Fulgor Milano Sofia Oven Problems

I've been having issues with my oven. This posting illustrates what the problem is. Fulgor tells me it's user error or normal that it takes 3 times to light an oven. This video shows that I followed instructions and that it is not normal. It's hard to hear, but the ignitor lights the oven. But the flame goes out after 2-3 seconds each time. It takes 3 tries to get the flame to stay on (each time it ignites successfully though)

Wow, this is exactly what happens with our Fulgor 36” oven. The stovetop is terrific, but it’s oven is garbage. We have had them out to replace multiple parts multiple time’s. Each fix has worked for a few months before the problems return. The oven takes maybe 6-10 times to light and will frequently cut out while cooking a meal. There are times it won’t stay lit to heat a pizza at lunch. I’ve never regretted a purchase more than I do buying this oven. I have a fantasy of destroying the oven in a field like the scene from “Office Space” with the copier/ fax machine. Good luck.

We have the same oven and the same problem. Despite following instructions to push in the knob, then immediately turn to high and KEEP HOLDING THE KNOB IN for 5-10 seconds, it took over 20 attempts tonight to get the oven to light and stay lit. Multiple service calls haven't fixed this issue, which we now live with. It's a lemon! Stay away!

Mine was replaced after 2 years of this hassle. the next gen works perfectly. Having this issue and hoping it gets better but it gets worse with time.

i read on the fulgor site that when lighting the oven, you must have the door open initially. so sorry to hear these issues you are having. i have been researching and wanted to buy the S1 model but it has been discontinued!

I have the EXACT same problem. Brand new. Just had it installed yesterday. Day One. If I turn it to the Broil side on the left it ignites, but NOT the bake. This is a serious fail. What to do?

I’ve have the same issue on my Milano and asked for the thermocouple to be replaced under warranty. Parts never shipped nor did they send someone out for service.

Very same issue here. It's easier to light a rocket engine than to light the oven. Definitely a design flaw. Have tried all sorts of fixes. It's still hit or miss.

We were experiencing a similar issue. Here is what their service people recommended to us: Once the knob is depressed you have 9 seconds of sparking so the way to ignite the oven: Push in the knob, then immediately turn to high and KEEP HOLDING THE KNOB IN for 5-10 seconds, then turn down to desired temperature and the range will light every time and stay lit. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j6iiqLumuNylpaM.html I have to say this has been working for us. Hopefully this helps someone. We do love our Fulgor Milano Sofia range.

Hi Bryan. Did the Fulgor Milano folks fix the issue for you? What was the fix in the end - from your reply to the comment, they replaced the whole burner? Our stove did this from day one. How long did you own your stove before this happened?

Yes, they replaced the entire burner assembly in order to repair it. However about 2 months ago, the issue returned. At this point I have just learned to live with it.

Hi Bryan, any update on this? Are you still having this problem after the burner replacement? You mentioned that you were just learning to live with it. That seems like an unacceptable result given how much these ranges cost.

Yes, I am still having issues with the replacement about 50 percent of the time. Since we have a workaround, we have elected to live with the issue. I am not sure if this issue is widespread, but for us, I would not be recommending this brand.

@@bryanylim We're having the same problem with a brand new Fulgor Milano Sofia model F6PGR304S1. Based on the views your video got and the comments, it's clearly happening to multiple people. We'll get the burners replaced but this sounds like a design flaw to me.

@@bryanylim I am just now starting to experience this issue with our Sofia 36 " - not even a year old. I called LaVetta group for service and of course the day the service person came out it worked perfectly. I am not settling for this as it's a very expensive stove $5400 i would have purchased a known brand if i had known of the issues. I loved teh stovetop 20000BUT burners but obviously i didn't do my research .. THis is NOT a great stove.

Couple of things to try for more reliable ignition: have the oven door open a couple of inches for improved air flow and / or, light the broil first and let it heat up for about 15 seconds then turn off and ignite the bake. Since the tubing run to the broil is shorter there is more time for the thermocouple to heat up. Since the thermocouples are joined the preheated broil thermocouple will keep the gas valve open for a little longer allowing the bake thermocouple to get to temperature and take over the duty of keeping the gas valve open during use.

I got the same problem with the milano, all you need to do is turn on the fan and it will stay on. Once is heated up you can turn the fan off.

I'm looking at a whole Sofia package, looks like great quality but looking at reviews now... what would you say?

I wouldn’t recommend it if I were in your shoes. I think quality is lacking. We just had the front panel lcd display start to go bad. It’s not a deal breaker but we have not had issues with previous brands before.

We tried that as well as that was what the technician asked us to do. Unfortunately, it didn’t work and required a hardware replacement. The problem has returned lately though so we’ve unfortunately learned to live with it.

@@judithmontreuil7173 I would not if this issue bothers you. Some people can live with this problem though. When it comes time to replace this unit, I will be looking to other brands.
