Twist, all images actually shot with the Sony that was filming with leica and fuji presets slapped on because both the x100v and Q3 just look way too good to take fotos with. Need to keep the milage low for resale value 😊

I have had all X100 series and all three Q's (and own the M10 and M11 as well) - I agree on build, but in IQ it's at best 10% better and mainly in LL.... if the Leicas didn't pay for themselves (for me) I would never buy a Leica over a Fuji...

I have the Q2 and X100, and I always find myself reaching for the Q2, just love the way it handles and the focus and micro contrast seem to beat it the X100

OK so I have ordered a FUJI X-100V and after 4 hours with it I put it right back in the box and ship it where it came from . How can anyone even compare a piece a crap to the LEICA legendary and its legacy . the fuji flash don't work unless other features are off when I need them to be on the focus ring to close to the aperture and the quality of it just not even close to Leica and the menu and layout of buttons really awkward and does not even come a battery charger . Sorry fuji fans but this camera just don't cut it and if anyone thinks it's a professional camera I don't know what professionalism is

most of the Q3 photos are slightly overexposed, the X100V underexposed, otherwise neither images are markedly better than the other. wish you had also shot same scenes with your Pixel or iPhone, then we’d know we could save $3k-$6k

I own a q3, I think it is because of the metering style they chose. If in highlight protection mode, it would be much less exposed and looking much more natural.

Eh shooting in auto made the comparison weird the x100v was badly underexposing at times. Leica was doing better with consistency . Assuming this is for people who are going to leave it in auto well pick your poison over or under 😂

The photo of the burger looked much better on the Q3 than the Fuji I am not sure that was just exposure. Overall my assessment is that there is very little difference if you frame it correctly but… if you need to crop the Leica will win every time. The test was missing low light comparisons and focus tracking which I think are probably the most important attributes. The Fuji is much lighter so more likely to be carried.

It looked as though the Fuji might have had the in-built ND filter engaged. I own an x100v and it has never given under-exposed images as seen here. Also, the front lever operates the ND filter if held to the right for 4 seconds - no need to assign a button.

Fun video! Were the Leica files edited in any way or were they straight out of camera? If they were straight out of camera, were you over exposing a little with exposure comp? Just trying to figure out how to get that same look! Photos looked great.

I have an X100V and am considering the Q3, but I was disappointed the images from the Q3. Most of them to me seemed very overexposed. Is this because the Q3 is new and needs some changes to the settings?

I'd like a small digital rangefinder, but I can't really justify spending so much for something without interchangeable lenses. Here's hoping for an X-Pro 4 maybe? I could get on board with that.

You loaded some custom look to the Q3 that boosts shadows (very easy to observe with the shots at 14:30). The x100 can attain the exact same look in camera if desired. The main pro of the Q3 is the lens, which is sharper and brighter than the one on the x100. And it should be.. for 3x the price. So, the Q3 is a bit better, but is it 3 times better? Nope.

So many videos comparing these two cameras. I have both. There is no contest. One offers a more premium experience. The Leica is so much better. Yes, it’s expensive, but a Porsche is more expensive than a Volkswagen. Both have power steering, electric windows and heated seats. In fact, the Volkswagen can fit more people in, so must be better right? Leicas are hand made and built like tanks. The glass is amazing. Of course, it’s going to cost more.

Should’ve compared RAWs if you were comparing image quality. Can still do auto with RAWS if the metering is the same. the jpgs on Fuji are amazing but the raws on the Leica are just next level.

I had the X100V. The video on it was completely useless since it was so shaky and it overheated very quickly. Plus, the pics looked like I was using my iPhone. Sold it off, and placed an order for the Q3.

I've been working on the topic of Q2 and Q3 for a year now. Watched endless videos. In the end I came to the conclusion when you should buy a Q. Definitely not because of the image quality. Anyone who says they buy a Q2/Q3 because it takes better pictures is not true. I own an a7IV with 24/35 and 50, all in 1.4 GM and I can do everything just as well, even better! So why spend so much money on a Q3? The way is to see Q less as a camera and more as an expensive watch or fancy jewelry. The Q3 fits better as a daily companion than any other camera. It is a perfect complement to your clothes, car, watch, etc. If you are sitting in a restaurant, no other camera has permission to be on the table. It is a feeling of quality work and a part of luxury. 70% of the Leica Q3 makes that feel. 20% the high quality material. Maybe 10% the image quality.

Just fyi, the small pop up lcd in the optical viewfinder pops up when you hold the lever toward the lens for a sec.

I have an X100F and an even older X70. Today I got an email telling me there’s a Q3 for me at the camera store if I pull the trigger within 24 hours. I’ve been on a waiting list since June, and today’s the day. But I’m torn and indecisive. I like my F just fine, and I love the X70. It’s no Q3, but do I really need the Q3? It’s not going to make me a better photographer. Maybe a more enthusiastic one for a while, but I suspect at some point I’d regret the purchase. I’m about 80% in the stick-with-the-Fujis camp. I’ll see how I feel in the morning. It’s 100 miles to Seattle, where the camera store is located. I’ll make the drive and handle the Q3 for a few minutes and make my final decision. Did I mention I really love that X70?

