I love how this season celebrated Daniel being the hero who will fight for everyone and how it took time reminding us of that. Like the ex bullies bragging about his feats, all the way up to Daniel once again being the one to defeat the final boss. And tying in karate kid 3 for full circle in that final fight. Masterful !

I thought the finale was fantastic for so many reasons. For one, it was cool to see literally all 3 movie bullies teaming up to fight Silver's allies while on Danny' s side, and every fight was awesome. Chozen vs. Silver was particularly brutal which I didn't expect, and I was legitimately scared for Johnny until of course the baby picture came out and he just went beast mode, then got rescued by Barnes which was great. And It's nice Robby and Miguel and Tory and Sam have resolved their rivalries. Overall I was definitely hoping to see more of Kreese but I loved his storyline despite how short it was. I was kinda hoping he'd be around to see the downfall of Silver and maybe even fight/kill him though I doubt he'd actually kill him since this show has never crossed that line.

Nearly everything you said is true and mostly why i love this season as a whole, 1 thing I criticize though, is I felt like mike didn't have enough screen time, he was in 1 episode, then in episode 10 went off to fight silver and gets knocked out immediately, and only comes back at the last moment. besides that there is one scene after that, and it isn't even about him.

One thing that Cobra Kai does well is making us care about both the original cast from the movies and the new cast (the next generation). When continuations/reboots occur, you typically get new characters but very really care about them, but not Cobra Kai. Another thing is that despite the large cast of characters, Cobra Kai managed to find balance in giving everyone a decent amount of screentime to develop. Characters like Hawk and Demetri take a backseat this season, but it's ultimately because their stories are practically completed in a way, Hawk and Demetri have conquered their demons, unless greater demons emerge in the future. Sam and Tory have had some shakey moments on both sides from Season 2 - 4 in writing. However, Season 5 managed to bring the best aspects of both characters, I may not be a big fan of Samantha LaRusso, but it was satisfying to see the pay off for her character as well as Tory. Miguel and Robby are my favorite characters, and seeing Johnny, Miguel, and Robby embrace each other over getting a new addition to the family almost brought a tear to my eye. It was especially satisfying seeing Robby control his emotions on the stairs this time. Keep in mind, this is after Robby joined Cobra Kai and had to unlearn the dark lessons of his Sensei's from his head, which makes his restraint even more satisfying. I could go on and on about every single character but this comment is already so long lol.

I'm now wondering if other writers ignore this show because it makes them look bad. This show is everything they need to achieve (on one third the normal budget), but it's ingredients are things that many writers have ideological opposition to. POC characters defined by actions and not skin colour? Check. Badass karate fights that aren't CGI/totally one sided? Check. But most importantly, this show loves its own lore, loves its own past, and loves its own fans. This is the direct opposite of the modern reboot playbook which openly despises its own property and fans.

It was a great season finale because it was a way for Daniel to put down his demons from the past when he took down Terry using the Quicksilver method while using Miyagi-Do technique. Chozen’s development and growth was amazing, Johnny’s fatherly instincts showed even more so, Miguel and Robbie were able to bury the hatchet after letting out their anger in that match; and San was able to finally see what Tory was going through after hearing the truth about the Referee bribery and Devon found a new female role model in Tory

This season was just beautiful! It's perfection! As a childhood fan of the original movie trilogy, there was something just beyond awesome about Daniel's same-age nemeses from each of the three movies teaming up to invade Silver's home to take him down, and facing the fight of their lives once they get there! I also absolutely love the reveal that Amanda is the cousin of Jessica from Karate Kid III, as well as the barfight with their old high school foes that Sam has to intervene in. The final series of battles left the school fight at the end of Season 2 (which was crazy epic) in the dust. The final fight between Daniel and Terry Silver was another thing of beauty, especially Daniel's using Terry's "Quicksilver Method" against him and the symbolism of Silver picking up a trophy to use as a weapon, only to lose the fight as he's just lost his reputation and the loyalty of his students. This is the one series that gives me any hope that there are still good writers in Hollywood, as all the other shows and movies I've watched in the past several years had terrible writing and hit-or-miss acting, though the effects and visuals have been better than ever. Hopefully, you're right and the studios will draw inspiration from Cobra Kai to start recapturing some of the magic that used to make films so epic.

His season was a little unexpected. They (intentionally?) skipped his trial altogether. But, I have to think that Kreese feels like a victim, and that is his overwhelming motivation. He is in survival mode just like in Vietman.

