John Williams is one of the greatest composers in the world. When George Lucas worked on the original SW Trilogy, he needed a composer who could provide him with that classical score. Thanks to George’s friend, Steven Spielberg he told him “The guy you gotta to is John Williams. He did “Jaws”, they loved him. You gotta talk to him.“And so he did.

Let me just say, to whomever edited this footage, thank you very much for editing out that part in the beginning where the show presented John William's music for the Star Wars franchise. All of us who clicked on this video have probably heard his themes a million times; we are more interested in hearing the Maestro (as you call him) talk about his craft. I mean, just look at his face as the reporter is giving the obligatory introduction describing all of his famous works. He's probably thinking "Yeah, yeah, yeah...that's why I don't like giving interviews, because I have to sit through this same crap time after time after time after time. EDIT: That was one quirk I hadn't heard about before; his habit of calling his acquaintances baby.
@GundamFan897 жыл бұрын
The reason I edited the PBS collage of his themes was more out of fear the video would be get a DMCA and taken down. But, yeah the little intro of music we've heard a million times is a bit much.

Star Trek's first movie had music by Jerry Goldsmith, man. One of the greatest film scores ever written, and the main theme is BETTER than the Star Wars theme. The Ilia theme is as beautiful as any love theme Williams ever wrote, and the Klingon Battle music is among the greatest musical sci-fi action sequences ever, right up there with Williams' asteroid field and Hoth battle music. Williams is a living legend, but Star Trek did just fine without him.

I've been listening to TFA nonstop for 3 weeks, and it's absolutely brilliant. Not only do you have some powerful new strength themes like the March of the resistance and the incredibly dark and bold Kylo Ren theme, you also have the masterpiece that is Reys theme which John William even plays on top of the force theme at one point and it goes perfectly!

A somewhat interesting video, but mostly it's just a mutual admiration society where everyone is falling over themselves to pay praise to others. There's nothing wrong with that per se, they are all praiseworthy people for sure, but there really wasn't a whole lot to be learned here.
@May04bwu7 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah kind of. I understand their reasons though. JJ is huge fan of Star Wars and Williams' work. And Williams wants to be polite and probably also think JJ is a nice person and is good at what he does.
