Excellent video! I just bought one for my 2017 Street Bob (the last Dyna!). I spent a couple hours doing an auto-tune, and I was *shocked* at how bad my tuning drifted in the 18 months that I had the bike. I swapped out the stock mufflers for Straight Shot slip-ons, kept my stock air cleaner. When I installed the FP3 it complained that things were *way* out of whack. After two hours, the bike sounds and behaves like new! What I find interesting is auto-tuning is something you can keep doing , and it'll keep adjusting from where things are, to where things ought to be. I'm a left-brain guy, so analytics and logic are everything to me - this device is nicely designed but *how* it does what it was shocking to me. It just all made sense as soon as I dug in to study it. There are a couple issues, which I plan to feed back to Vance & Hines. For example, I really would prefer the device not to check for firmware updates every single time I use the app...I mean I would never do a firmware update on the device itself if I'm in the midst of an auto-tune, or switching to another app and back. The app needs to support the ability to run in the background without prompting for the same stuff every time you switch.

Would love to see you update this video. There's been a TON of upgrades to this unit, all for the better! I know, I recently bought one for my 2019 R K Special. Paired with my Arlen Ness Deep Cut Monster Sucker, Vance & Hines power duals and SVT Boneshaker Extreme slipons. I am beyond happy with the V&H Fuelpak3. Super easy to install and use. There are the naysayers on this product, but there will ALWAYS be naysayers! As many as there are different bikes out there. Keep on keepin' on Urlacher (is that name of German origin??) I have been wanting to get a set of Vance & Hines short shots on my 2014 Street Bob. I stopped at my local dealership yesterday to get pricing quotes and they told me that Screaming Eagle didn't make a tuner that could accurately reprogram my bike to run those pipes. They never mentioned the FP3. That sounded bogus to me so when I got home I started researching everything and found out about the FP3. This thing will end up saving me a bunch of money since I won't need to pay their labor charges to install the pipes and I won't need to have it dyno'd. Great info in this video.

got one on my 2016 heritage ran auto tune first time and got almost all green on my map. i had one on my old bike 2014 sportster 1200c xl and never could get a good auto tune but my new bike first time i ran it about 500 miles runs like a scalded dog. FP3 LOVE IT

I just installed the V&H FP3 on my 2020 softail. I have an S.E. free flow air filter and S.E. slipons. I didn't notice much more power but much crisper throttle and runs smoother and cooler. Easy to follow instructions as well.

Thanks for your review on the FP3, I bought mine this March with power duals and slash rounds (on a 14 Ultra Classic). You have convinced me that I need to do a AutoTune session. Love the live data; use it all the time. I also give the FP3 5 Stars!

I took out the cat on a 16 flhtcu,put a stage 1 on,and cobra neighbor haters. V&H told me autotune wouldn't work as well. But I did a 200 mile autotune anyway. It showed a ton of green cells, will ride today to see if there's a difference 😁 Thanks Ryan 👍

I have had 4 of these units . They are flawless and nothing compares.

I have a FP3 on my 15 RGU SE. I bought 2 yrs old. It had been cammed, with Rinehart 2 into 1 exhaust. I assumed it had been tuned but no tuner was included with the bike. I autotuned it. I repeat that periodically. A later version of the software add an option to reduce exhaust pop when backing of the throttle. Nice feature. HD mostly just blows in tested packages. This has saved dozens of dyno pulls.

Installed vance and hines power duals and Titan 450 slip ons. Along with a FP3 tuner. Great system. Currently running Auto Tune. Bike running much better. Thanks Ryan for all the info. Keep riding and keep the shiny side up. Thanks also to Vance and Hines. Great System

Great video! Extremely informative from beginning to end for anyone looking to buy a FP3. My only question is, why doesn't the app ask about the air cleaner? My personal opinion I would figure it's more important information to know the engines intake (whether its stock element or an advanced breather) rather than just asking about the pipes? I just installed my FP3 last night along with a big sucker cleaner, hoping to take it out today for its maiden voyage. Great youtube channel and thanks for the video!