It's funny. I felt Kreese did change. His feelings about Johnny were real. His therapist told him it's not to late to change. He did. He also knew he was set up. He wasn't going to accept prison. He escaped having fought his demons and was finally free. He is redeemed at the end. A terrific way to end season 5. Kreese is a better man. Amazing the peace he feels now.

Kreese is a survivor! They have touched on that theme the whole series. I felt they underplayed him a bit, but it was subtle and actually works for his character. I am not truly convinced he is nearly the monster he was painted as (Silver is the ultimate psychopathic archetype). Kreese has done some morally reprehensible things, but it is not like he has become a "Colonel Kurtz" type. PTSD will wreck you! And if the writers have done anything truly excellent, it is showing how PTSD (joined with lack of forgiving the past) can stop you from growing as human. I think he changed in subtle ways, and let us not forget that he actually was incorrectly sent to prison, for Silver's crime.

The thing I like most is that it skips all the bullshit you would see in modern shows. No character gender identification story arc, no romance taking up all the screen time, no typical Netflix ideals being plugged needlessly into scenes, and yet they still keep representation in there but don’t make it the main focus of everything. Moon, Piper, they were introduced but they’re not at the forefront of everything. I love that Johnny is so anti-SJW (or sjw ignorant) but it’s funny, not offensive. It’s like the show is telling you we can all enjoy it and we can all live together without conflict. Cobra Kai really is the definition of great storytelling and how to continue an old series.

Is anyone else disappointed in how underused the character of Mike Barnes was? For me he was one of the best characters from the original trilogy. He's a great actor and very convincing martial artist who always looked like he could hold his own in a real fight. After the furniture store episode I was just waiting for him to show back up, then when he finally did, he gets sucker punched out cold. Then when Johnny is getting his ass kicked, I was like any minute now the karate bad boy is going to clean house to save the day, only for Johnny to turn super saiyan and practically do it himself. I just hope we see more of Barnes in the next season and actually see him show off his karate!

Yes i am disappointed too. But i had a gutfeeling it would be like that. I wrote it here on YT many times, some agreed, others not. The reason was Sean Kanans work on The Bolt And The Beautiful soap opera. Its a daily show and he must be on set almost all the time. So he simply didnt have much time to film Cobra Kai. Essay ahead, sorry. Season 5 was great but I feel how it has ended has not left me feeling as excited for Season 6. Please don't misunderstand me, there were some REALLY great moments from Season 5 that I loved. Chozen was ON FIRE!!!! For me, the reason I enjoyed the show so much, has been the constant Conflict/Resolution aspect from the Characters and situations. That's what kept me hungry for each following season. Each season finale so far, ended by giving you a taste of what conflicts/fights/resolutions were going to be confronted in the following season. The show has been excellent at doing this EACH time... except for this Season 5 finale. The problem for me, as a massive fan of the show is that, Season 5 just went and pretty much resolved ALMOST EVERY SINGLE conflict that made the show a must watch. I can't help but feel deflated by the recent ending. We've all yearned for the conflict resolution between Robbie and Miguel to happen but I wanted this to happen at the Final 1 or 2 Episodes of the Entire Series, NOT when there are a potential TWO more seasons to go!!! Even though Kenny/Robbie still has yet to reach its FINAL resolution, however the VENOM in that conflict has now been taken out with that ending. Exactly the same for Sam/Tory too. Without the venom in these conflicts, it's nowhere near as exciting. Maybe its just my opinion. There's still the Johnny/Kreese situation that still has heat to it, but that's about it! The Ending of Season 5 hasn't even hinted at what we have to look forward to in the next instalment. Sure we have a massive world tournament but I'm just left wondering "but how.....?" "But... why?" rather than "Here is a Solid Storyline that is going to go ahead and we will defo see sparks fly!" Nothing like that at all at the end of this season. A few missed opportunities with this season too.. 1. Kreese meets Dutch/or another ex Cobra Kai student gone bad, whilst in Prison?? That would have been an awesome reunion whichever way it might have gone, would have been great for Kreese character expansion/redemption arc... 2. Great Kreese breaks out of Prison! But where was the scene of him seeking out Kim Da-Eun and having a much anticipated Reunion and maybe a quick dialogue about what they plan to do now with Cobra Kai?? Or maybe showing up at Tory's house "Still want a Sensei?" But we got NOTHING! You probably have a few of your own ideas too.. I now have no Idea who is gonna fight who next season. Are Cobra Kai even gonna be allowed anywhere near Prestigious World Karate Tournament we've only just NOW been made aware of? It seems unlikely to me, Owner gets taken to Prison, the Previous owner Assaulted People to escape a Prison. It seem highly doubtful they would be allowed entry now, surely? What exactly am supposed to get super psyched for next season, Robbie and Miguel acting like brothers and double dating together!!? Woo hoo, I'm well excited for that! Or maybe 3 episodes of Sam and Tory braiding each other's hair now they don't Hate each other and want to fight to the death! How nailbitingly exciting! ...........NOT With just a few tweeks, this Season 5 Could and Probably SHOULD have been the end of the ENTIRE Show itself tbh. I fail to see what there is now to look forward to. Everyone is friends now?

