Hey T, there re a number of relaxers that do the conditioner after you rinse but before you shampoo. I havent had a relaxer in 15 years, back in the day, Motions was my creamy crack of choice and they had the conditioner before you shampoo.

Maaaaan! I went natural in 2011! My hair wasn’t growing! It kept getting them balls on the ends and they would just shed every where! I was miserable! It was NOT glamorous or enlightening!!!! My depression got worse and I was just losing myself. I kept at it and I wanted so badly to be able to maintain my hair in its natural state. I finally gave in 2 wks ago after nearly having a nervous breakdown and I bought a Just 4 Me. I didn’t want to damage my hair since it’s been so long and I couldn’t go to the salon. It came out surprisingly beautiful and I just feel so much better!!! One thing that being natural has taught me, is each individual person, is there own kind of beautiful and being natural isn’t for everyone. I will no longer allow people to make me feel bad for embracing what makes me feel better about MYSELF!

I really loved getting relaxers. It was literally the only thing that grew my hair out. I know it sounds crazy but I’m so serious. I’ve been natural for about 8 months now and my hair isn’t getting NO WHERE. so I put braids in it and told myself if I don’t get any growth I’m just going to go back to my usual method of relaxing my hair and getting it to grow. And plus the thick hair is just toooo much to deal with its driving me CRAZYYYY

Sounds like during your 8 month journey you were having length retention issues, wether it be lack of trims, in-adequate moisture or mishandling of the hair, diet, etc. Relaxers are fine but even with one proper hair care is still needed. Hopefully you visit your stylist for maintenance.

@@ziolp I don’t have a stylist. Every time I go natural no matter what I do I have difficulty growing it out. I don’t put a lot of stuff in my hair mostly just oil and I’ll do a treatment once every two or three months. My hair is really weird though. I’ll relax it and do the same things I do when natural and it will grow like crazy. I mean like 5 inches of new growth in like two months. 🥴 but when I’m natural and doing the same routine my hair grows like a moving slug. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I’m just going to go back to relaxed hair I get better results with my hair that way

You don't have to burn. Since I started relaxing myself in 2020 I have not had one single burn. Not even a tingle. I take BC powder before starting and I do my hair in 2 parts (relax half first and the other half later) so I have plenty of time to work through it. My hair is MUCH MUCH thicker than Tierras though. When you are going through difficult times in your life, don't isolate yourself. There are people who have been through what you might be facing right now and they overcame it. Don't push people away, surround yourself with people who are spiritually mature and get the help that you need. Isolation when you are in pain and don't know if there's a way out is dangerous and that's why we have suicide cases. Listen, there's nothing that you can be facing that God is not able to solve for with God nothing is impossible. Hold on. Jesus loves you.

Don’t listen to them people. Black women are getting cancer because of our diets, not eating high potassium foods specifically, drinking alcohol and smoking weed and cigarettes like everyone else. Really? Getting breast cancer from exposing exposing yourself to something that sits on your hair for 10 mins every few months?! That’s just their way of preventing us from adapting and looking better than them in their natural hair texture and at the same time looking good in our own natural hair…it’s intimidating
@Khapresha
@Khapresha 2 жыл бұрын
@@carloshasabighead I doubt the research is an intimidation thing, no matter if it’s 10 minutes or not it’s really bad toxins/chemicals that seep into your body through skin and hair follicles. It literally can burn you hence why its so toxic

In the past, I would do my own relaxer only when my hair was short. But for the last 5-6 years, I think I went to a stylist maybe 3-4 times, and not at all for the last 3. It’s simple. And yes, if you have long hair (mine is mid back) twisting it first makes it easier. Ironically, I tried it before I saw Hairlicious’ video. It’s much faster. Also, getting a relaxer where you don’t have to mix the products is easier. Even when I do a touch up, I need more than a tub. My hair grows fast. And it’s thicker in consistency, so I find it easier to apply. And get your towel, shampoo, etc. all that stuff ready ahead of time. 😉 You can do it. As I live in Western Canada, we don’t have lots of Black hair salons, so prices, even for relaxers, are quite pricey in most places. I can do it for $10 at home! And as I have to do it often, going to the salon all the time isn’t an option. If your hair is long, you can ask someone to help you out as sometimes it’s hard in the back, especially the first few times as you’re not used to do it and not as fast. Good luck.

*Use A+D ointment as your scalp protector. I repeat, use A+D ointment as your scalp protector.* When I say nothing is penetrating that ointment. You can literally scratch while applying the relaxer and not get burned 🤣🤣🤣.

Oh I got some of this. I’ll try it next time I relax. I keep my relaxer super long even though I have scalp issues as my hair is corse and you rarely find extra strength in the stores. Thanks for the tip.

I applaud you for even trying to go natural! I personally get overwhelmed with all the time ppl seem to spend on their hair; I don’t have that kind of time. Especially I work in tv & film…lately daily, sometimes 16-hour days, so no thank you. I relax and color my 4C hair and it’s mid-back. Love me some white crack!

I also learned when I was transitioning my hair from perm to natural. I realized that I shouldn't have never touched up my hair so soon. I should have kept it hot oil treated, trimmed my ends, and conditioned it for weeks at a time; and pressed the new growth as it was coming in, then touched it up and used all the products that helps the hair grow. Times have changed and natural herbs and products are a game changer.

Oooo weeee Lil Miss Tierra you made my day. I haven't had a perm in decades but I don't have the length that I should because I do not take care of it. I wear wigs and I do not shampoo and condition like I should because of arthritis in my shoulders. That is also why I didn't get into the natural hairstyles. But the last time I was perming I was also coloring and it was too much. But now I am pretty much grey all over and I would love to have the Mazani look on my gray without dealing with 4C hair. Your hair looked good after you cut and styled are you a professional stylist. I couldn't do all that what you did. But even if I have to go to a stylist I think I'm trying Mazani Butter. Thanks Tierraj

Just wear a straight wig when u get bored. Im also natural. I made a mistake years ago and relaxed my hair and it fell out because I didnt take care of it. I had to cut off everything and started my natural journey again. When I want a break from my natural hair, I wear sew ins and wigs.

@@onison79 The key is "taking care of it." Natural hair is a lot of work and requires a lot of time and patience. Prior to being natural, I relaxed my hair for over fourteen years. Just like my natural hair, it was healthy and grew as long as I was under minimum stress and properly caring for my hair.

@@hairhealthfashion9737 dont be discouraged by other peoples problems with THEIR hair. It's okay if you accidentally damage your hair, you can always try again later when you know more about your hair. The problem is not relaxers or heat or dye, it's just that these in the wrong hands can do damage, and not to parrot myself, but that is okay cut it off try again later or put more dye. Experiment and do lots with your hair, what are they going to do, cry about it?

Hey T! A good way to see the back of your head instead using 2 mirrors. Use a smart tv, prop your phone/iPad on a ring light/trip pod, then turn on screen mirroring. You’ll be able to zoom in and out and at your convince. If you want to use your filming camera for KZfaq then just do the same procedure using an HDMI CORD instead of screen mirroring.

The cut looks professionally done, like you went in and got it cut. The finished product looks like a cut I used to rock back in middle school when I was relaxed. I used to look getting my hair bone straight and then rocking a bumbed bang. But the relaxers were never for me because the humidity got me as soon as I went outside, even with a fresh relaxer. Went natural in 2009 and big chopped in 2010.
I CHOPPED MY HAIR OFF! Pixie Cut, Relax & Style!
