Full Range Throttle Only Range Test After TWO YEARS! Ariel Rider X Class… NOT GOOD

Let’s test the max range without pedal assist after 2 years of regular use. This Ariel Rider X Class 48V has a little over 4000 miles, I average about 20 miles per ride. That’s roughly 200 charging cycles over since i bought the bike in 2020. This kind of battery degradation is completely normal according to the manufacturer, the battery can be rebuilt at a pretty hefty cost. Ariel Rider has been helpful in trying to get the battery to operate as it did previously, but ultimately determined that’s just how it goes with electric bikes.

Time for a new battery. Maybe get a UPP 52v triangle battery for it.

This was the Original x class. I wonder if the newest x class (52V 20ah battery 2000W peak motor) has a similar issue.

Always thankful for people who do these range tests, I would hate to end up 9 miles from home with a dead battery! Curious if it's just a bad battery? Thanks for sharing your experience.

Not a bad battery, worked great for two years. Ariel Rider’s techs said that’s just what happens over time.

How long would you think the battery would last? The real question is how many miles did you put on the bike and what was the state of charge when stored?

when you normally ride do you use throttle only? I am thinking if you constantly have a load on battery - more load then when using pedal assist, your battery will degrade faster.

My thing is, as long as the bike is good!! When time comes, purchase a new battery and enjoy 😉 If I could afford it, I would purchase two and have both of them in sync mod conjointly on my bike. That way, I can go further in great confidence.

That's weird...I have the 52v and have over 6000 miles and get around 30 miles per charge. Maybe you just got a bad batch or perhaps they use a different manufacturer for the 52v

It was giving me 25 miles per charge until this year, Ariel Rider says this is normal and to be expected after a few years.

If you were near New Jersey I'd recommend dropping by Powerful Lithium & let Vee take a look at it. Bet he could fix it. He builds them using molicels & upgrades all the moped style ebikes in his area. Check out his channel Powerful Lithium, he rocks!

Very good content Noob, thanks for sharing. Very surprising as well. It would seem the degradation is at least 50% or more. I would expect that the batteries should be degraded to that level after more like 800 - 1000 cycles, not 200. I first thought you must have left the battery in the sun or let it get down to close to 0 many times but I actually watched the whole video. Considering the replacement cost, this gives undecided people plenty to think about.

You're still talking about one bike one battery, one user. So still could be the way you used the battery and could also be a bad battery regardless of how it was used by you. So in essence we're taking about just you. That doesn't necessarily reflect all others. You can't form a trend line with a single data point, that's statistics 101.

probably a bad battery. I rode my x-class 20 miles in the Texsa heat and got home with a full battery(5 bars). I was using pedal assist but considering it was over 90F and my return trip(10 miles) had some hills I impressed with the battery.