Another great breakdown and analysis! I thought this was the best season so far and enjoyed every minute of it. I could sing the praises of the writers and actors all day, and, in fact, I wasn't aware that there would be another season, so I was viewing everything with the lens of closure and was very happy to see a beautiful ending for some many legacy characters, as well as for the new ones. One question that I have, related to continuity: Kreese was able to see through Chozen's story because he toasted with Karaii instead of Kampai, the former indicating that he was from Okinawa. But in Karate Kid, Mr. Miyagi himself says Kampai when he's celebrating the "anniversary." I guess that could be explained by the fact that he spent some time in Japan during World War II, and perhaps acquired that custom, but I noticed that discrepancy immediately and wondered if anyone else did. By the way, when Robyn Lively showed up at the doorstep I didn't recognize her at first but looked up the IMDB page for that episode to verify that it was her. (We then later got some flashbacks and explanation that rendered that IMDB check unnecessary.) And, hey, we even got to see Elizabeth Anne-Rooney. You have to wonder if Jessica ended up marrying the headless rock climber or if he fathered her two kids. I love that this show went above and beyond in making the third movie, which was panned by critics and fans alike when it was released, not only relevant, but critical in resolving the conflicts and paying off the setups established by the other characters. It was all brought together beautifully. Can't wait for more of your breakdowns, Watch Party!

My thoughts on season 5 is (to paraphrase a famous story) it was the best of seasons. It was the worst of seasons. While on the front lines it did deliver with action, drama, suspense, and even a few comical moments, it was too busy, there were way to many storylines to develop them all to come to fruition effectively. I said the same thing of season 3 but this time it kind of hit a new gear much like Johnny in his last fight. I was disappointed in how the Miquel and his dad panned out even though Johnny and Robby bonding on the trip was refreshing. Then Miguel comes back and him and Sam end up doing a whole Ross and Rachel “on a break” which kind of sucked. Sam’s growth through the season was nice though. Also I liked how Miguel and Robby made amends. While unorthodox in the real world their bonding fight was awesome and excellent in execution. My biggest disappointments of season were that the relationship of Devon and Tory was rushed and really did not fit together well. The new Sensei Kim was not developed well and comes off as 1 diminional and almost cartoonish as a villain. I feel the show could have utilized Mike Barnes better and not had him just as a side character in 2 or 2 and a half episodes. I hope they are setting him up for a more prominent role in season 6 and the valiant warrior speech from Silver to Chozen was a stroke of genius but Chozen deserved a better end of his fight with silver. I have binged all of the show many times since I discovered it at end of Season 2 on KZfaq and for me something great about the show is how the actors especially the younger ones have grown and developed and created chemistry with one another. Another character that kind of fell flat with me was Kenny. I feel they could have done something a little more or different to make him better and not let him retreat back into being just a hot headed bully with a score to settle

I love Kenny interaction in Season 5 some people though he was a rush character and he had time to grow, thanks to Robby not being in Cobra Kai he was no longer a follower to anyone. Than there was trouble with Anthony so hopefully in this next season Robby could help them to become friends and for some very funny scenario they ask Robby for girl advice and he be in a awkward/interested stage as a mentor, heck I might be surprise Kenny and Anthony were talking about who Robby was mostly into Tory or Sam.

She was reduced to being Tory's flunky, bascially a younger version of her, even down to having a similar tragic home life. I bet the writers didn't really know what to do with her and decided to just turn her into another Tory.

