In my travels through the vast Spanish empire, I have been amazed at how Spaniards treat Indians, like others, even forming mestizo families and creating hospitals and universities for them. I have met indigenous and even military mayors and bishops, which means in the social peace, well-being and general happiness that we already wanted for us in the territories that with so much effort, we are taking them away.

Great video - succinct summary on an extremely broad topic! This really helped me as I’m getting into Spanish history. I’m half Filipino and obviously part Spanish. I’m either 1/8 or 1/16… not a whole whole lot but it’s enough for me to want to learn. More people should be aware of Spanish history, as most of us are linked to it…

The spanish army wasnt really defeated by the napoleonic one. They conquered spain when the king let them in to conquer portugal, but napoleon decided to take spain aswell, betraying them and breaking the deal. The napoleonic army was far superior but still spain managed to win the war thanks to guerrilla warfare and brittish supoort.

*Fun fact:* The Spanish took part in the French invasion of southern Vietnam, known as the "Cochinchina campaign", during which time came to being the old-timey Spanish schoolroom saying: *«Dos y dos son cuatro en Lima y en la Conchinchina.»* (Two and two make four in Lima and in Cochinchina). This was why the *Spanish-speaking world* once figuratively considered *Vietnam at "the end of the world"* because it was both farther than China and *exactly the opposite side of the world from Peru.* Even today, *"Cochinchina" to a Spanish-speaker* is like saying *"Timbuktu" to an English-speaker.*

Harry Truman was a voracious reader but reading doesn't tell you how to say stuff, and he was just as famous for saying stuff in weird ways. Britain itself wasnt apart of spain but due the fact that the queen of england was catholic and had married the emperor of the holy roman empire and the spanish empire, it became a habsburg monarchy until elizabeth coming into power when they turned into the house of tudor, which meant the protestant church came back into england and the catholics were forced out.

I really really like this video but there's a glaring issue with narration! I mean I think the narrator was mainly chosen because of his sound quality as being young and relatable to young audiences. I understand why that is the case. All right why are these words in English pronounced so oddly? Peninsula abdicated abrogated Okay so I don't know if the person narrating is also the person who created this video but I mean there's so many mispronunciations in English much more French Italian and Spanish! Surely you can find someone who can narrate and actually know how to pronounce these words. I'm not trying to be mean but you know this is an educational video and I'm sorry to say this but the mispronunciation sounds so ignorant. It really doesn't sell a video at all as educated. I have to say that it's more than just the narrator it's the editor who allowed this to be published like that!
