I shoot wildlife on the x-H2S, which has the same layout. What I really need to get to fast and often is subject detection on/off, so I have it programmed to the Fn2 button on the front of the camera, because when I'm shooting, my index finger is on the shutter and my middle finger rests naturally on the Fn2 button. I can press it without shifting my hand or index finger at all.

I am SO glad you asked to like and subscribe AFTER you tell us what you're offering! IMHO it makes no sense whatsoever to be asked to like and subscribe something I haven't seen yet. Had YOU asked in the beginning I would have forgotten to do what I just did; liked and subscribed. Thanks!

I don't know that there is any tried and true best place to do that in a video. If you ask early then people ignore it because they don't know if you're worth it and if you ask late you've probably lost a lot of reviewers already because people will exit before the end of the video. 🙂📷

Hi, I bought the Fuji XH2 with a kit lens. Mainly following your advice about moving the camera from your eye and not having to do that. So many thanks for your previous posting. I'm a newbie to the XH2 having a XPro1 and an Xpro3. I'm branching out into a bit of tree photography. and a more relaxed state of affairs. It's an age related decision as I'm in mid 70s. keep up the great informative channel. Ian B.

I'm glad I could help! As I get older, I find that it's so much easier to do all my adjustments in the viewfinder because of the ability to dial in to reading glasses power. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. :)
@CWReace

I use that button on my XH2s to toggle the front dial to exposure compensation. Why? Because when in manual mode with auto-ISO enabled, it means just one quick press and I can now adjust exposure compensation with my front dial (since there's no dedicated EC dial on the XH2(s) cameras). I use this mainly for bird photography, where I want a specific aperture and shutter speed, and let ISO be automatic...but I need the ability to quickly change exposure compensation depending on the bird (white egret or dark hawk?) and the background (sky or dark forest?), etc. What I never want to do is start shooting video accidentally by unknowingly bumping that button. 😉

One of my favorite hacks on the X-H2 is the digital teleconverter. I use it all the time with the 70-300 to get fake macro shots. It gives you a raw file with the full sensor readout but gives you a cropped 10mp jpeg. You can use it to focus on really small details. If you combine the digital teleconverter with the optical teleconverters you’re golden, it practically makes the 70-300 a real macro lens.

I have the right front button mapped to switch to the other eye when the camera picks the left or right eye. The black button on top rear is mapped to eye auto focus on or off. The right rear 4 way is animal eye on or off. The lower rear 4 way is turning the exposure adjustment on or off then using the rear control dial to adjust the amount. XH2 is awesome.

Great, well-presented video. Thanks. I took @pal2tech's advice and mapped ISO to top button on D-pad so I can change and SELECT with a single button. I have started using vintage lenses and moved focus-check to the ISO button, but your tip changes that. My finger hits the red button before it finds the ISO button. (I have several short videos I didn't intent to take) Moving focus-check to the red button leaves the ISO button free. There are 2 other buttons we overlook: One right side front and the other right side viewfinder. Eye-AF on front button and video (if desired) on VF would also work.

I’m mainly a stills shooter as well, an alright one at that in the landscape/wildlife space. As you said, getting better at that is more important to me than video. Granted I do want to learn to get better at using minimal video, but I’m in no rush with my focus on stills. That being said, the little button on the X-T4 in the same spot as the record button on the X-H2 is dedicated to EyeAF on/off for me as well.

I've had H2 for about 14 days. Even beforehand I was still wondering if the PASM control system would bother me. I've seen the excitement on some YT videos, but as it happens in life, until you get your own hands on it... And now, after a few days, I'm excited. And I'll follow up on your video... mapping the buttons as needed is an amazing thing and makes the X-H2 a rocket. BTW, the H2 + XF50/1 is a faster combo than the H1 + 50/2, so for me the rocket designation is really apt. Thanks ;-)

I took someone else's tip and assigned the ISO function to the DPad up/down buttons. That way I can just start pushing them, and the first push activates the function, and successive pushes change the ISO in that direction. (Works for me, but everyone's needs/preferences are different.)
@BoorayPerry
@BoorayPerry Жыл бұрын
@@CWReace I have it assigned there as well but I'm forcing myself to use the ISO button because it literally says ISO. :)

I always set the face/eye detect on/off action to the button just inside the grip. When your index finger is on the shutter button, your middle finger is likely very close to that inner-grip button already, and I totally agree - sometimes you need to disable face/eye IMMEDIATELY and moving fingers isn't fast enough. Since my middle finger always sits over that inner-grip button anyway, it's even faster to hit than moving my index! That's on X100V, X-Pro3, and X-T3. I think X-H2(S) have that inner-grip button. Give it a shot!

I am still mad about assigning a button on the XT-5 the "subject detect" turns it on and off instead of the list so you can select the subject...

I have it on the button on the right side next to the lens. On/off with my middle finger and I don’t to remove my finger from the trigger button. And.. I mapped the ISO to two of the top buttons preventing me from hitting the wrong button while shooting.

Hi Booray. Here's one suggestion: which, of the 3 new Fujifilm cameras, is the best camera. Forget about megapixel count, etc.

@@BoorayPerry I don't think you need to go that far. Your general impressions would certainly help a lot of people. In my case, I recently purchased a Sony A7RV and a few used lenses. I also have a used A7C. I still own my Fujifilm kit: X-T4, 2 zoom lenses, a prime, and a flash. I have been debating about whether I should go all out Sony or just replace the X-T4 with one of the new 3 X cameras. Every time I watch a video on these 3 X's, I change my mind. LOL. To be honest with you, I first impression is that the X-H2S is the best of the 3 because of the stack sensor, the fabulous AF, etc. It may sound weird hearing this from a A7RV owner but, with Fuji, I am not so concerned about 26mpx versus 40mpx. I trust people like you to help me have a better understanding of the differences. I hope this all makes sense, English not being my first language.

I have a medical background and worked in casualty and also orthopaedics. To have uniformity and not confuse colleagues, we were taught as student to use specific terms for the fingers. Thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger and little finger (trigger finger only used in the military 😊). I had not come across pinky in a while and it was just funny to me. South Africa..
