Thank you for focusing the camera on the bolt and not a bench in the background so we can actually see what you're doing.

Love this tutorial...easily the best and most detailed explanation I have come across so far.

Thank you, this video has been invaluable to me. I’ve used it twice on my RPR magnum to recover from the firing pin getting turned the wrong way, and also to swap the firing pin and bolt shroud. You really focused on getting the parts in the right configuration and it helped me a ton.

This was a much better video than the others I have seen. Thank you. One tip: the bolt handle can also be used to compress the firing pin assembly to get the firing pin tool back in place. Thanks for the great video tutorial!

Outstanding! A client of ours showed up with his bolt disassemble… without your video his day with us would have been ruined. He came from six hours away, so getting the bolt back together on the range made a huge difference for him and for us. And… we learned something too!👍😎 thanks so much!

Clear, concise, all operations visible on camera. No needless discussion. Why can’t all videos be like this?👍👍

Outstanding video and demonstration. Straight to the point without useless narrative. Best video I've seen to date for disassembling/reassembling the bolt. The owner's manual is useless. I struggled for quite awhile until I found this video and I got my bolt reassembled in just minutes.

Well that was a life saver. I was watching another "instruction video" that got me as far as installing the tool and it just popped out of it's position, collapsing the spring and taking a bite out of my index finger.....Now what do I do? your close up video of re-installing the tool showed me what to do! Thanks a lot I have subscribed, liked and will bookmark this video. Much appreciated.

A "complete" disassembly and reassembly would include the ejector and extractor.

I like the video, I was a little disappointed that you didn't remove the extractor. I need to headspace a new barrel and I'm not sure how to do that.

Thank you for the video. Am also an owner of an RPR in 223/556. I have subscribed and will certainly be referring to your video when disassembling my bolt for cleaning. One recommendation. I found the plastic tool supplied by Ruger to be flimsy. So I purchased a metal version from Brownells. LRI is the manufacturer. On Brownells website, search for: 100-025-313WB Fire Control Disassembly Tool for the Ruger RPR

Thanks so much. I dropped my bolt, and it landed RIGHT ON that little ear on the silver piece. SNAP! Of course a "send it back to us" part, but I sweet talked the nice lady and she shipped me the part. Was a 10 min fix, other than having to take about .002" off the punch from HF. I am sure I will order a Billet one . This made it super easy...

Glad it helped. Believe it or not I actually watched it tonight to remind myself the procedure before I disassembled mine after a long time since.

Great video. When installing a custom bolt handle & fluted shroud, I let the firing pin assembly take-down tool slip and it locked down in the fired position. I was checking on youtube how to re-cock the assembly to insert the take-down tool. This video by far explained the easiest way to do it. I was then able to easily install the new bolt, re-cock the pin assembly and reinstall the new shroud. Two thumbs up!

Thank you for posting this great vid. What size punch does it require for the roll pin?
@viper8049 Жыл бұрын
The size isn't really important as long as it is a little smaller than the size of the pin/hole. You're not actually removing a press fit pin, it is held in by tension of the spring.
@doubleedge72504 жыл бұрын
Any info in replacing the extractor? Can’t find a video anywhere on this. Thank you sir!

What size Roll pin goes in the firing pin assembly, the one you tapped into the modified white paint can cap?

I did not even fully disassemble, I simply need to recock the firing pin so that I can put the tool in, however the springs will not compress
@khaair4 жыл бұрын
Is it the exact same for the ruger precision magnum?
@wavular Жыл бұрын
Im curious, what size roll pin are you using in the firing pin assembly to prevent the pin from backing out?
@viper8049 Жыл бұрын
I don't recall exactly what size the punch is. It is probably 1/16 inch. Just pick one big enough to not pass through the roll pin center and small enough to pass through the hole in the bolt. 5
@wavular Жыл бұрын
Actually I meant the roll pin itself, not the punch tool.

I fell off the edge and went too far. How do I get it back where it should be?
@viper80493 жыл бұрын
I didn’t know either so I did it myself. What I did was got a piece of rubber (like a jar opening pad or small piece of mouse pad neoprene) and gripped the cocking piece. I then rotated it up the ramp and back over the ledge again. And repeated until it was back up. You have to do it twice or the cocking piece will be 180 degrees off. It wasn’t too hard to good. You just need a good grip.

It helped. It convinced me never to buy a Ruger Precision rifle. Who designed this piece of junk?

Try doing this with a Ruger American. Trust me, you will lose your mind unless you buy the tool from Anarchy.

they have nice gun but should avoid buying anything from Ruger if you care about having spare part so you don't have to depend on them for repairing because they don't sell every part you may need, that mean if the firearms you have get banned or if government make mandatory registration your screw and will have no way to repair . Another reason imagine having to send back you rifle to Ruger and having to spend 300$ In shipping and work to change a 50$ part that what happened to many people who bought from Ruger because Ruger refused to sell them spare part. People should avoid buying things from corporation who want you to depend on them for repair .

Thats not a complete disassembly of the bolt, you forlot the ejector in front .
@viper80492 жыл бұрын
OK, Sharp eye, you got me,.....you are right. Is that a part you generally disassemble when cleaning your bolt? Even after many sessions that is a part I don't take apart unless there is a problem or I am doing a top to bottom detail clean and polish. What about you?
@SkellyWaggs10 ай бұрын
Dude… my pin will not come out no matter what I do
@viper804910 ай бұрын
Is your bolt still Factory assembled or has it been taken apart before? If it is "that hard" to punch the pin out then the slot it sits in must be out of line with the hole slightly. The best suggestion I can give is to try twisting the parts to relieve some pressure or apply pressure one way or the other as you try to punch out the pin?
@MrHubbard7388 ай бұрын
False advertising you did NOT install the bolt back in the action of the gun. I have a rimfire and the bolt will not go back in. I think because the trigger was pulled while the bolt was out . I'm looking for an easy way to reset the trigger without taking the action out of the stock. Reply back if you know a way . Thanks
@viper80498 ай бұрын
I will check it out tonight and get back to you. It should be an easy fix.
@viper80498 ай бұрын
I checked both my Ruger American Rimfire and Precision Rimfire rifles and neither will drop the striker when the bolt is removed so I don't know what issue you have going on. I pulled the bolt, attempted to pull the trigger which would no fall and then reinserted the bolt and cycled it 2 times on each of my Rimfires. Good luck with your issue.
@viper80498 ай бұрын
On the outside chance you didn't mean "rimfire" I checked my center fire Precision Rifle (.223) and it works the same. The trigger will NOT operate if the bolt is removed. Again, good luck with your rifle.
@someguy50354 жыл бұрын
You didn't even mention how to take the bolt out. WTF.
