Let's be honest here, Silus was a simp for the Mythic Dawn, he wasn't a follower of the real Dagon. Here's my take of the whole exchange there: I imagine Dagon would look down on the idea of a museum displaying mythic dawn paraphernalia. What Silus says is telling, for a moment his ancestor held the fate of the world in their hands. It isn't really about Dagon for him I think. It doesn't really matter what Silus planned to do with the Razor, if Dagon thought Silus would display it in his museum... Dagon would much rather his artifact be used to create a 'real' display of what he represents; destruction, which is why he doesn't want to give it to Silus. Silus lacks the ambition to wield it; he attempts to bribe you to get you to not kill him. He was never a pawn, he was a test to see if you were worthy to wield it. Great video, by the way!

I like the Dragonborn strategy: worship ALL of the daedra. Hard for a single daedric prince to screw you over when you're the champion of a dozen others, all having designs over and wishes for you.

Maybe. The Reachmen were constantly kicked around by the other races of men, but with backing from Dagon, the Longhouse Emperors were able to control the empire for almost three generations. November 2021 Edit: Nevermind. The ESO Deadlands DLC showed this was a really bad deal for the Longhouse Emperors.

If you decide to mock Dagon by manscaping with Mehrunes' Razor, be careful! One slip and you won't have the balls to do it anymore. BTW, do you know where all the Mythic Dawn are? Dagon.

The only Daedra that i would serve without a second thought would be Azura, since she appears most benevolent, or at least she tries to save her people or Meridia , since all she really cares about is killing undead

With the notable exception of the Good Daedra, you're better off greeting any prince not as a supplicant but as a peer exchanging favors for favors. They are each an Ideal Form personified, and devoting oneself wholly to a singular sphere is to deny the full breadth of Lorkhan's creation; this is also why correct daedra worship is centered on the wellspring of 3 benevolent guides and corralled by 4 antagonists. Hircine could be an exception to this principle as the concept that is The Hunt can be abstracted out to wider fields than Destruction. This video could be described as being part of the hunt for views & patreons, and the Psijic Endeavor could similarly be spun as a metaphysical hunt. Of course, with enough abstraction black becomes white, so one might expect diminished returns asking Hircine for help in less straightforward hunts. I can imagine some bureaucrat in HR evoking Hircine to help find a qualified candidate to hire and him slumping his shoulders before giving a disaffected "Okay..."

Although Dagon is fascinating, I have no idea why you’d worship him. The cons definitely outweigh the pros. Unrelated, but the end fight of the Blackwood chapter in ESO was AMAZING! Racing through the keep while Dagon’s huge hands were punching into the walls and snatching people away- it was scary af. The ESO team did an excellent job with him.

The fact that Dagon in ESO seems to be voiced by Worf, makes it better.

I've always said if the Daedra were real I would without a doubt be a devote follower of a certain drinking buddy named Sam, I understand others like sheogorath and such but I just have always loved the god of ales and debauchery

trading your soul for something is an extremely dumb thing to do, it's screwing over an eternal afterlife for a thing in life that won't matter once you die.

My current play through of Skyrim is with a Dark Elf who starts of worshiping Dagon because he feels the good Daedra are not strong enough to avenge his people and against the Lizards and the Nords who have put refugees in an insulting slum. However, after the events of Moon and Stars and House of Horrors he switches to Bal and becomes a vampire via Krovaxis lair.

There's some good or at least tempting reasons to, but on the other hand, you really don't want to anger Sheogorath to the point that he slips rope with your entrails. After all, Sheogorath is the Hero of Kvatch, Champion of Cyrodil and friend of Martin Septim.

I think of Dagon as the last ditch hail Mary pass for when you're backed into a corner and have to fight your way out. I also think he gets underestimated sometimes, because of his multiple failed attempts to conquer Tamriel. Domination is Molag's thing. I'm pretty sure Mehrunes just uses it as a pretense to set the stage for some grand upheaval or conflict. All of his failed conquests have directly led to such things down the line. He plays the long game.

