weekend instead of 20-25 million.

Where did you hear this. This is totally false. SEC has already had talks with several teams behind the scenes.

I don't see the ACC collapsing if only two schools leave. It will be a second tier brand for sure, but a total collapse will require a lot more teams leaving.

@davidbrown3863 ай бұрын
What happened with the PAC is most of the schools had landing spots. With the ACC most do not. Plus no one had to pay to leave the PAC ( although they settled with OSU and WSU). To leave the ACC schools will likely have to pay $100m ( unless the ACC gets greedy and stalls and loses in court).
