You're both wrong. Y is the VERTICAL axis. So it would be someone from a top-down overhead perspective. Tricky to find one that isn't actually at a slight angle so you can see something other than the top of their head.

Ojii-san can vary a lot depending on the context, usually it can mean someone 10-15 years older than you (something like a middle aged man) or even someone 50+ years older (爺). Only the girls themselves can specify their tastes better.
