Fully agree with your positive assessment. I use my 33/1.4 mainly for street and portraits, where it has been performing faultlessly. I also have the WR versions of the 23/1.4 and 56/1.2, which I'm also very happy with---but if I'm only going to take one prime, the 33 is my first choice.

This lens was the biggest surprise for me, as I usually got rid of all my 50 mm (kit) lenses when I first bought the camera. But I decided to take another look since a lot of street photographers swear by this lens and I was not disappointed! It’s become one of my favorite street lenses and this lens is fast and sharp and I’ve gotten some of my best images from it.

Nice review. I am generally very happy with this lens. The image quality and auto focus are excellent.

Nice video, I think the XF 33mm F/1.4 is a fantastic single lens solution, the if you could have only 1 lens kind of thing. I used the 35mm F/1.4 as almost a single lens solution for 5-6 years (from the 16MP X-T1 - through to the 24MP X-Pro 2) It still sees a lot of work today, just not as exclusively (as I have other options) as I now shoot more at 23mm and 56mm (X-T3 & X-T5) . If I didn't have the XF35mm F/1.4, I'd want this lens maybe :) I'm tempted by the 30mm F/2.8 Macro, just because I have the 35mm F/1.4, and Fast 23mm and 56mm lenses, so don't need the F/1.4 and the 30mm does things the others can't... however I just got the X100 VI, now I don't want to use anything else :)

Hi Thierry, I love my 33mm f/1.4. It's my default lens for event portraits and sometimes for street photography. I do think it CAN be a little more clinical in many ways compared to the older lenses, but there are times when I want that and times when I don't. When I don't, I reach for other lenses. All and all, Fujifilm created a fantastic lens!
