so convenient to be able to shoot it handheld with a proper lens. we have to support in production film like instax so that fujifilm will continue making them ;)

For someone who grew up in the shadow of Polaroid, this is truly an unholy monster. Polaroid invented instant photography. Kodak stole it and got nailed for it . Kodak then sold their technology to Fuji, who turned it into Instax. There is a great account of the whole sordid affair in the book "A Triumph of Genius". So this is essentially mating a Polaroid with adulterated Kodak tech. I can't wait to get my hands on one!

Kodak process used in instax was also patented by Polaroid;Kodak only invent white opacifier;Fuji make only better dyes very satured and super fine grained and at iso 800 vs 320 and 600 Kodak and Polaroid film

I will forever say it - Instax is probably the best instant film ever made, they just support it with bad glass and this is proof. dreaming of the day they made a Fuji X Instax; the evo is the path closer

I love Fuji Instax cameras. I recently used one to take photographs at an 18th. The kids went wild for the camera and film. They loved it. Plus, being physical prints, they won’t lose the photos.

Hello, I have the same/similar camera with the instax wide conversion. I bought mine about 5 years ago, however mine is a 110B so the rangefinder and framing window is combined. I would recommend sourcing a Polaroid 4 stop ND filter which attaches to the lens (since there is no ability to screw filters on). It reduces the film ISO from 800 to about ISO 50 which means you can shoot wide open when outside. I generally prefer the performance at f5.6, I find it is the sweet spot between bokeh and center sharpness especially for portraiture.
@ribsy

yea i want some ND for it. thanks for the rec

Thank you for this comment. I just bought that 4 stop filter and can't wait to try it. When you are shooting without the filter are you raiting the film for 800? I have heard some people are rating it at 640 and getting better results.

I just got this camera a few days ago (but modded for 4x5 film not instax) but still super excited to use it. I've shot instax film using the Lomograflok on my Intrepid and can attest that the film is incredibly when using a good lens. Love the portraits you took.

Great video - partially because you just increased my vocabulary immensely - thanks! "Boke(a)holic" - now that's such a cool word I'll definitely be using! And lots of great photo tips (such as the instax film works best for portraits and not landscapes). Another excellent tip is to use the mint instax camera with a separate meter (I can attest to that). Enjoyed the video very much - thank you. An finally, being from the Bronx myself (although not a beer drinker) - you stirred up feelings in me of "Bronx" patriotism (I love that you t-shirt!)

I had an eBay-sourced Polaroid 110A and had it converted to take 100/660 series film. That was fine, then I set aside to "do 35mm film." When Fuji stopped making Pack film, that lashup became a "filmless classic" like the Polaroid 180/195. I've seen others convert 110-series Polaroid cameras to take Fuji Instax film, which depended upon finding a trashed Lomography Instax Wide camera. (But then, even Fuji's Instax cameras are two steps above trash, anyway.) This has me thinking about this kind of analog photography once again.;)

Dude instax with a wide aperture is a truly god tier combo haha. Call me a bokeh hoe but shooting that shit at f/2.8 on the MUP is pure magic when you can land focus. I’ve had both the 110A and 110B and while most people prefer the single window of the B I find the increased magnification of the A’s rf easier to focus, also that keystone shape seems easier than the circle found in most other rf’s. I’ve never seen black frame wide! I’m hyped it exists when did they release that?

Even though this is so sick and I would love to have one for myself, do you think this might not be necessary with Polaroid printers? I just purchased one myself and I just shoot the photos on my camera and send it over to my printer to give the photos that Polaroid feel. It’s an amazing concept and clearly there will be a certain feel to your process but I’ve been thinking with technology, there is a lot of work around to get the same results for “cheaper” if that makes sense.
