What he says about love stories then vs. now is so true. Just because the old Production Code is gone, and we CAN show sex scenes in love stories, doesn’t mean we HAVE to. Many modern filmmakers do not realize this. Indeed, the passion is more than efficiently conveyed through this stunning music.

@murtazarizvi3686 жыл бұрын
'Han Solo and the Princess' wasnt meant to be a prominent love theme because it was generic love between han and liea and not related to the galaxy's on going war. but emphasis was given to 'across the stars' because of how the love between anakin and padme was one of the reason the republic fell aka vader's rise and palpatine's manipulation

The love between Anakin and Padme drives the plot, whereas with Han Solo and Leia it's something you can ignore.

+sayenshin theres a lot of hidden gems in the soundtrack. First time seeing the movie, i completely agree with you. First time listening to the soundtrack, I completely agree with you. But Iv seen the movie three times now, and a lot of the soundtrack has grown on me. Everyone talks about rey's theme, but theres so much more on the soundtrack than just that. the falcon chase music is genius, march of the resistance is great. The star killer is a good orchestral song, and ;the raid on the jakku villiage; is one of my favorites. Listen to the soundtrack a few times through, and i guarantee you it will grow on you and you will find things you can't hear/didn't notice while watching the film. Unfortunately, soundtrack is almost unnoticeable in many parts.but as far as i'm concerned, the film did not do justice to the great music that is on the force awakens soundtrack. It's no duel of fates, but it's definitely another great star wars score.
@ILQA18 жыл бұрын
+sayenshin You serious? TFA soundtrack is amazing. It's not a pop album, it's an orchestral score that takes a little concentration to fully understand and digest. SPOILERS: The entire ending of the film (Rey flying to the island, climbing the steps and confronting Luke) is carried solely by the music, and brilliantly so. Farewell and the Trip + Jedi Steps on the soundtrack, go listen to it if you haven't already.
@sayenshin8 жыл бұрын
Ilkka Pättikangas Absolutely, there're gems in the soundtrack. But I'm still disappointed because there's no grandeur scene in the movie where the music steals the show. In each Star Wars movie, there's always a scene where it does that, though I might actually be inclined to think the Luke scene was it. However, it never reaches what Lucas succeeded in doing. But that's just my personal opinion.
@ILQA18 жыл бұрын
Fair enough, I see your point :) I hope John Williams scores the next Episodes as well and we get a lot more of Rey's Theme and maybe also the new epic battle music ala Duel of the Fates or Battle of the Heroes
@LemonlyGamer8 жыл бұрын
+sayenshin TFA is certainly missing some of the operatic qualities of earlier films - it wouldn't work as a "silent film" - but there are moments where the music is intended to be front and center. The entire opening five minutes is carried largely by the score; Rey's voyage through the desert; the Jedi Steps, all music. The script itself actually denotes moments where "MUSIC BUILDS" or something to that effect, which 99% of other movies do not.

It’s kinda gratifying for me (as a clarinetist) to hear how raw they sound miked so closely. The sound needs space to develop and “mature,” if that makes sense. It’s fascinating to hear the clarinets playing those quick runs in Chase Through Coruscant so vividly; they’re mixed so far down in the final that all one can hear is the piccolos.
@thegoodgeneral2 жыл бұрын
Shawn Murphy has talked about Williams’s mic mix preferences in the past, how it’s primarily decca tree and wide mics most of the time-with spot/section mics only occasionally, usually in quieter sections or for decorative parts like harp/glock etc.