I agree the Mexico arc was totally pointless. The only way it was not a total filler is if Miguel's father comes back at some point later. However if it ends there then it was a complete waste of time. But I dont think Kim Da-Eun was a waste. She was a GREAT addition to the story, excellent character and excellent portrayal by the actress. It was very enjoyable to see her on the screen. I am looking forward to seeing more of her in the next season.

Kresse is a deadly man who's constantly at war. Silver is a sick and cleaver mastermind (nasty combination) who thinks it's all a game and he was thinking a lot more global than Kreese and he had some mercs as senseis. As for Tory, it did not shock me she was still loyal to Kreese. He was the closest thing to a father she ever had who did a lot for her. Unlike most people, I never saw Tory as a bad person, just someone who was hardened by events in her life (her mother being gravely ill, her aunt trying to leach off them...etc.). Kim Da-Eun is probably going to the next big threat IMO next season, assuming the actress returns. She might take over Cobra Kai dojo since Kreese is in no position to take it over due to his fugitive status and Silver will probably never be trust to teach at the YMCA let alone own and operate another dojo after what he did in the 1980s and now, so he won't be back running it. Kim Da-Eun is the only logical choice to inherit Cobra Kai.

I agree with most of this. Tory's interaction with Kreese seemed realistic to me. I'm surprised that she didn't go to Stingray directly. She could have told Robby what was going on too! I'm not sure what happens to the Cobra Kai dojo. Does Kim have any actual ownership? And, do they have any students left? They will probably be forced to shut down during the investigation. Also, does Barnes have a legal stake in the Cobra Kai franchise? What if Kreese gets pardoned?

I really don't see how people don't see that this is the worst season finale out of all the seasons. If this was a series finale fine but what exactly am I supposed to look forward to in another season? Silver and Cobra kai are dismantled. Crease escapes from prison so who exactly are the villains now? It's not like he can just go back and reopen Cobra Kai now that he's a fugitive. If this was the route they were going they should have called it a series finale because there is absolutely nothing to draw me into another season.

I like that Daniel finally did what half the Cobra Kai fandom wanted him to do for years. Stand down and stop worrying about Cobra Kai. And everyone from Johnny to his daughter to Amanda had to push him to get back in the fight. My biggest complaint is the the child antagonist which is Payne….. the kid is like 15 years old acting tough challenging Keene, calling him out, like bro call your parents to pick you up… and the kids pushing each other at the water park, aren’t they like seniors? They should have gave character growth to kyler and transformed him to a real threat.. they started it way back when John krease said they need “natural athletes” and got kyler, som much potential, could have transformed him into a beast. But no, we got the 15 year old kid I just couldn’t take serious. Loved hawk and Robby as bad guys.

My only gripe with this season was Carmen’s pregnancy because it is making the show feel almost completely different; less like Cobra Kai and more like Fuller House 🤨. As Kreese put it, this is a karate dojo not a knitting class! This gives me cause for concern that the show’s legacy may be tarnished by a lackluster conclusion, similar to what befell Game of Thrones and other series. It seems contradictory to the show’s overtones and principles to make it seem like the key to Johnny’s redemption and “making things right” is knocking up another girlfriend. There are a ton of other issues, such as Johnny’s drinking problem, finances, juggling reconciliation with Robby and Carmen’s desperation for a “second chance at love”. I am not sure where the writers are going with this but despite my skepticism, I still have faith in them and intend to see how it all plays out.

I agree on one thing. That Miguel's trip to Mexico to find his biological dad was rushed, that last only 2 episodes and should've been 3 episodes. It was strange that Miguel never said that he is the son. However, there was a bond between the two seeming as closer to family and the father treated Miguel as extended family. I'm not sure if its being saved for season 6, but I doubt it. The whole Sam and Miguel breakup was more in different light. I see it as mutual breakup. It's like they need to take a break, need some breathing room to focus on getting their own personal lives back on track. Miguel was more mature, he was more understanding instead being demanding and being desperate to hold on to the one he loves, he just let go, but deep down inside he was heartbroken with tears once he walked away and purposely dropped the pendant on the ground. When Robby was having a friendly conversation with Sam, Miguel did not get in the way or acted jealous, while Hawk told that "Robby is moving in on your girl." The dojo fight scene was badass. That was shades of Bruce Lee's The Chinese Connection while there was dojo war between the Jingwoo school and Japanese Martial Arts school. That movie is a classic and I recommend people to watch that movie.

