어렸을 때 아주 흥미로운 역사책을 읽었던 적이 있다. 세계의 중심이 서쪽으로 이동하고 있고 동서문명이 하나가 될 것이라는 내용이었다. 중동 > 유럽 > 미국 당시 저자는 미래를 다음과 같이 예측했다. 다음은 아시아, 그다음은 중동이 될 것이고 이렇게 중심이 한바퀴 돌아 하나의 문명이 될 것이라고. 그는 그 중심이 될 국가를 중국과 사우디아라비아를 꼽았는데, 이 국가들의 폐쇄성 때문에 서구화 된 주변국들이 많은 반사이익을 얻을 것이라고 까지 말했다. 본인은 자녀들에게 중국어와 아랍어를 가르치고 있다고도 말했다. 어렸을 때 이 책을 읽고 바보같은 판타지 소설이라고 치부했었다. 아쉽게도 저자는 BTS를 보지 못하고 세상을 떠났다.

Japan is a mix of many different subgroups and culture and were viewed as backward barbarians by Korean and Chinese most of its history while Korea and China were pure.
