Orchids often come with a dusting of residue on their leaves, when shipped from a nursery. Fertilizers will add to that crusty looking visual, and I use 50% fresh lemon juice diluted with 50% water.... it really takes off that residue well and leaves the leaves nice and shiny. Sometimes a second application is needed, but its gentle and effective 👍🏼

I can see that your parents garden centre is a lovely place to work, and the staff who work there are so lucky to have your mum as their boss! The plants look great, and it is amazing to see the 'old' plants looking as fresh as the new delivery. A credit to the staff who obviously do a great job of looking after them all so well.

Oh, darn. I was hoping to see what plants you where taking home. I love the tour of house plants. Unfortunately, I can't grow most indoors because my fur babies will try to taste them all. But I do grow most of the plants you shared minus a few new ones outdoors. I live in zone 9b and most of my home is sheltered under big oak trees. Thank you for giving us the names of the plants. Some of mine where given as cutting without a name. Even as a season gardener it is always nice to learn something new. Every morning I can't wait to see what you have in store for us😁

I recently added a couple peperomia’s to my orchids because they are safe. You just never know if a plant that has been ignored for months by the cats will suddenly hold extreme fascination for them. My younger cat likes to pluck the flower buds off the holiday cactus if she can reach them and she recently batted a long stem off one. Thankfully didn’t try to sample it.

You have no idea how much I wish I lived closer to this garden center, or even one with as many amazing plants as this! Especially around Valentine’s Day, you see so many of those heart leaf Hoyas - I’ve never seen such a huge vine of one before! I’ve heard that when you get those small ones with just one leaf, it’s likely it won’t grow into a large vine because they cut the leaf off before the node, so it will stay just as one leaf forever. Is that true? I’ve always hesitated buying one because I was never sure!

Hi! I was lucky enough to get a single leave sweetheart hoya (Kerrii). Because it's just the leaf that spouts, it will never be a full size version. But it would be nice to get a living heart for Valentine's Day! (Hint, hint!) Maybe your parents could put some some closer to the register?
@audigutierrez6946
@audigutierrez6946 2 жыл бұрын
@@lindamikesell6390 fortunately, that's not how these work. Whether or not they sprout new leaves depends on if they have a piece of the original stem under the soil. Leaf + stem has highest chances of growing again.

I have one that is just a single leaf and has never grown larger. I'm guessing it's because it doesn't have any other leaf nodes. I've had mine for over two years though, and it is still alive and doing well. It's super cute to just having a single "heart" leaf in a tiny pot. I love it!

I will probably watch again and make a list of what I want lol. ZZ Plant is my favorite! I got mine spring 2020 and it’s thriving. Even now I have 6 shoots coming up at the same time. The most ever.

I'm zone Zone 6b/7a and planted elephant ear outside in containers for the very first time last summer, but dug them up and brought them inside to replant this coming summer. I wasn't aware they would thrive as house plants and may explore that route next season! The garden center looks FABULOUS! WOW! Great tour, thank you!

There are so so many items I see in the background that I would buy lol! Your parents do a fantastic job of organizing and keeping the store clean and stocked with useful and beautiful things. Your mom should be a consultant to other garden centers. Fun video 😊

This is a great video! Can you make another video with the plants for beginners, intermediate and advanced plant parents? I was trying to keep track but kept getting distracted with all the pretty plants! Thank you for this video in love with all the plants!!!

All you have to do for February is add red hearts to the center of the snowflakes and it would be brilliant with like glimmer paper or shiny paper hearts! ♥️

I came into the garden center this morning, just to look. I was expecting lots of people to be there, after the video this morning. Not too many people were there, which was nice. I only bought some succulents for my DIL because it is a stretch for me to keep houseplants alive, lol. The plants were really pretty, though. I think this is the supplier they should always buy from, they look so vibrant and healthy.

I have owned 50 varieties of the plants you showed. So many beautiful plants! My house used to be so full. Miss all the green, but definitely don't have the time to care for and water all those babies anymore. Hopefully one day I can build my collection back again.

The only thing I had an issue with with ZZ plants is trying to use a moisture meter to check the soil. I didn’t realize that have a bulb like root and I was stabbing through it to check moisture and I’m pretty sure that eventually led to its demise. I investigated the roots to see what happened to it and noticed all the holes in the bulb and it started to rot. Poor thing. I murdered it 😭

Thanks for this information. I am aware of the tuber root of ZZ plants and would not have thought to be caustious not to damage it when checking moisture or putting a stake in the soil.
