She doesn't need a hug, she needs to be empowered to leave. She needs to find a strong support system for her children. Unfortunately, the statistics show one of her 3 children are going to go in that direction if she doesn't get them out of that environment. I guarantee you the kids are torn between wanting to go and wanting to stay so daddy will get better. But as long as he is enabled by her staying and has no true consequences, he's going to remain that way.

Another depressing "After The Show" screen. Helena, you and the kids have to *RUN.* It's just that simple. He admitted appearing on national TV coming off a hangover. He's *still* drinking. What more proof does he have to show that he will never be sober? And Helena has zero self-esteem left. Not her fault it's gone - but she needs a therapist as well.

Two lessons I've learned: 1) you can't force change onto someone that does not want to change and 2) you can accept someone for who they are but that doesn't mean it's cruel to not want that person apart of your life. He will destroy himself and take his entire family down with him. So sad 😔

His pate divorced at 8. He went to live with his grandma who was on pills. So his mom didn't want him. His daddy didn't want him. His grandma didn't deal with him. He didn't have any friends. He raised his self. Nobody spent any time with him. The booze was his friend. That's a lonely life.

There comes a point when we have to realise that what's killing us isn't our friend but the enemy. The comfort is never really satisfied and he'll keep chasing peace only to continue to feel that void within him. This is how demons operate and steal and destroy lives. They pretend to be a friend. Alcohol isn't called "spirits" for nothing.

I've been here. A relationship with an alcoholic is so very painful. You try to make them see over and over again how much you care about them and how painful it is to watch them destroy themselves. He is still at the stage where he is speaking in uncertain terms about whether he is an alcoholic because he can find a way to blame it on you or the kids or a bad day or a bad mood. Until you and the kids leave he will never truly see that it's just him. Your support is killing him.

Jasmine Bell - That's true. He may not ever get it until his body gives out and he has no choice but to get it. That's what happened to my stepfather, but he still dabbles in it from time to time. Just like my mom, I don't think she's going anywhere. You children will estrange you if they don't want that chaotic lifestyle for themselves. I left Houston and never looked back. My middle brother is a little less than an alcoholic. My baby brother doesn't come around often. There you go; a drug addict and alcoholic can destroy a family. My mom should have been left, but she's still other him til this day. I hope she Wise's up for the children's sake.

Helena, I hope you read this. I've been there. When it was just the 2 of us, that was one thing. But after I had a child? When my son was 3, I left....found a cheap, safe place for the two of us...because I had to, for my kid's sake. This is what YOU MUST DO. For your children, if not yourself. YOU MUST THINK OF THE CHILDREN & WHAT YOU ARE EXPOSING THEM TO. It is YOUR job as their mother. It's not easy, I know. You can do it. Believe me, it's the only & right thing to do. JMHO

Mr. Miller, I hope you will read this and be blessed. Mr. Miller, there is hope for you yet still. I pray for you, that Heavenly Father will meet you where you are and heal you of the broken heart you've had for so, so long but are too afraid to look at it for what it is. The bottle has now become an idol god to you because it now controls you and your life. You can't stop drinking in your own willpower. You need a Savior who has the real power to deliver you out of alcoholism's chokehold on you.... If you want to be free, you can. It is time to get in a quiet place (just you and your Creator), lift your head to heaven and open your mouth and ask the Lord to fill your heart with His love and life. Did you know Jesus Christ came to heal the broken-hearted? He came for you, Mr. Miller, and He loves you so dearly. He gave His very life for you. Ask the Lord to strengthen you. He is faithful to never leave you or forsake you. It is time for you to surrender it all.... All the pain, fear, failures, shame, and unforgiveness toward those who let you down. God will meet you if you will cry out to Him. He wants to restore you and make you whole. You tried man's rehab. It didn't work. Now try the greatest healer there is...your Creator. Then and only then can you see yourself as the man of God Heavenly Father created you to be. I'm here too, praying with you. God bless you.

Helena is slow. As soon as I heard her say, “If he doesn’t change...” at the end, I knew she hadn’t heard a word that the judge said. What doesn’t this chick understand about her husband’s sickness?! He has to want to stop drinking and he doesn’t want to. And it’s a shame that it’s the children who suffer in the long run from being in such an unstable environment.

They are so done with each other, even if he got off the alcohol, they have hurt each other so much. There's absolutely no trust left. At that level of alcholism if he stops suddenly, he's dead, his organs will shut down. He needs medical intervention. Even just one less drink per day is a step in the right direction. He fought and lost. Maybe if he can find some value in his life he will discover enough fight within himself to get help and finally kick the drink. He's failing to deal with the past. Did you see the stress response when he mentioned his parents' divorce. That's at least part of it. That was the first thing that came to mind when queried, he didn't even have to pause.

I would be gone so fast. He is all about himself and doesn't really want help. He literally gives her nothing and is a giant leech who expects everything.

He isn't going to change. He has been away half of your relationship. What do you think is going to happen? He will stop drinking and step up? This woman clearly has low self esteem and worth. Her posture and body language said a lot. Always looking down when talking. This man has done some major damage to her and she doesn't even see it. If she was my sister I would pack her out his life for good. Your kids deserve better.

My father was an alcoholic and he destroyed our whole family. He had no shame or morals left and I hate him to this day for what he made us go through. The Shame and abuse and the terror he caused. He's been dead for 14 years and I'm glad he is. I hope he rots in hell.