Ryan excellent videos you do and that's why I ordered the FP3. I know some dealers are up tight about aftermarket tuners and head pipes. I live in Texas and have gone to several dealers and some of them sale aftermarket tuners ,head pipes etc. I really don't know what the warranty fear-mongering is all about . I just ordered a V&H power dual and Bassani DNT for my 2017 SGS. Keep up the great videos and ride safe .

The best add on fuel management system i’ve ever owned is the FP3. Been on my bike two years now, simple, efficient and priced right along with Vance & Hines keeping it up to date. Recommended for all but all out race bikes.

I just picked up a 2015 Dyna Switchback from the Dealer and immediately started looking for upgrades to the Big Three. Found your video and after reading some reviews, I grabbed the FP3. It arrived this afternoon and I installed it pretty much immediately. Haven't even autotuned at all yet but the precanned Map from V&H has made an already smooth as silk bike run incredibly smooth. Love your videos. You guys don't leave any details unexplained and thats huge for many of us out here. Keep it up. How many podcasts do you guys do per month? I own a 2014 Limited. I purchased a FP3. I have installed a Drago Exhaust system and a Arlen Ness Big Sucker II. I could not get the unit to auto tune. Contacted the local Harley Dealership and Vance and Hines several times. The bike was too rich and would "flood out". Finally got in touch with the right customer service rep and he told me they system does not work with the Drago System and that the O2 sensors frequently get damaged. None of this was on the available literature. Finally got a good map from Vance and Hinees, I wish that the non compatibilty issue had been available when I purchased the FP3.

This is the best video iv seen! Thank you. I just put mine on and so far my only concern is that my bike has stock 2 into 1 exhaust, big breather with no baffles. So I had to select Generic 2-1 stock baffle there was no selection for No baffle under the generic setting. My hope is that running this stock map to start and now auto tuning, it will make up for the No Baffles any suggestions???

Thanks for the video..... I have a FP3 on my 2014 Street Glide Special and it works like a charm. Much better tech over my 2007 HD Ultra Classic with a Fuel Pak from V&H. I have had it on my bike for 4 years and it has worked flawlessly!

Thanks Ryan, this is a good video to help new FP3 users. A few points worth noting on FP3 and autotune: 1) The phone does not need to stay connected to the FP3 while running an autotune. Bikers complain about texting drivers but we need to acknowledge that watching the FP3 app on the handlebar could be an unnecessary rider distraction. It does not help the autotune process at all. 2) When initially running autotune the bike will not run well. WOT results in pre-ignition that sounds like loose ball bearings in the heads. Therefore, you need to initially ride easy which makes it impossible to hit all the cells. It worked best for me to ride easy for 30 minutes, flash the adjustments and then continue autotune while riding more aggressively. I repeated this through several iterations and the bike ran better with each re-flash allowing me to hit more cells that I couldn't reach earlier. 3) I found it difficult to re-flash when my phone was not connected to the internet. I recommend stopping back home or some place with good wi-fi and let the phone connect to internet before doing a re-flash. Not sure if this was a bug in the application last summer but my iPhone 6s would hang in the FP3 app if internet connection was slow or non-existent. Until I figured this out my first autotune experience was miserable. I think the app was attempting to connect to V&H and I couldn't figure out how to turn this off. 4) A side effect of the FP3 on my bike (09 FLHTCU) was that it would sometimes confuse the ECM and put the bike into diagnostics mode which disables the interface to the HK radio. At one point during an autotune ride, I started the bike and didn't notice the diagnostics message. My music was cranking and I had no ability to mute or turn the volume down because the interface was disabled. For this reason I recommend turning off the music while autotuning. 5) Last bit, the FP3 can be disconnected once tuning and flashing is complete. Since it frequently puts my bike into diagnostics mode I find it annoying to leave it connected. For this reason, I used a velcro strap instead of a zip tie to secure it so I can easily remove it. It stays clean and dry in a ziplock bag in the saddlebag. YMMV

This a must have if you own a 15 iron 883 made mine runn alott better even if you have no other mods will do a stock bike wonders !! No lugging 1 when let of clutch no raddle and shake at high rpm . I have v&h slip on straight shots no A/c yet it basically ran the same as stock just alott louder . With fp3 very smooth throughout the whole rpm band and increase in power!! It lives up to the hype !!

