I reckon that you didn't wait long enough to allow the ECU to adjust itself to all the new parameters. The reduction in load alone from the aero mods must take at least 50 miles or for the adjustments in the maps.

So would I, if they followed the scientific process. They set up an incredibly accurate way to measure fuel consumption, and then they changed more than one variable at once. They needed to literally film the process, then document each of the changes one at a time, and see if each product on it's own, even worked. For example, the device which made a vacuum leak? That's a way to tremendously hurt your gas mileage, so if anything else did work, it had no shot at showing itself to work. I really hope my comment gets heard.

Christopher, I took a chance at a similar device with similar claims years ago. When the placebo effect on my driving habits wore off, the fact it "worked" wore off as well. I lost it since...and now that I understand circuits pretty well I can't take it off and find out what was in there! :(

The mod with the highest chance of working I would say is actually the vacuum leak one because you CAN improve fuel economy by leaning out the air fuel mixture, manufacturers have to run richer than what would be ideal for fuel economy to lower NOX emissions. You would have to tune the computer to do that though otherwise it will just mess everything up like you saw.

Those stick on spoilers make great sacrificial front lips for under the front bumper. They look fine underneath the bumper and prevent parking curb scrapes.

Seriously? You know your cig charger only has 2 wires... Power and ground... How is it supposed to communicate and make changes(improve fuel economy) if it doesn't have a signal wire or any means of communication between the cars ECU and the cig charger...so yea it definitely doesn't do shit.

I know this is an old video (having a mcm reminisce/marathon) but can you guys please try testing snorkels!!! Do they make/lose power and do they make your air filter cleaner/dirtier. Keep up the good work and get that coffee ready as looks like you boys have a huge few weeks ahead. pumped for the 4 videos a week.

A lot of fun watching, as for suggestions : 1. Put Derek on a massive diet (power to weight) 2. Pump the tyres up a bar (rolling resistance) 3. Sort out your alignment and balancing (rolling resistance) 4. Do minor aero tweaks, outside and underneath. (Aerodynamic drag) 5. Jack the wheels up and make sure the bearings spin freely, and the breaks aren't sticking . My 2cents in the kitty. Thanks for the awesome show again guys.

One device that absolutely worked is actually the most similar to that big vacuum leak valve they tried out, but with significant differences. It was called an ecotek valve. It was a spring-loaded valvue, but the key to making it work was that the air it leaked in would enter the inlet manifold through a smallish hole at the bottom of the plenum chamber, before the air splits up to go into different intakes. This was similar in principle to an innovation introduced by Mangoletsi inlet manifolds, where a small, deliberate sideways leak would cause turbulence and improve fuel mixing. The ecotek valve made a car feel as though it was fuel injected, and it also improved fuel economy and smoothness. However, it does not work properly on a car with a closed-loop air-fuel mixture adjustment system because it keeps trying to adjust the mixture and goes out of wack all the time. Another advantage is that on engine overrun it would suck huge amounts of air through its spring-loaded valve and drastically reduce engine braking, so you could coast down hills much more economically. It was supposed to work by having a vibrating valve that would send waves of different frequencies to break up the petrol, but I don't know if that was really it or not. But it really did work and if I ever had another carburettor-fed car I would absolutely fit one or make one.

The vacuum leak device would set a check engine light on in a 96 and newer. Exactly the outcome I thought lol you guys do the best stuff to totally debunk crap so young players know not to believe what’s on the box.

Lip on rear of bonnet: This smooths the angle from bonnet to windscreen and shields the wipers. It is used in new car designs, even hiding washer jets under there

I live at 7,000 ft elevation (2133 meters for you more advanced civilizations) and I get about 10+ mpg more than the manufacturer's figures (due to less air resistance and less fuel being burnt due to lower air pressure). So come move to the mountains! Only drawback is your car will be about 20% less powerful...

If you want good mpg, but a Yaris! Lol. Just went on a 700+ kilometer trip and averaged 41.4mpg and that's with sitting in stand still traffic for around an hour. Clean OE air filter and having the right psi of air in your tires is also a must.

They should do a video about real fuel efficiency mods one day. Like undercar pans, grille block offs, maybe lowering the car, intakes, exhaust, real aero changes etc. That would be cool
