I finally got around to trying the Panny s5IIx, and realized it is a very similar camera to the Fuji X-H2s. This video talks about my initial impressions after playing with the two cameras side by side for a day.

I’ve owned both also. The Panasonic is a fantastic camera. It does fall short in some areas: Negatives: • The rolling shutter is pretty bad • Dynamic Range is not as good as one would hope. It’s usable, but not ground breaking. Positives: • Full frame • L-mount • Good value The Fujifilm XH2S is the superior cinema/mirrorless hybrid: Negatives: • External fan adapter required in certain modes to avoid overheating • Steeper learning curve to get a good image Positives: • 14-bit video in FLog-2 • Superior color fidelity • More organic noise Both of these cameras is in serious need of a cinema focused variant. We know that will come with the Panasonic S1H Mk2. Fujifilm, your move.

This is a great summary! Have to wonder if most of the negatives of the Panny would remedied by changing out the sensor, perhaps with a stacked sensor like from the Nikon Z8/9. And then I'm a little curious what you mean about color fidelity for the Fuji- don't the film sims actually skew accurate color?

now lumix costs 1450$ on Amazon ,or 1780 with 50 1.8. Ibis , Iso , Af , lower file size are better on S5II . Fuji wins in terms of RShutter and 4k120, DR , but only If Fuji would cost like 1950$ .... Sales politic is not a best Fuji feature )

That’s the s5ii, this kne he’s reviewing is the s5iix

@@mex5341 I’m well aware of that. But again, you references the price of the s5ii, when he is talking about the s5iix. They aren’t the same price

@@Eyeofkamau almost the same . 340$ difference when you pay for the body + lens . I bought s5II + 50 and s5IIx + 85 . Also have Fuji and Sony , both Lumix are great

The dynamic range is better on the Fuji by 1.5 stops as per CineD, Gerald, etc. No relation to size of the sensor!
@Wildridefilms4 ай бұрын
Not even close to 1.5 stops. They are very similar in 6k30p video DR (11.9 on Fuji vs 12.2 on Lumix) and the photo DR in S5II is better. The XH2S has much better rolling shutter and slow motion though.

@@Wildridefilms Agreed on the DR. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on these things that I am still testing: (1) Is there a real difference between the 2 cameras 10.2.2 vs 10.2.0 modes, (2) it seems like rolling shutter isn't that bad on the S5, what am I missing (for example, on the Nikon Zf, which I thought was the same sensor, it's terrifyingly bad), (3) how much better is Fuji's 4k 120 to the S5's 1080 120 (and is it cropped).
@Wildridefilms4 ай бұрын
@@MarcAdesso rolling shutter in whip pans on the S5IIX should be similar to the ZF but is not nearly as visible with random camera shake due to the much better IBIS. The XH2s is leagues ahead in rolling shutter but personally I don't find rolling shutter to be a deal breaker, especially with great IBIS like on the S5IIX. For slow motion, the XH2s is undoubtedly a better camera. 1080p 120fps is not bad on the Lumix but noticeably worse than the 4k 120p on the XH2S

@@Wildridefilms that all makes sense!

The Lumix autofocus isn't close at all to the Fuji. I will give Lumix stabalization, sensor size, and maybe image quality but not autofocus.

For what use case? Have you tried the S5iiX? I'm finding it considerably better and more reliable (especially in video) than Fuji, so curious what makes you say that.