I installed the FP3 after watching your video. I called tech support after programing my unit. Tech support told me that I was good to go after programing the FP3 for my slipon exhaust on my 2016 Harley Ultra Limited Low. They did recommend that I set the Throttle Progressivity to moderate. Additionally, they told me not to run autotune until after running at least one full tank of gas though the bike. He said that I might not need to do so.

I just received the FP4 how similar is the set up between the FP3 and the FP4 thank you. Great video by the way!

I bought the FP3 for my 2014 Sportster 48 and I love it. The V&H map for my bike really woke it up and it sounded great but I was getting a very slight popping nothing major no big bangs loln but I felt it could be better so I decided this year bI would start my own custom tune to the way I ride and the FP3 started learning and things started getting even better. the only downside to doing a custom tune is you wont be able to get the "racing" tune because you will be getting tickets while trying to tune in the open throttle higher rpm range.. I don't race so its no big deal but I just wanted to give people a heads up on that. You would have to set up a stationary place like they do with a dyno machine to legally get that kind of tune.

what I found that works best for me was: leave the FP3 outside the sidecover it will run cooler and faster, apply your autotune green cells every 30 minutes, they seem to record faster when you first start recording and slows as you record more data (Low Memory??) . Also it seems to record in some areas and ignore other areas but saving every 30 min seems to help recording in new areas. I've done 6 recordings and "Apply's" in one tuning session before finishing.

Ok so these fuelpaks are usually around $400 . I saw them on sale somewhere for $325 ( maybe on amazon) so I bought one. It is said that you can use a smart phone or android tablet to use the software for them. I bought an android tablet because I don't have a smart phone and the tablet I had stopped working anyway. After two days and searching the web, contacting Vance & Hines and trying to get it to work with the tablet and a few choice words, I finally gave up and borrowed my son's smart phone and it worked like a charm. BOTTOM LINE: If you don't have a smart phone, borrow one from someone and you will save yourself a lot of time and frustration.

A couple things... The dealer will only provide a "Stage 1 download" if you do not elect to purchase a SEPRT and pay for a dyno session (usually $250 a pop.) This Stage 1 download does nothing (to my knowledge) to your fuel settings, but rather just raises your rev limit by a couple hundred. Basically a complete waste of money which makes the FP3 an even better deal compared to the $500 SEPRT option (or even the $400 Power Vision which I currently own.) Lastly, I would strongly suggest hitting way more of the cells in your Autotune process since the majority of your peak power (for passing and fast starts) lies well above the 4000 range (6000-7000.) Sure you might not ride in this range very often, but you'll be leaving about 20-30hp on the table if you don't tune/use the top end of the RPMs.

However, I already have Rinehart 4.5” mufflers on my 2017 Roadglide Ultra. So, my question is, will the Vance & Hines headers work with my Rinehart mufflers ? Also, is there any advantage in using one header system over another ?

I see you adding info the type of exhaust to add to fp3 .. i have a 2012 Deluxe with a standard air filter, it had vance and hines exhaust fitted but i dont know what its called from those in the list you were showing ... my pipes are one above the other, any ideas what my exhaust would be called from the fp3 list? Does it have a cat converter? would it make bike faster if the cat was removed??

I've done some auto tuning on my 14 wide glide and I've noticed at different times when I check for trouble codes that the U0100 lost connection with ECU code comes up. Under the FP3 FAQ section they themselves state that this happens when flashing maps and the system continues learning, but have you experienced this yourself with all the tuning you do?

watched this a few times since put it out and just got one in for my bike, hasn't been tuned since bought bike new in 2011 and stage 2 put on before left dealership. bike has 88k miles and will be putting on more now that moved from wi to nv (50 miles west of vegas). so hoping this will make bike run better, better fuel mpg. do you still have this bike and if so, how is it doing? was also looking to pull out the cat, many say bike runs better.

Put the FP3 on my road king when I put in auto tune mode, is there certain RPM and gears I need to ride in or just ride as I normally would?
