While driving my Jeep starts losing power and feels like it is not getting fuel. I’m going to try your video out. I can hear my fuel pump going all the time. Replacing my fuel pump is my last resort. Great video. Put together really well to help educate.

I just got a 93 YJ with a 4.0. Trying to diagnose what appears to be a fuel delivery issue. This video is helping a bunch! I pulled the fuel pump relay and made a jumper. Pressure at the fuel rail is 13PSI. Also, when I shut the pump off pressure immediately falls to zero. Replaced the filter with no change. Otherwise I don't see anything else that seems kinked, or damaged. No leaks either. Looks like I'm dropping the tank...

Your channel is the best! For test three of the pressure drops when raising the rev, does that mean a fuel injector problem? How do you tell if injectors are the problem? I am going through a misfire issue at speed and trying to see what the issue is.

Your FPR vacuum elbow has had it. I removed mine and it literally crumbled. Replace those vacuum lines with silicone lines if your jeep is over 15 years old.

One important thing to mention for general safety, it's recommended that you remove the fuel pump relay and start the engine to remove any pressure left in the fuel rail before connecting a fuel gauge. Then attach your fuel pressure gauge to the port and this helps reduce pressurized fuel from leaking or spraying out all over your engine. Obviously doesn't eliminate any leaks but a rag to catch the small amount will help keep it off of your engine. Obviously remove rag before starting back up with fuel pump relay reinstalled to test it.

Hello, I watch and search allot of your videos, very informative, thank you. My son's 91 YJ with 4.0 recently stopped running going down the road. He towed it home. I checked a few things and have found if I our a little gas into the TBody that it will kick and start on that gas. I tried checking if the fuel pump was working, we could not hear it kicking on so we dropped the tank. Once dropped, the pump has been replaced at some point, nice and new / shiny. Before breaking the gasket on it, I hot wired it to see if it would pump, sure enough it pumps gas (it is just VERY quiet). Now I am confused. Seems the pump is working when wired direct. So, next things to check???? - Is the wire harness that plugs into the pump "hot" when key is turned on? If so than what? If that wire is not hot that why? I found a ground wire on the e-brake pedal assembly bracket that is welded to the body. The wire looked good but I noticed the bracket was cracked and not "attached" to the body any longer, so I took that ground and attached elsewhere. (I read somewhere that that is the fuel pump ground maybe?) Any help is much appreciated. BTW I took my fuel relay out of my jeep, installed into his, no change. Also looked around in fuse area yet not seeing any blown fuses or any that seem to be identified as fuel related.)

Hey jeep solid how's it going? I a checking the pressure on a 95 wrangler I was given and I have no pressure at all in my rail I was wondering if that means it has to be the pump?

I believe the item on the rail you referred to as the fuel pressure regulator is actually the fuel damper which controls the pulses from the fuel pressure regulator which sits on the fuel pump. At least it is for a '98 TJ.

Just bought an old CJ7 but the engine is a 4.0l from a ‘94 Wrangler. I was just gonna pull it out and swap a V-8 but thinking to keep this 4.0 for a while. Never worked on them before, only the old 4.2’s which are carbureted. Starts on starting fluid but no fuel in the rail. I hear the fuel pump humming in the tank but not pushing fuel up the line. Is that common? Do you have a vid on that replacement?

Very informative video Dale , I think you pretty well covered it .The strange thing is my 03 TJ 4.0 doesn't have a schrader valve on the fuel rail . Don't understand why it doesn't have one . Going to be looking into finding one that does and replace mine with that one . Take care and be safe sir .

I'm having an issue..I have the 94 YJ 2.5l I'm getting 44lbs.. according to the Guage. I changed the injectors and the fuel pressure regulator..and now when she's cold..starts right up.. when she warms up..she starts choking when you depress the pedal in second, third and fourth gear.. pressure holding so the injectors are working.. Now, when she's at operating temp..and I stop at the store or wherever, and go to start it immediately..she just turns over no start..you have to just let the starter strain and pump/stand on the gas pedal and she'll kick over.. but no matter she's just running way to rich and she's idling high..you can smell it out the tail pipe.. any thoughts 🤔🙄 I'm also having an issue at the steering column when it rains..it acts like this but the difference between the rain and this issue is that the engine finally kicks over..I have to wait for the jeep to dry before it starts if it rains..and if I get caught in the rain.. forget about it.. So two issues..

95 YJ 4.0. On a cold start the pump doesnt even kick on or prime. Key on, the fuel pressue reads zero. Obviously no start. Have to cycle the ignition a few times and then the fuel pump relay will go bonkers and you can hear it clicking a few times. THEN it'll read 31psi. Fires right up. This is all sporadic - after it sits for a little bit it may do it again or may just fire right up. While running it reads 29psi. Reved up to highway speeds it seems to drop to aboit 26-27 psi. Any thoughts? Bad connection somewhere? Like a ground issue? Weak pump? Key off i dont loose any pressure. My next move I think will be to check for power going to the pump when I'm reading zero pressure with key on. Any thoughts will help. Thanks! Also note that a few times it has read 31psi and still hasnt fired. Then the relay will click rapidly and fires right up

Mine is just the opposite. Im running rich and getting codes po172 & po175. Oxygen sensors, after i just replaced all injectors with 4 hole from 1 hole, because i was getting a po203 code, missfire open circuit #3 cylinder. So just bought new fuel pressure regulator/filter, and i want to test my pressure at the shrader valve on the rail before i replace it. I think on the 2000' wj, pressure should be from 49psi to 51psi? If it's higher to almost 60psi, i know its my regulator, and feeding too much fuel and running rich. If ok, then its got to be the oxygen sensors themselves?? Just looking for confirmation. Thanks

Could be injectors. If bleeding down the cylinder walls it will end up in the sump.

with my 1993 Jeep Cherokee it runs well but looking at the engine it jumps a little like its slightly misfiring. replaced the fuel pump and did a full tune up yet it still does it. the interior shakes at idle a little and the longer it runs the worse it gets.

Maybe bleed air from schrader?