Something about how good Cobra Kai Dojo is in manipulating kids. Since many ppl still are mad at Tory, Robby and Kenny, check this out. - Miguel Diaz fell for CK manipulations in S1 in the end, Johnny* was the reason - Tory Nichols fell for CK manipulations in S2 and 3, she became evil, Kreese was the reason - Robby Keene fell for CK manipulations in S2 and 3, he became evil, Kreese was the reason - Kenny Payne fell for CK manipulations in S4 and 5, he became evil, Silver was the reason - Sam LaRusso never fell for CK manipulations, since she never was in CK. - Demetri never fell for CK manipiulations, since he never was in CK (Kreese kicked him on day 1) * Johnny learned later in S2 he has to change his training methods. He didnt realize in S1 his teachings with no mercy were too much like Kreese back in the day. He changed it positive. His version of Cobra Kai Karate, which changed into Eagle Fang, is Cobra Kai Karate with mercy and alway fight fair. Miguel, Tory, Robby and Kenny, they all fell for the CK manipulations at some point. Sure Sam and Demetri never did, but they never were in CK.

I think that all the characters you felt weren't well-realized in this season are going to return for the sixth season, which will probably be the final season. Miguel's father and Kim Da-Eun are definitely coming back. I think we'll also see more of Mike Barnes. It would be nice if they can find a way to keep Chozen around, but I don't see a good character motivation for that (so far). And I think that this season also set-up a redemption arc for Kreese...you can see some softening around the edges of his character, and at this point, we understand a lot of the trauma that led to his brutal nature.

I agree with what you said about this show in terms of its consistency. Every season has been amazing. That IS rare. I also agreed with using Kim wrong. I feel she has no groundedness to her character. I sorta disagree with how shes like Kreese though. Maybe 75% like Kreese but at least you'd get some groundedness with him. With her, its like every line of dialog was straight of out a serious Kung Fu movie like Crouching Tiger. The lines were good...just not for this show lol. Chozen and Miyagi would kind of talk like that also, but that was usually when they taught lessons or where having deep conversations. But at least with them you'd see some kind of groundedness. Maybe tone down the seriousness and brooding with her and make her slightly more grounded and she wouldve been better. But thats not even my biggest nitpick. Its her senseis. They were just...there...taking up space. I mean, they went through the trouble of giving one dude an eye patch and spikey hair making him look straight outta Bleach or some other anime, sticking out like a sore thumb, but give him no dialog? Him and 2 others (to a way lesser extent) stood out. The rest, I swear everytime they showed up there was always a different guy in that bunch. They shouldve just had Patches and maybe Blondie and the dude who was sparring with Kenny and Kyler. Thats all that was needed. Patches shouldve been the lieutenant to Kims Captain and Silvers General.

I thought they should have done more with Miguel's dad. It seemed like a wasted storyline to have it end so easily. Would have been great if Miguel told him he was his son and then tried to leave. Then this guy came back into their lives to cause trouble. Would have been great to see Johnny and Miguel deal with this dangerous drug dealer guy in the picture. Would have been a good break too from the dojo rivalry. This whole season just felt so repetitive. LaRusso still obsessed with bringing down Cobra Kai and the same old story continues...

@@juliomiranda7013 although the facts suggest that Hector is a criminal, we never saw him doing any illegal deal. When he asked Miguel to give him his cell phone, he saw a picture of Miguel with Carmen, so he probably knows he is his son (or maybe that's what they wanted us to believe). He seems to care about Miguel but didn't know how to say it. The tone of his words "caudate mucho cabronctio" says a lot. I don't think he is interested in making any trouble for Carmen, if he appears again it will be to try to have a relationship with Miguel. Daniel trying to bring Cobra Kai down is more than just than just a rivalry, it is a crusade to prevent Kreese and Silver to keep training thugs that would to other kids the same things Kreese's and Silver's students did to Daniel.

