I watched the video and didn't do anything you said until you got to the actual config tweaks. I made the changes you showed and I think it really did improve the looks and maybe performance. Thanks a lot.

Thanks Matt for the video! Using these tweaks has made FSX feel like a new game for me. Its much smoother and more stable now and now I don't have trouble loading some of the intensive things I had before.

Thanks for this Matt. I had shelved my FSX it was so laggy even with all the settings at low and consequently didn't "work" and looked 'orrible!! Using your tweaks, my system now runs brilliantly with the sliders more towards the right than the left ... it's gorgeous and averaging 20+ fps. I have fallen in love with FSX - cheers mate.

Applied the changes in this video to my FSX setup, it worked brilliantly, FSX has never looked or performed this well before. Thanks Matt for posting this miracle fix. (Well for me anyway).

I dont know which one which worked for me. But my frames from 17-20 FPS has been boosted to 37-40 FPS in Coolsky DC9 which is the most heavy hitter in FSX! With default plane like glider, from 20-30 is now at 75-80 FPS! Thanks for this video. You helped me alot! With the low fps im experiencing with FSX, I was already thinking to get Prepar3D. But now Im staying with FSX. Thanks again Matt Davies!

worked wonders with a bit more tweaking went from 6 frames with orbx addon scenery to over 50 frames!!!!

Really really helpful, tips from you and one other you tube guy have transformed FSX using 4 screens on one pc with gtx 960 card and monitor outlets on the pc I am 17 FPS on worst airports and 30 to 50 in the air! Thank you

I dont recoment to copy all of his tweaks without Testing! My Pc isn´t ver differnt to his but when I just copied all of the tweaks my FSX crashed. So test every single tweak! But thats a great video! :)

ive got an AMD FX6300 and a Saphire R9 270x and i cant believe how fast it runs.Its just a matter of setting it up.The AMD catalyst cont.cntr. has all settings to help you so its really straight forward ÷>

What a difference Matt has made.. Stock fsx was showing just 12 fps.. Now i got Orbx global and LC Europe 60-70fps!!!! QX9650 cpu with an ATI 5870.. using antialiasing with catalyst control panel

Great video Matt !!!. Your Tutorial have fixed my FSX performance from 50% to 95% or even more. Only one thing, is it normal that the autogen texture ( ground, roads ) is loading so slow and in most of the cases the texture is blurred?. Buildings, briges and trees are OK. May I fix this by editing the tweaked Fsx.cfg? You know a lot about this stuff, so I will so grateful for help.

This caused severe issues for me. I only changed settings relevant to me and definitely not a novice. This started causing blank/black screen issues in fullscreen mode which will not go away despite new fsx.cfg files, fresh installs of FSX and even fresh installs of Windows. Pissed off is an understatement.

Hi Matt, Very helpful tweaks, and has certainly improved the performance. I have a similar system to yours, i7 3770k although only clocked between stock and about 4Ghz I believe. I also have the GTX680 although only the 2Gb version. Following the tweaks as advised by your kind self, I do now suffer from black flickers on the land and clouds etc, but only in Full Screen view, and not in standard Window view? Do you have any ideas why this is happening? I'm reading a lot about the BufferPool needing a value rather than 0? Any advice would be greatly appreciated mate.

Excellent video Matt! I've applied these FSX.cfg tweaks and I'm going to try them now. Just one thing, I believe nVidia Inspector needs to be running in the background when you use FSX for it to work? Or am I mistaken?

Hi Matt! Just wanted to thank you for this great guide. I was locked at 22fps before in the PMDG777. Now after these tips and tweeks to my cfg, i got 29-38fps in the vc. I cant thank you enough mate. I have had very big fps loss when im flying in heavy fog and overcast though. Any idea how i can fix that? Take care!

This video has changed my fsx experience after watching tons of crapvideo's on how to improve fsx. I keep returning to this video because it gives me the best preformance. But from the first time I've watched it I really wanted to have that windows theme u were using while shooting this video. I've searched the comments looking for a link to the windows theme... I saw 2 ppl asking for it but they didn't get an answer could u remember Matt? would love to have this

You tried reducing max pre rendered frames to 1 instead of 3 in inspector? For me this made the simulation much smoother with external views and panning? What does this do ?

Hey Matt, great guide first of all. I got a problem tho, when i add the poolsize=0 in my cfg my fsx freaks out. I can barely move around the aircraft nor inside the cockpit.. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick reply, one more questions, about tweaking the fsx, it works really great, but I have an issue, above and under the screen become a black about 2 fingers, when I press Windows button, the fsx goes minimize, hoe doI fix this? I have the same Video card as yours.

So if I just simply delete my fsx.cfg file, when I fire up fsx the next time it will create a new one with no problems? I am afraid about loosing my add ons in fsx (payware aircrafts) when I do that.

Thanks for uploading this video. I really needed some tweaks and settings for fsx running with DX9, although I'm an AMD user, I managed to configure fsx profile on amd catalyst control center. By the way, I use rex 4 with soft clouds and I set for water animations, you know waves, reflections e.t.c to DXT1 and DX10 Enabled. Is this fine? Also, should I use bojote's shader 3.0, because I use DX9?

I did everything that this video says, but I lost all air traffic in my fsx. even when the traffic density is set to 100%, still there is no other airplane in the game. what should I do? thanks.

Very useful but I have one quick question, will these tweaks also reduce the dreaded OOMs or will the tweaks make no difference? (I'm not a fan of having to set scenery values of medium high or even medium low for long hauls with the 777, kinda makes all of that Orbx scenery a bit pointless on finals to Heathrow or Gatwick!)

Sir,please help me,..I have followed all your instructions correctly.... then I opened FSX,then i made some changes to the controls buttons...then I play it...during playing I tried to open 'control' at menu bar ,then suddenly there was 'FSX fatal errors' appear ....and one more thing,when i open up my FSX again,i found out that my settings which i have changed earlier were not saved ... ..do you have any solution for that?

AMD/ATi users use RadeonPro, does the same as Inspector it seems. (uses ati/amd)

Excellent, along with a new cooling pad, I am and for the first time getting 21-23fps for the NGX in the virtual cockpit in the dense FlyTampa OMDB, and ActiveSky running on another computer. However, I have done the tweaks by hand, and not using the tool, and on FSX startup the sim complains about the RAAS.dll (The module that came with the PMDG 777) asking me if I want to enable it, when I click yes, FSX crashes, otherwise the sim works. Any idea on what of these tweaks might have screwed it up? Thanks!

An update to my previous comment, I simply deleted the line referencing the RAAS.dll in the FSX.cfg and restarted the SIM again and that fixed it. I have also found the reason why the 2D panels and the popup screens were washed and smoothed out, and that was the Anti-Aliasing settings for the NVidia. Keep those videos going please! Very well done.
