Hi Kevin, So good to see you on YT. Thanks for a quality overview of the 100VI. Your many years in the photo profession is clearly shining through. 500,000 divided by 15,000 per month is 33 months so some unlucky folks will receive theirs in 2027!! By that time other camera manufacturers may produce competitive products so perhaps some 100Vi pre-orders may be cancelled, shortening the queue. I have large hands and swapped from Fuji to Nikon Z7 a couple of years ago but I couldn’t resist pre-ordering the 100VI as a walkabout, take everywhere camera. I look forward to your future professional presentations. Subbed! Greetings from London. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Kevin, my first camera was a Konica Auto S2 built in 1965. I bought mine used in 1974. This was a rangefinder camera with a exceptional fixed 45mm lens, ultra quiet Copal leaf shutter, full manual, aperture priority, and shutter priority modes, self timer, I could go on. You never forget your first love and I know you can never go back, but I look at the x100v and vi and think that maybe just maybe I can revisit the past.

Neat camera! But the backlog is putting me off. I think I'll stick with my XPro3, and see what the XPro4 has to offer, and order that quickly should it ever come to be.

I shoot with an A7RIII 42mp full frame, interchangeable lens can be a small camera with a small lens. Can be a large camera with an L-bracket and a big lens. I considered buying a Fuji X100V a couple of years ago but no way I'll let myself get price gouged.

Get the xpro3, it's a more fun camera and has the best build quality out of all the modern cameras.

You dont have to get price gouged. If you get on a waiting list you’ll have it in a couple months for regular price. It’s also a very different experience than a full frame Sony.

Kevin. I read your article before coming across this video and your comment about people asking basic questions and maybe they shouldn't be buying the camera. Maybe I fall into that category. I've had to Google some very basic questions on the x100vi. I've not owned a 'proper' dslr camera in over 20 years. I sold the Sony because quite frankly it was a pia having a big camera with a largish lens hung round my neck. It got to the point I despised it. Been using mobile phone cameras for years. Nokia's with Zeiss lenses. Then the Google Nexus / pixels right up to the present day pixel 8 pro. I value the retro look and size of the Fuji and proper viewfinder. What sold me on it totally was the film simulations. Bring able to make digital look analogue without hassle. I have a very small time widow to learn to use the camera before my bucket list holiday and that is if it comes in time. Because of that the first basic question was how to use it in fully auto mode. So am I part of this group that shouldn't be buying it ? Would I be buying the x100vi if the pixel had the same fantastic film simulations...that's the £1600 quid question. It's af won't find my Mrs face in a group and focus on her. It doesn't have wide and telephoto lenses and it wont hold a candle to the pixels astrophotography capabilities.. so why purchase it ?

The X100VI is a really nice camera to work with. But it is a camera you will need to learn. Shooting automatic like you mention is super easy and may be all you need. Just set lens, shutter and ISO to A. AF is good but it does need to be set. The face AF is great and especially if you turn the Eye AF on. There are some good KZfaq videos out there to help you set things up. Good luck and have fun.

Like so much consumerism, there's a lot of hype involved. Yes this is a good camera. I'm sticking with my X-E2 I bought 10 years ago, really small like the iV with my 27mm pancake lens but has the option of using other lenses. Film simulations and other adjustments have been available on Fuji forever. The 40MP iV sensor is a numbers game, no more actual resolution/detail than the V 26 MP.

you need to divide at least 500.000 by 3 as soooo many people have done multiple stores just to see where they get it first
@photoPXL
@photoPXL 4 ай бұрын
That is most likely a good calculus, but the reports in the industry say what they say. Even divided by three the number is still super high considering output is 15,000 a month. Having once worked for a camera company as a VP, I know where to look and based on what is being reported, this camera could turn out to be the best-selling camera for all time. We will have to see.

@@photoPXL no doubt that it will be the best selling ever … but demand is not as huge as it seemed, I have worked with Fuji and also know the main Fuji people here in Europe and I can get one 1-2 weeks after ordering (still to this day :)

Why did you buy it? I have A complete multi body and lens Sony system. And a complete multi body and lenses fuji system. This camera I use for something different than the larger systems. And, even with the 100v I always have found the image quality excellent. I think the files are quite good. I come from working with Phase One files for a very long time. I know image quality and this camera delivers in my opinion. The good thing is if you want to sell it it is a sellers market. You gotta do what makes you happy.

After many years in photography I try to avoid the hype around cameras, so I always wait a bit and see what is up and down with a camera from those who have had the camera for a while. Personally, I chose a Sony A7CII instead, with a much better autofocus and the ability to change lenses, and there are some really good small lenses from Sony and Sigma, if it has to be small. And if the lenses require it, the camera can also be made larger with a small grip, and that's what I call versatility. Also, I don't care about Fuji's jpgs because I prefer to do it in the actual editing. And if it really has to be really small, I have the Ricoh GRIII and GRIIIx, and they can be in my trouser pockets, and after all, the Fuji X100VI is not that small, because the two Ricoh cameras are probably both half the size of a Fuji X100VI, but of course they don't have a viewfinder. So I'm not saying that I can't understand those who choose a Fuji X100VI, because there is a lot of retro about that camera and it's a beautiful camera, and this also means a lot to many of us. However, I also think there is a bit of Rangefinder style with the Sony A7CII in a more modern version, but it can also be quite simple to operate with the wheels and buttons if desired. In addition, the Sony A7CII is also in many areas superior to the Fuji X100VI except for the different jpgs possibilities, but luckily we are all different and my choice is no more right than everyone else's, but I think the hype around the Fuji X100VI is a bit Too much.

Jess, there are many choices out there. One of my other favorite cameras is the Sony rx100vii. So small and so powerful. Because of what I do such as teaching and consulting and working with lots of cameras I love the rx100vii too. It can literally fit in a pocket, has a zoom lens and viewfinder. We will be doing a story on this camera soon as a follow up. If you have something that works for you then that is what counts, no right or wrong. I still fin it amazing how many orders that there is for the Fuji x100vi though.

I think buyers are purchasing to say they have one and will never use the camera. It’s unfortunately an impulse buy for many people who will wear it around and still shoot with their iPhones. Just my two cents.