Most of us never saw a Chozen team up at that point. I think during the world championship, Miguel's father will possibly be there with one his fighters and he'll recognize Miguel. Great as always WP! There is so much but only one thing. Tory and Kreese were once again called "grandpa" and "granddaughter", i mean after the landlord in Season 3. Of course it can all be a joke, but i gonna share my thought here again. I posted it already on other of your clips in the past, but what s your (and of course all other readers) about this: Tory could indeed be his granddaughter. Remember Kreese s girlfriend Betsy (like Tory ends with an Y) died in a car crash. Maybe she was pregnant from Kreese, but never told him since he had to go to Vietnam. She was pregnant with twin sisters, Tory s mother and aunt. Those two babies were saved and cut out of the belly from her dead mother, and maybe Kandace was lucky but her sister (Torys mom) was somehow injured, and this is the reason why she became ill in later life and is now bedridden? That landlord even asked Kreese if he was Tory s grandfather or something. It is a mystery why her mother was never shown yet...and Kreese almost saw her when he stood in the door. Kreese indeed seems to see something of himself in Tory...maybe because she is his granddaughter without knowing it. Kreese only cares about three people, Johnny who was like a son for him, Robby because he is Johnny s son, and Tory. And now Tory and Robby are a romantic couple...Kreese would love that i am sure. Only so much: Do think its all a joke by the writers (which could be), or is a scenario like thise one maybe possible? I want to see if Kandace and her sister are twins and look the same... Only so much: Many times a daughter has more from her dad, and a son has more from his mom. We know Kreese natural hair colour is brown (young Kreese), while Betsy had like a dark blonde or light brown. We know Kandace has brown hairs like Kreese, i mean a similr colour, "like father, like daughter", and Kandace seems to be as much tough as Tory and Kreese. PS: I misseed about 10 minutes from Episode 7 which i havent seen yet. So if Torys mom was shown there (her face) then pls let me know. But i dont think so because in S9 when Sam visits Tory we didnt saw her face...

The thing is I still believe there is more to come and Miguel's time in Mexico is just set up for the future. Miguel will fight on the World Tournament stage and it was established that his father runs MMA fights, so it's reasonable that he would actually see the tournament. Now imagine you are a criminal running a violent underground martial arts matches and your son you didn't even know you had literally came to see you, never told you who he was, and then you see him one day winning a World Martial Arts tournament. Yeah it was rushed for Season 5 but I don't think we are done with the character just yet, and I couldn't easily see him become one of the bigger antagonists down the road.

Great review! You are the best, i like your style. Its so interesting to listen to your voice and thoughts. Keep it coming daily :)))) About Your critism, my thoughts about it is: Its the downside of having 10 episodes of 35min per season. You can not include everything , every storyline, every background, every emotion etc in the season, hence they include glimps of it. I found The Mexico storyline perfect. However i do like to see the actor Hector coming again in the seasons. He played it very well, a fine.actor. good dialogen, accent, voice, and his body language is awsum. It is better that Miguel did not told his father who he really is. It could cause some trouble and extra storyline with his mother and Yaya. No time for that. But the writers always told. Everyine can return back, they always leave the door open for everyone to return in forthcoming seasons. Kim da eun, storyline was vage. I liked How they did it. No much revealed, she has the no Mercy, strike hard mentality. This season was a introducing to the audience appearing. In upcoming seasons they wil surely dig in more in het past and arc (with kreese). Give the writers the time. Like you said. They are great in introducing the characters slowly in to the season , like they did with chozen abd now Barnes. Not to much, but just enough to be excited for more. I hope in a ultimate Endgame with all the Karate Kid characters (ali, kumiko, Jessica, Barnes, etc) involved! Keep going watchparty. You are the best.

He was a average player, but did win Wimbledon as only Dutch man i think. He did well. Could probably do more with his carrier in time. Dutch people are not that good in tennis. On the other hand at the Olympic Games they often win a lot of gold, silver medals for a small country as ours in sports like athletics, swimming, watersports, iceskating and some other sports. Wolrdcup is 2 weeks more to go. I am kind of looking forward to it. I always do. But it feels strange to have a world cup just before Christmas lol

I ve watched Tennis too very much in the early 90s. I was a bit too young to see Boris Becker in his prime years, which were 1985 to 1989, when he became the youngest Wimbledon Champ in history. My main interest in Tennis came at the French Open 1991, when Agassi played Becker and Jim Courier played Michael Stich in the Semi. Agassi and Courier met in the final, and Courier won it. Four weeks later, Stich won Wimbledon and his first and only Grand Slam title, beating Courier, Stefan Edberg and Becker back to back. And yes, Bruguera was a great player! He won the French Open 1993 and 1994. But i have to say the most attractive clay court Tennis iver ever seen was from the Brazilian Gustavo Kuerten, nickname Guga, who won the French Open 1997, 2000 and 2001. He defeated Bruguera in the 1997 final. This guy in his prime would have been the only guy in the past 30 yrs or so who would have a realistic chance to beat Rafa Nadal at the French Open. Sampras of course was in some way boring, but very effective. Krajicek had an stunning service but he was only a hard hitter, he had to finsh points quick. Yes he was the only dutch male player who ever won a Grand Slam ttitle. And it was great since he was the only guy who defeated Sampras in Wimbledon between 1993 and 2000. I mean i am also excited for the competition in the upcoming Soccer World Championships. But like you said we are not used to have a Soccer WC before Christmas :) Usually its in hot summers. I dont give the Germans a good shot right now. How are the Oranjes? I think France is the top favorite, but maybe its the final ice on the cake of Lionel Messis career. Wouldnt be surprised if the Argentiniens win it. If you want take a look on the newest video from WatchParty about Old Enemy never dies. I dont mean the livestream but the video he uploaded 5 days ago. I wrote there a larger text what i think is maybe still a goal for the writers about the show. Something which still isnt settled yet.

