What’s more exciting than an instant classic? Music City Trucks knew they needed to hit the ground running, and they decided to do this by building a classic 1991 GMC Suburban they named Unbreakable. They chose this truck for a few reasons, one being the last of the classic square body style, and another because it’s the biggest SUV of its era. The Suburban is a prime example of a beginner off-road rig where parts are readily available at a reasonable price.

Yeah I'm a year late seeing this video build. I came here just to make your same comment...lol Nobody likes the pizza cutter look. Interco has feel off their tire size game big time. All their Bogger's being 13.50 width unless you go all the way to a 44/19.5 which is a lot of tire to handle. They need to go back to making some 39.5 and 42's in a 15 or 17 width. Something that will look good on a ten in or twelve inch wide rim. Come on now Interco. Yall need to do better.

Cool build, but watching that come at me, on video, I think it was a mistake, to leave those wheels so far inside. I think I would have made that things suspension a bit wider. You had plenty of room and even could add fender flares, if needed.

As a crew chief and team manager on a 4 car NASCAR Open Wheel Modified team for 9 years i learned a very important lesson. ALWAYS replace any bolt and self locking nut that took a hit on the parts that took that hit, ALWAYS. The bolt and nut took the same strain as the part that got bent or broke. It keeps your high performance vehicle from falling out of competition. I learned this the really hard way, trust me!! Ya'll seem to have the basic skills to use very expensive parts and components, so to keep them in working order it seems you have a lot to learn. Being young and have access to cash is just the baby steps of your modification process. LIVE AND LEARN

Good build. Personally would've done some paint on the firewall and interior parts though. And rhino lined the floor pans underneath while the frame was free from the body. Plus, you should've sealed up the quarters and rockers as well. 3 years those panels you just chopped off are gonna be rusting again. I feel like there MAY have been some corners cut on this build. Maybe not as many corners as other builds I've seen... but still, I noticed alot of things I would've done very differently. This is why I like to watch the Ekstensive guys in texas build lifted vehicles. Because they cross all the T's and dot all the I's. Gussets everywhere, braces and brackets all fully welded, four link bars engineered and made from scratch thick wall tubing... just serious quality. My problem with this build really is that, it's a budget build in a sense that pretty much anyone could make their suburban look like this with parts that can be attained relatively easy but, you blew the whole thing apart and cut as many corners as you could to make the "budget" of which we still have no idea what the budget was. Idk... love the truck, not happy with the workmanship. I feel like they spent more time on the front bumper than they did on the entire suspension set up.

Offroad clearly is not their strong suit and they brought Swampers to a trail ride. But all in all, I like the way she looks as she sits. I have 3 projects goin myself, also a 91' Burban, a 77' K5 Blazer and an 88' S10 Blazer. Doing alot of sealing on the the Burban and s10 blazer. The K5, I am going for show quality more then an offroad build. The s10 blazer is fully waterproof, even the motor (350 small block from a speed boat). The Burban is more of a family offroad build. So roll bars are adding more weight to keep the tires down and keep it as safe as possible for the kids.

I thought it was funny they didn't do a transfer case guard, being they are wheeling a suburban and are garenteed to get highsided. Also going tall is a bad idea, much better to have massive suspension travel than be super tall. Less rollover risk.

Of course they should have boxed the entire frame but it was a pretty cool video anyway. Looks like fun. My build started as a 3/4 ton and I swapped out axles with FF 14 bolt and Dana60 with crossover steering as well. I've got e lockers front and rear, 35" tires, 4" lift and I......boxed the frame. I too have a 383 and Sniper 650 mated to a built 700R4 and NP 205. The biggest difference is I won't beat on my rig like they did and can do what they did in the video including getting stuck in that deep mud hole. My jump would also been 1/3 the distance. Thing is, it's my daily driver and being easier on the pedal when off roading means I'm far less likely to break stuff than they are.

I bet that mud run this thing got stuck in is just two deep grooves under the water with hard pack between them. The only way to not get stuck is to be the guy out there with the biggest diameter tire, or have such an odd axle length that the tires run on the outside or inside hard pack. Look at the Samurais with the cut down Dana 60's and the same Super Swamper LBT tires, but where the outside of the tire stays flush with the outside panel of the Samurai. Those things are unstoppable because they don't hit the same places on obstacles as everyone else running stock length 3/4 and 1 ton axles. I would love to see this Suburban worked more with adding strengthening to the frame. Maybe not a fully boxed frame, but X plates put in strategic locations and additional cross beams added. A boxed frame is great in theory, but unless every hole is filled, it will fill with mud and water and start rusting super quick. Using X plates gives the strength, but still allows you to get in there and clean them out. Maybe adding a self cleaning system of a hose with sprayers mounted inside the frame would work well. Just hook up the pressure washer output to it, and let the magic happen.

this brings me back to my teens on my first offroad 4x4ing adventure while drunk n possibly high too.😁 Me and my buddy jumped in with a guy from our town we barely knew who was driving a lifted 4x4 suburban and it was light snow at beginning of winter. We were absolutely BLOWN AWAY when this suburban seem to just fly up a river hill that was at least 30 degrees if not close to 45. it was several hundred yards up and when it finally seem to be powering out or losing traction we were shitting our pants thinking we would slide backwards and probly roll over killing us all. TLDR, it made it all the way up we didnt die, lol I was so thrilled i bought my own 4x4 bronco a few yrs later which was very fun but not quite exilerating as that first 4x4 adventure. But the BRONCO had its advantages too, one being the top came off which was supper cool in the summer for haulin ass n drinking beers or 4x4ing in muddy pastures, hunting gophers with1-4 buddies. PLUS it had a big back seat with tinted windows which was like a cool mobile hotel room ;-)

That swing gate looks awesome. I think wider tires with more offset would be cool as well. A few other things that I would change on it but overall is a good job. Edit: Finally watched the end of the episode and It satisfied a few needs. Lol

i love it, but my only beef with it is the small tires and lack of offset on the wheels. looks really funny. sway bars wouldve been a plus as well

Now that the on board air system is mounted it's pretty much done other than wiring and plumbing - this is how you know they wanted to go home or the producers where rushing them. Same with under the hood. Engine/tranny mounted I call it done! Except for all the wiring and everything else. All they really have to say is hey we aren't going to show this because it's fairly simple and it's been shown on other episodes.

Turned out so great! Don’t know why there are so many negative comments on here.. lots of hard work put into this! And to the guy talking about the big shop and tools I’m sure hard work paid for that not KZfaq sponsors… haha

Maybe stiffen up those shock mounts , seeing how it already bent , with a triangle piece welded for support. Maybe fishplate the weaker spots on the frame or box it. Awesome build love it!!!!!! Butt connectors work fine. Should shrink wrap it. Don't ever use scotch locks on anything you want to last!!!

That's actually not a bad idea. Give you a better idea of what carbs/pumps/injectors will feed what levels of power. It will also test parts manufacturers claims of "supports up to X horsepower"
