This was 2017 and yes it was a competition, all the people they showed backstage were his competitors. He's only got better since, I would recommend moving through Sinful Passion, Olimpico, Love is Like A Dream before you take on his Magnum Opus of The Story of One Sky which took him 3 years to compose. This is a 14 minute music video which was not only composed by him but he also wrote the screenplay and acted as the main character.

Thank you for your great and authentic reaction to Dimash. Dimash is from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (C1(B0) - D8 off the piano) At least what he has shown us so far. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. And meanwhile in 14 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish. SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. . They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. The other competitiors might not have taken Dimash seriously at first because of his age and that they didn’t know him but that quickly changed after the performance of SOS, as you can see. Through his honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today. He is a nice, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And I absolutely believe this. In some it is important to understand what the song is about. There are a lot of beautiful, sad and awesome songs to discover. If you want to stay in this competition for a while I recommend the second performance, Opera 2, where his father was in the audience. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. As far as I know, he lived in one house with the whole family, grandparents, parents and a sister and brother. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language and up until then he (almost) didn’t speak any English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 19 so I can imagine…) And after that performance he saw his dad. Indescribably beautyful and emotional. During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his style/habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that 🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰. To do it right you have to listen to "Sinful Passion" next and after that "Ogni Pietra (Olympico)" and then "Love is like a dream" The first time you hear him literally sing like an angel. After that I would go with one of his newest songs "Stranger" He's actually gotten a whole lot better and then finally "Ave Maria" He doesn't sing a single word, but if you want to know what it sounds like as an angel takes you to heaven, you have to hear this one. Dimash has been through Vocal Training since he was at the Age of 5, how he's in his late 20s. Honestly he has trained and been in Music longer than some Singers have and he can easily out-sing them, but what's even more impressive is the fact that till this day he continues to Train and better himself even though he has achieved level of Mastery in his craft that outshines others, it just makes his success that much sweeter. Dimash's influence affects fellow Singers in a different way, where if they stopped training previously, they end up wanting to go back to training after hearing Dimash and as a Singer struggling due to neglect, I just want to become better, I've always wanted to be better, but hearing Dimash sing, I end up getting chills and saying "I want to be able to do that", but it takes Years of hard work and dedication. Singers spend every week competing not to be the lowest ranking (getting kicked off the show). He lived in China for 4 months, in a country where he doesn't speak the language (Mandarin). This was just the tip of the iceberg… there’s been much more happening since 2017 till today with Dimash. That was his debut and not winning that competition but coming in second was absolutely ridiculous because really, nobody can beat Dimash…the person to compete with him hasn’t been born yet…because someone with such gift is born once in 2 centuries or so…

As proof of that, you should react to his "Opera 2," "Sinful Passion," "Stranger," and "Olympico" -- for starters! Both his parents are accomplished musical artists, and he has been training since age 5, and is now 28 (I believe). He is from Kazakhstan, but speaks and sings in multiple languages and plays multiple instruments. The famed Russian pianist / composer Igor Krutoy heard him sing "Sinful Passion," and came out of his retirement to work full-time with Dimash! As great as he is as a singer, when you learn about his life, his values, his humility, his generosity, etc., you will see that he is an even more magnificent human being -- which is what today's music industry and the world itself so desperately needs!
