Oprah talks to guests who have become obsessed with plastic surgery: Jenny, only 28 years old, has already had 26 plastic surgeries. Cheryl is addicted to liposuction, and Brad is working three jobs to work on paying off Cheryl's plastic surgery tab. Hope Donahue, author of “Beautiful Stranger,” used her credit cards to pay for her first plastic surgery at age 22. Hey Y'all!!! For those of you who have praised me for speaking about this so publicly, and understand how difficult it was to show my "imperfect" features and insecurities on a national and international television platform....THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I did this show, and all the others to reach as many people as possible to show/explain how easy it is to lose your grip on the way you view your reflection, and the devastating effects this has on a person both physically and emotionally. For those of you who struggle to understand what/how/why I acted/reacted in such extreme ways, but leave encouraging and complimentary comments/replies....THANK YOU for being open to TRY to understand by showing Grace and empathy towards me. I learned years ago that reading a bunch of negative comments was counterproductive for me, so I don't read them that much. I have 2 gorgeous daughters who do read the comments from time to time, and it's hurtful to read comments that can be very cruel about their mother. There is a personal and emotional toll that is paid to stand up and shine a light in a very very dark place. It's now late May 2021. My focus in life is my husband, my daughters, close family/friends, and regaining my health, which I have struggled with for the last 11 years. I lost every single pound I gained after a fibromyalgia diagnosis as I continue searching and investigating alternative answers. Thanks to those kind enough to reserve unnecessary/counterproductive comments and judgements in favor of compassion and empathy 🙌🙏. ~Jenny Lee

Isn't that so wild, you're absolutely right. The changes are quite conservative when you consider the difference between before and afters nowadays. I liked the plastic surgeon in the audience who raised the question about psychiatric counselling. Any reputable plastic surgeon will stop when enough is enough, or when the proposed surgery will go bad or dangerous. Nowadays these people just surgeon-shop in other countries though where the medical ethics are different. There was even a lady recently who had ribs removed and cartoon eyes implanted into her real eyes because she wanted to look like "Barbie". You can't make this stuff up!

My mom died two days after having plastic surgery on New Year's Day five years ago. The surgeons did so much on her that she didn't walk around soon after, therefore, causing blood clots to finally have three heart attacks from it. They did so much on her in such little time. My mom's friend that worked at the plastic surgeon's told about my mom's story and a girl got up and walked out of the waiting room. Think about if that's what you want because you might live but might not survive afterward and my family and I now have to see her at the cemetery. We miss her every day.

In this period of time we didn’t understand mental health as a culture. Shows like this would routinely have people with serious issues come on and tell us about their problems. People in a normal state of mind would marvel at them. They would be asked all kinds of questions, sometimes insensitively. This one was better than others I’ve seen especially in the end.
@smileyface5908

In wasn’t insensitive at the time. It was getting that info out to people so it would get into the public consciousness so people would even know it exists to ask questions. The learning had to start somewhere and it can’t be judged by todays standards.

Worse, she has no semblance of her original self. The pics even look like two different ancestries! The initial pic looks beautifully exotic. I cannot fathom her wishing to alter that. What's ironic is-- her natural face is what's "in" (preferred) now.

@Sparkle Rose exactly its so sad, I wish people would not give such people the platform that they have, I get it most of us use social media for entertainment more than we use it for educational purposes but come on making someone that famous and that rich just for having an hourglass or abs seems a bit absurd to me. I don't follow anyone that doesn't have anything more than looks to present and that helped me realize how beautiful we are and how different we look from one another. each one has something special about them and I would never want to be a copy I rather stay original just the way I was born to be

Ethical surgeons like Dr Youn refuse to even perform certain plastic surgeries and absolutely would refuse to work on someone with a psychological addiction to surgery. He has a fantastic youtube channel. There definitely are ethical plastic surgeons out there. You just need to do your homework. I think unfortunately a lot of women opt for cheaper plastic surgeons and that's where all the problems begin.

I didn’t do the Dr. Phil show, or a lot of other shows I was asked to go on. This topic is hard to talk about, especially when you are on TV. You don’t know what they are going to ask you, and if you don’t have a great answer then it sucks that you can’t take it back. I had already gone through significant counseling and I didn’t want Dr. Phil to analyze me on TV. I love Dr. Phil, but I was scared. He didn’t need me to be there in person to tell me what was wrong. I regret not doing his show. My goal was to shine a light on what could happen and hopefully help other people get out of toxic relationships, and practice more self love. Dr. Phil knows when to be kind to the guests if it’s a sensitive topic. I didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt, and I should have.

This is why i tell my daughters everyday how beautiful they are....you have to instill that self confidence at home before they face the harsh real world!

Pro tip: DONT DO THAT! Don’t put that much emphasis on looks or else they might start getting insecure

Don't focus on your children's looks; emphasize what good people they are, how smart, responsible, and kind they are. That is what builds self worth. Looks are only temporary and have nothing to do with loving yourself.

I'm insecure about my nose and when raising my children I said bad things about myself. Fast forward many years and I heard my daughter criticizing her own looks. I was super shocked because I thought She was gorgeous. Sadly she reminded me how I used to talk about myself and she'd always known she had the same nose. If I had only known....

We care too much about what people think of us. We need to remember that when we die, we die alone. It’s only the individual the one that passes away.

@@Janellabelle I think what they mean to say is: despite people being around us, even people we love and adore, there are some things we do go through all on our own (sadly).

She was so beautiful before the surgery, the guy clearly said what he said to destroy her self esteem. He got what he wanted.

The lady knew what Oprah meant when she asked had she had any Surgery, had Oprah not probed, she would have went on pretending she hadn't had any procedures for 10 years....BUSTED😜

When my daughter was growing up, alot of people used to tell her that she was soooo pretty. I told her, "well, that's nice, but it's much more important to be a kind person."

She was gorgeous! I still find her beautiful because of how charming and sweet she is. What I understood is ..your personality is what makes you beautiful, if you want to look beautiful and be considered attractive you better have the best personality! I hope everyone realises that. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
