I’m SOO glad I made it to your channel! Not to mention, what it took for me to end up here.. I had a common problem with just about all the tutorials I attempted to watch. They were either not detailed enough on the basic interactions or they were way too fast and not descriptive enough. Being a first time owner of such a camera, I will say those tutorials started making me scared to play around with my camera lol THEREFORE YOUR WAY OF PROVIDING US NEWBIES WITH SUCH AN INCREDIBLE, DETAILED & THOROUGHLY INFORMATIVE TUTORIAL WAS SIMPLY PERFECT & I AM VERY GRATEFUL! I also didn’t need to pause your video for any reason, I was able to keep up & follow right along step by step. THANK YOUUUUUUU!

Just got a x100vi. I didn’t like it at first. I usually shoot Sony. But I am coming to appreciate what all the hype is. As a digital camera it just doesn’t compare to Sony. But thinking of it more as a film camera and it opens a whole new world that Sony can’t compete. Thanks for the video. I learned a lot. Sub.

Just found your channel this morning, and you have a new subscriber! I love your style, my friend! I've been trying to learn my new (to me) X100s (got it last week), and you have been more helpful in 2 videos than dozens of others I've tried. The others weren't bad, and I might go to them for other things; it's just that your particular approach *clicked* for me on this topic. The way you took the time to present this so thoroughly made things clear to me that weren't clear to me before. Thank you for your unique voice! It's important to the world. Be encouraged and keep going!! "Keep looking around!"

@@JayRegular Almost! But I think I actually enjoy it that much more than film because of how fuji implements these simulations and their respective recipes, making fuji an all-in-one tool of the decade without any of the film expense added on top. I have to say, I have a soft, marshmallow spot for Sepia, my personal take is that it creates magic with sombre scenes that are essentially littered with white objects, something for example, like an array of white Roman statues in dim light is perfect!

A very useful comparison, thank you. What is a good alternative to XRaw Studio, as it appears it is not supported any more; or at least when I try to run it, most of the features are not present. If you could recommend other software that will let you work from a RAW file to add a film simulation, that would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the instructions on X Raw Studio. Question when you have your X100V connected to the computer and running the app does your camera make any noise? Mine has a mild hum/hiss sound when connected and using the app.

NICE. Thanks for the shoutout - I appreciate seeing those blues! I totally agree about the Classic Chrome sim - I love how it renders blue more as cyan, almost teal. It's beautiful. Seeing them all compared tho, I might start leaning toward Classic Negative, with some tweaks.

If you want to see the affects of film sims just take any Fuji RAW file into X Raw Studio and play with it. X Raw Studio is the only way to get the exact film sims out of the Raw as the in camera jpgs. Because it uses the camera processing.
@JayRegular
@JayRegular 4 жыл бұрын
Yeh I find this to be true. Although capture one does a pretty good job at replicating the film sims. It just doesn't have the linearity in terms of adjustment settings that X Raw studio has
@CrispyOkra
@CrispyOkra 4 жыл бұрын
@@JayRegular I don't know. I' ve find Capture One frustrating, it can take me as much as an hour to get a decent image, yet I've yet to really be happy with any of them. But, I'm sure it's me not Capture One. It seems to me, back in the day (early 2000s) the workflow was much more up front and easier to get great results. I had about a ten year layoff from photography, a lot has changed. I got into photography, for photography not for editing. Why can't they design a sensor that capture descent (raw) images? Frankly, raw images from the XT 3 look like crap and take too much work to make them not look like crap. sorry... /rant
@JayRegular
@JayRegular 4 жыл бұрын
@@CrispyOkra you're not wrong. I find that the more adjustment options I have, the more doubts i have on whether or not my edits are actually that good, whereas with X Raw studio it's the limitations that assures me that I've done the best I could 😁

Wow, that last shot.... Can you save the settings of the last shot into the camera as a profile? You edited quite a lot so I have some doubts, but damn... this is all I was looking for... I'm all for less editing and more shooting.... If this can save such complex settings as profiles... then I might be able to save 100s on this. This is really awesome. Love the down to earth explanations of your videos. Just ordered an x100v and cannot wait to follow in your footsteps. Awesome channel, especially for beginners! Thanks a lot!!

The whole point of using Fuji X Raw studio is to be able to use an existing RAW file from your Fuji camera, and apply the same settings as you would in camera, but on the computer so you can see the effects of the changes as you go. Once you are happy with the edit you just need to go back into your Fuji camera and make a custom profile with the same settings as the one on X Raw studio and that would apply the same look to all your future JPEG images straight out of camera.