I don’t think the X100 baby EVF can be used while in continuous focus, I had the same panic moment when it stopped working then figured it out

I have an X100V and was thinking of getting the Q3, but I find myself preferring the jpegs out of the Fuji. To me, its clear that Fuji excels with their SOOC images compared to Leica.

@@macbugde How is it a "weird comment" to express my subjective opinion on which camera's jpegs I prefer the look of? I'm glad you prefer your Leica. Would suck if you spent $6000 only to prefer your cheaper camera. I'm just saying that if I bought the Q3, I'd be editing RAW because, to me, the SOOC images need work. Enjoy your camera!

@@reverb508 I thought your comment is weird because you made the decision to not buy the Q3 because you preferred the Fuji JPEGs. That makes little sense from a real photography perspective where the raw file will give you everything Fuji does and much more, especially compared to the Q3.

So you're telling me that although I prefer the way the Fuji images look in this video, I should ignore that and buy the Leica anyway because the edited Leica RAW images will probably look better? Sorry, but I don't take $6000 leaps of faith. And don't give me that "real photographers shoot RAW" BS. "Real photographers" also don't use a fixed-lens point-and-shoot camera for their professional work. Both the Leica and Fuji are primarily targeted at the consumer market. Keep pretending that the red dot makes you a "real photographer". It's a luxury item that happens to take great photos. I'm definitely getting "trying to justify my expensive new camera" vibes from you, bro. Kinda embarrassing.

I switched from an Fujifilm X100F to X100V and there from to the the Leica Q-P. Absolutly no regrets. I loved the fuji jpegs, weather resistance, the weight of the camera and the oled evf but for me the Fujifilm just cant beat the quality of an fullframe sensor. The lens on the Leica is much better. It’s sharper and more versatile with its 28 mm on a fullframe. You get a more beautiful bokeh and more light to the sensor with f1.7 With the Fuji I was missing all of that. Oh and the Fujifilm Photos app has been absolute trash. Most of the time it wouldn’t connect if it connect it would stop transferring images, after that it wouldn’t reconnect. Lost to much lifetime trying to fix it with workarounds. With the old Leica it’s just simple.. Connect, select the images you want and transfer them. Easy as it should be.

your flash issue is because you have the len mod on it. The normal 23mm lens doesn't have that flash issue. :)

Give me a little of both. I love the Q3, but I wish it were at least 35mm. I might like the Fuji, but it cannot be purchased anywhere. Not even ordered. The Fuji may as well not exist.

I believe it's just how it processes colour. Have used a Q2 and the colour information and depth from images it takes are just incomparable...

I sold all my cameras, including the X100V, X-T4, Canon 5D Mark iv + lenses to fund the Q3. No regrets, simplicity, minimalistic kit and for my style of photography it does everything I need it to. Though I did also keep my Ricoh GRiii 😅

F4 to F4 comparison doesn't make much sense due to higher depth of field with FF vs crop. It is making the Leica look far better for portraiture

Both of these are great, but my trusty 10 year old RX-1 still delivers amazing images, so upgrading to Q3 doesn’t make sense for me, and the X100V would be a downgrade. Great and fun video - thanks.

Say the x100 won but all the q photos were way better imo. More importantly I’ve messed with raws from both and there is no comparison if you care about IQ. Both create beautiful photos of course. If they would have included internal memory I would have sold it all for the Leica Q3. 😂 ik I’m an idiot, but I’d do it

So .....20 minutes video without considering any fine art PRINTS ( with a proper Raw to Tiff conversion , NOT on Lightroom or Photoshop...) which is the only way to actually understand what cameras can actually do? My compliments . 🧐

I liked the film sim they were using on the Leica better. I actually don't like Classic Chrome that much; prefer Pro Neg Std., Classic Neg, or Eterna. With that aside, I don't really see anything that makes the Leica look noticeably better. I suspect anyone saying that they see it is just a Leica owner trying to justify their purchase by regurgitating the marketing material and convincing themselves they see it. I'd bet a good amount any of them would fail a blind test. Just the take of a rando on the internet though 🤷

I have both, and the Q3 is far superior in terms of IQ and refinement. The 100V is way overhyped, it feels like a toy in hand. For me the msrp was already more then it was worth and now people would pay the markup? Its a great beginner camera, but once you graduate, you graduate.

@@tzj21 Understand the weight part, and that’s a big reason why the 100v is so popular, so small and light and great IQ. But the IQ can’t touch the Q3 or build quality (it better be, since the price!). The 100v personally for me feels like a toy, obviously by design. My M11 is so heavy, I have the silver one, love it, and has the best IQ, but its best for slow, purposeful shooting and fine art photography. Disagree that 28mm is not ideal, I’ve seen so many great portrait, or environmental portraits with the Q3 that I’m awestruck, you just need to know how to frame it and stay away from the edges of frame. I had Sonys, and definitely best bang for buck and definitely best AF, but just can’t stand them and they are so ugly and cold (to me). While most cameras use Sony sensors, I”m glad they don’t use Sony’s lack of soul.

Some comments say that you used some sort or filter or editing it after the fact for the Q3 pics. For this to actually be useful, your photos needs to be straight out of the camera with zero edits. Otherwise, this video is useless. You need to address that or mention that, and you don't. Thumbs down.
