I found myself replacing the bolt handle on my rifle and the firing pin became fully compressed because of my error. Thank you for posting this video. It made it very easy to put everything back in place due to this video. It was a bit difficult but I was able to do it and now my rifle is ready to go again.

I'm right where you were at. Wish I had that nifty little tool, probably going to get on that. Bent a wall plug to be my tool. Rifle is once again a rifle.

Good vid but need close-ups! Camera is too far away to see everything.

Just a suggestion. You might mention this does not exactly look like a 300 PRC. You might also mention that if your hands aren't strong enough to hold the tabs on the pin spring depressor while you unscrew the pin spring be careful using pliers or a vice. The bolt handle has a very sight depression in it that when you reassemble locks the pin assembly in place. I rubbed those off on my spring compressor/shroud retainer using pliers to hold it so on reassembly it would spin in the handle until it slid the 1/4 turn and unlocked from the bolt and the spring decompressed. Over and over. Don't use pliers, you can use a 3/8 wrench or adjustable wrench to screw it back together and then re-compress it. Additionally you can't see any threads through the pin hole on the 300 PRC, even with a jewelers magnified light, so the notch on the roll pin fits in the threads. DO NOT line up the gap in the roll pin towards the threads. The threads can then unscrew or tighten in the slot of the roll pin. The notch in the roll pin needs to be 180 from the threads. There is also nothing in this video to tell you how far to screw the pin back in on reassembly and the 300 PRC is different. Fortunately I looked at mine before I took it apart. Lastly there is no mention of when you reinstall the shroud pin and bolt assembly that it has to point a specific direction or the whole assembly won't go back into the rifle. The bottom line is if there is a list of mistakes one could make doing this because the video is not for a 300 PRC I made every one of them and damaged my bolt handle in the process. There is another KZfaq video where the guy goes through the disassembly and reassembly of the shroud and pin that is much more detailed and even though parts and pin assembly look like whats in this video he is detailed enough to keep you from making any of the litany of mistakes I did. So you get me for $65 for another pin and a fresh $120 for the bolt handle and knob. This video is absolutely horrible for the 300 PRC, has wrong information in it, lacks detail, and the camera is too far away. You should have a disclaimer on this video that says if you have the 300 PRC and intend to use this video, DON'T!!! Take it to a gunsmith or don't do the upgrade. Here's a link to the much better instructional video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/astoqJaSzLPXlqM.html

Just an added note. On your website I found the cocking pin in the video. Says it's for an American. Also shows the 300 PRC cocking device like mine but makes no mention of it being different.

If Anarchy Outdoors develops a tool to compress the firing pin spring, similar to the Remington 700 and clones, I know it would sell.

Is there a firing pin in the works for the newer version? Think ruger updated their firing pins recently in the rpr short action.

Yes and new shroud.

I'm getting light primer strikes every time, with three different types of ammo, after installing the AD Arms firing pin back on a Ruger American 300 blk. Any advice?
@AnarchyOutdoorsOfficial2 жыл бұрын
I would reach out to AD arms with your question.

The video states min: 9:18 - "Send it off to us we'll do it for free." When I followed up with them on that --I come to find their version of "free" actually means $40. For something that clearly here takes him 5 minutes. Lost what was going to be a $500 sale on that one... just based on principle.

Send it we can take care of you. This is an older video and time change. You can always reach out and chat with Aaron.

You should sell a little cylinder that slides over the pin end that's longer than the pin, so it protects it. That was painful to watch you push the end into the table...

Is it normal for the shroud to wobble around or should it be a snug fit?
@AnarchyOutdoorsOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is normal. To tight and you will get a hang fire.

Why does the bolt shroud, firing pin, and shroud retainer not work with a .300blk model? I want to upgrade my rifle for reliability but none of your parts seem to be compatible with my rifle.

The 300 BLK is its own design I believe.

HI Cody great video i have recently purchased a titanium shroud my next move is to replace the firing pin. I noticed how tricky the fireing pin reset could be. i found a video that made it easier for me to reset it here it is kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f7J8lMKaqquznGw.html Maybe you could incorporate this technique into a future video.
