Hey everyone! I'm excited to share with you my hands-on review of the new Fujifilm X-S20. This is a fantastic little camera that I enjoyed using for photography and video. I hope you enjoy watching the portrait photoshoot on the X-S20 with the XF 23mm f1.4 WR LM lens and seeing all the unedited 100% crops of the photos. I also test out this camera body for video, audio and vlogging. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Quick confirmation that the X-S20 is NOT weather resistant. In the original information about the camera that I received along with the pre-production model, it was mentioned that the body is dust and weather resistant so I used it in that way. Unfortunately it is not.

Oh, such a shame about the lack of weather sealing. The X-S20 offers some nice features, but I don’t think I’m going to buy it. What I’m really after is a camera with the 40 megapixel sensor, weather sealing, a higher resolution EVF, all in the same compact body with a PASM dial. At the moment to get all those things I would have to upgrade to the X-H2, which is substantially larger and heavier, or the X-T5 with the retro dials, no flippy screen and a worse hand grip. Neither are so good for walking around with all day. I think there is room in the market for a small, fully featured, more expensive camera.

Julia, as I mentioned in the Capture One video, your style, pace and clear presentation make your videos so enjoyable to watch and learn from. You don't don't speak at warp speed. That's a big help! Nice overview of this camera. One thing I like about Fujifilm is that they offer cameras for both pro and amateurs budgets. And, the quality doesn't suffer heavily in the lower priced cameras. I am an amateur with an X-T3 I bought barely used about 2 years ago and still love it. The X-S20 is something I might consider down the road. Only two things bother me a bit. First, the single card slot as I'm accustomed to having two in the X-T3. Secondly, the non-tilt screen. Wish they had done something like Sony did on the A7V. This seems like a great camera for me. I wanted to get xs10 but smaller battery was minus for me. This one gets bigger battery which is amazing

I'm kind of surprised how good the onboard mic sounds, obviously a stand alone mic will sound better, but for casual easy on the go vlogging, this seems like such a good little camera! Plus it looks absolutely beautiful!

Extremely useful review for me, especially the vlogging test. IBIS looks better than my XT4 but not as good as Panasonic S5ii that im considering (X-S20 still has some warpy wobbling going on in the corners). You've helped me make my decision! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks so much for another great review! I have the SX-10 and love it! This one may make it's way into my camera stable. It's great to see the AF has been improved. Now if Fuji can just ramp up their video centric lenses they have some great lenses for photography but they new some newer faster focusing and more quite lenses. Cheers.

Great review as always! So dope to see the refinement of the X-S10, especially with the autofocus and weather sealing! A weather sealed camera at that price point is amazing. Also one thing you didn't touch on (or maybe I missed it) is the pop up flash. Its super cool to have on there and I really enjoyed it with my X-S10 (got all those Terry Richardson style shots!). So glad they kept it on there!

I think we need a xpro4 with weather sealing and retro design. Not as heavy as a Xh2 or xt5 but more retro inspired. Okay maybe xt5 with a more classic and better feeling dials, made in Japan, quality workmanship. I will sign 🆙 now!

As long as the af and stability is good I think this is the best budget option for vlogging for fujifilm. The xh2 and xh2S just costs so much more and a lot bigger and the xt5 has no flip screen sadly

Whoa, the handheld video IBIS looks great! It doesn't have any of the jumpy/stickyness of other fuji cameras. Did they finally figure out video mode IBIS?

Having waited for some time to see if Fuji, after some years of neglect, would release a sensibly specced body that did not produce the 40mgp files I don't need, I just gave up and purchased a S10- an excellent unit. However, the AF was still a generation behind the IAF of the Sony a6400 I borrow when I am to take shots of impatient adults- who only use their phones for imagery and restless children. Therefore, it is very disappointing to see that Fujifilm has just released a body that addresses my longstanding AF complaints. That said, I do not intend just dropping a heap on money on the S10 which is generally an excellent camera.

I suspect the AF issues noted with the 16mm lens are because that lens is quite old now. A great lens for photo but less so for video. The 23mm on the other hand has the linear motor and is much better for continuous AF. Either way, I’m replacing my X-T4 with the X-S20 :)

Yep I did mention that in the video, I also shared more video AF tests after the vlogging segment on the newer 23mm and you can see the speed improvements :)

R8 would probably be the best! It has a bigger sensor and better autofocus. Plus the RF lenses are incredible and you can adapt older ef lenses as you work your way up to the more expensive rf mount

Looks like Fuji really packed a lot of good stuff into this camera. May have to rent it and see if it is worth getting rid of the R6 II. I am getting away from client work and wanting something small and light that I can just document family life with. Your reviews are absolutely the best!

Do not get rid of your eos. Fuji and Canon can live together very well. The Fuji it’s a joy to use and the color are fantastic, but you have to take into account some missed picture. The canon is a professional tool that will bring home any picture. High iso hands down to canon

Thank you! No, all my videos are filmed with the Sony A7sIII. I mention towards the end when the X-S20 video files start playing, it's the video shots of Amelia on her own without me in the frame and the vlogging shots I did too.

Any chance of a review of the Viltrox 75mm 1.2? I’ve bought it, but I’d love to see what a professional thinks. This is a great video! This camera looks like a fantastic alternative for anyone who wants a Fuji camera without the dials of the X-T series and don’t need the high end X-H cameras.

these are very different cameras. but i think the x-s20 is wayyy more advanced. I have the x-s10 and after buying it after having x-t3 it didnt feel much of a "downgrade". when i had the x100v, it was that feeling, that its way more limited and way slower. but as i said, x100v is for simple slow process, while this feels more like a premium camera in comparison.

Thank you so much for an in-depth review including an on location shoot! That's why I love your reviews. Real world usage. The problem with this camera is the Sony a7c exists. The Sony A7c is smaller than the X-S20, full frame and has a much better battery. (comparing the A7c to the X-T4 which has the same battery as the X-S20). The eye autofocus is also better on Sony cameras.

but A7c no 10bit 4.2.2 only 8bit for video. For content creation, I would prefer a10-bit color depth with a lot more room for color grading and exposure control

@@TonyLuuvlogs IDK man, the biggest content creators on the internet are using their phones, so do you really need that 10 bit? Example: Auto Focus. Shot entirely on his phone. 603k subscribers. Get it right in camera and you'll have a lot less work to do in post for color adjustments/exposure.

Are you able to confirm the weather sealing ? From what I've read the xs20 is not water resistant I know the lens is but body is technically not right ?

The original brief I received said it was dust and weather resistant, but I will double check now, not sure why there isn’t any info on this. For my other video coming soon, I used it in the pouring rain for an hour and it was fine 🤷♀️ I’m not sure a non weather resistant camera would have survived that tbh