They really should make an Elder Scrolls RTS/Civ Builder where you play as one of the many Gods conflicting with the others and the occasional special human

I'd like to see videos like this about the other Daedra, as this one is really fascinating. Particularly, the three Daedra I'd love to know if it's worth following are Jyggalag, Meridia, and Hermaeus Mora.

It doesn't always have to be "worth it" to worship an apocalypse cult. In my personal setting cultists usually worship because they've given completely into despair and confirmed for themselves that "No, I really DON'T want things to keep spinning if they're this fucked up."

Off topic but I recently started a playthrough of Morrowind with an extensive mod list and boy was this gem creepy. How I played it when I was younger I have no idea. Dagoth Ur is just a disaster. Morrowind is actually terrifying in a way. That part in the clockwork city where you see Sotha just dangling there in the air, plugged into his machine. Something about that horrified look on his face chilled me to the core. The fabricants look so bizarre. Almost as if Sotha Sil pulled them from some far off realm and welded metal parts to their bodies. The way Ash Ghouls dig out their eyes. The way they eventually grow trunks from the hole there. This game had a lot of moments that were down right horrifying that I never grasped fully when I was younger or never quite realized due to a lack of my own imagination and graphical power at the developers disposal when it was released. But playing it now, in 2021, with everything modified to make it look incredible, Mehrunes Dagon is the least of my worries. The implications have not been matched since. Oblivion. Skyrim. They fail to live up to their predecessor.

The other thing to consider is that if you are indeed successful, and do seize power and rule over your chosen group, province, or all of Tamriel, that just puts you in power. Now you've set yourself up to be the one that someone else may later petition Dagon's help to overthrow.

the mythic dawn museum in dawnstar being allowed to exist is one of the funniest and dumbest thing in skyrim. it's like some guy down the road literally building an atomic bomb and you do nothing

Dagon is basically the Nirn's version of the Devil, Satan himself. While Molag Bal is the most evil Daedric Prince, Dagon has all the resemblances of the Devil on his appearance....

In Oblivion, Mehrunes Dagon had his Daedric Servants torture his worshippers.

Probably wouldn’t have added much, but you could also mention the possibility of the pirate captain Haknir Death-Brand as a follower of Dagon. It’s possible he offers the souls of all his slain victims and/or his own soul for Dagon to honor a *seemingly* one-sided deal in allegedly giving Death-Brand his equipment, strength, and long life.

Yes, just for the treasure in his shrine and deadra hearts alone.

I think Dagon is actually Ben 10. He got trapped in his Four-Arms form and the watch was broken, so he evolved and has been a daedra ever since

Imagine if Ulfric would secretly be worshipping Dagon in order for his rebellion to succeed. Its a rebellion after all, it is meant to bring change, right? It would bring so much more depth to the Stormcloaks. Who knows, maybe thats why they seem to be so successful compared to the Legion's better military. Mehrunes Dagon is the daedra you turn to when you want success at any cost, I like that he is ruthless and even the most successful of all daedric lords, he won the Oblivion Crisis, everything that happens in Skyrim happens because his plans succeeded - change was brought to Tamriel on a massive scale, the 4th era is nothing like the 3rd era.

I a very nice Dagon vid. I was wondering about the skill-system in TES6...Is there anything known how the stats and skills will look? Do you think they'll have skill-trees?...I think a perception stat/skill could be utilized well in-game. Imaging someone is sneaking up on you, but your perception is high enough to "Hear' them behind you, or their presence is made know via message/compass-point. Perhaps someone sees you commit a crime, and your perception allows you to notice exactly who saw you. There are plenty of other instances where it could help. Even the survival skill could be fun and add immersion, as well as be useful.

I don’t think the cultists were actually being punished in the paradise. I think it was dragons way of slowly stripping away there humanity until after time all that was left was a loyal daedric spirit. They would be immortal and presumably powerfull cause ya know, they have to practice fighting or end up in the lava cave of fun times.