This season really did feel like a final season, tbh they really only need to wrap up Kreese and Johnny's storyline. Kind of feel like Miguel will somehow win the next tournament and maybe the new Karate Kid film might be based on something with Miguel and his dad

My criticism is that Mike Barnes was the bad boy of karate and terrified Daniel-san. He should have had more and better fight scenes, other than being knocked out, throwing one punch & a takedown in the finale, and punching the air with chozen in the furniture store.

I think season 6 will be Kreese trying to reclaim the Cobra Kai dojo with Johnny trying the same, all while Kim Da Yeoun is fighting to preserve the legacy of her grandfather. All of this while both Cobra Kai and Miyagi Fang work to train their students for the Setai Taikei (or however it's spelled).

@@watchparty1 I have question Wp that why did Kenny suddenly change his mind when he come to know about Silver bribing ref to win the all valley tourney. That doesn't fit the CK logic that Kenny believed in. What Silver has been teaching these students is that you should do whatever it takes to win. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as you win and get what you want, you're strong and someone to be feared. And Kenny has been practicing what Silver preached. He cheated during the pool race, he used deception to score the Sensei point, he used a blatantly illegal move against Hawk. So why would Silver bribing the ref be where he draws the line?

I think now the real thing we're looking for in season 6 is how Kim will transform into the sensei of Cobra Kai but not Cobra Kai the we kno the Cobra Kai that her father developed. Remember she was there to witness the fight between silver & Daniel. As a sensei she will adapt Her opportunity is to destroy chosen and Daniel's karate because Sato karate came from miagi theme season 6. Look for tung su do to go sekai tekai

I believe that chozen saying something about "children" implies that johnny will have more kids or that carmen will have twins. also, tory calling kreese grandpa seems like a meta joke as a reference to the crazy theories happening eg. tory actually being related to kreese

Let's face it, it was a stupid move on Daniel's part to cntact Silver's 'former' lawyer, since he's probably still on his payroll, even after 35 years, and this is proven to be true since Silver shows up at the sauna with what is presumably the lawyer's own phone!

Yes, it was a knee-jerk reaction by Daniel. But, it was also a poor decision by Barnes to kidnap Daniel's limo; and also a poor choice to attack Silver directly. They got lucky! Very entertaining though :-)

Personally, my ranking is: 1. Season 1 2. Season 4 3. Season 5 4. Season 3 5. Season 2 Season 5 was pretty good, but I had a couple of big issues with it. Silver got defeated too soon imo and the competition for the big tournament was done so quickly and it should’ve been the finale fight. Hawk got done dirty after his great arc in season 4, and Sam’s win honestly felt empty because she never actually lost. The finale fight’s power scaling was muddy because apparently Chozen and Johnny could take on only one of the new senseis but then they could take on all of them even with Barnes (or perhaps not including Barnes because he got knocked out).

I would agree with your raning in general, but also point out Season 5 was the best when it comes to fight scenes. It has reached a new level including a life and death encounter with a Katana vs Sai. Because the popularity of the UFC and MMA in the USA, many young people forget blunt and edged weapons belong to the martial arts cake, combat sport aka sport marital arts is only a piece of it, but not the whole cake. Marital arts isnt just a fair, 1-1 unarmed fight, thats combat sport. And i liked to see how dangerous Silver really is. I still had doubts he has the mindset of a Warrior, i thought his skills in unarmed are amazing but he has no real skills in using blunt or edged weapons, but he proved me wrong. He is a well rounded martial artist and can fight unarmed and with weapons. About the point "Silver lost too early". Honestly: Maybe yes, but after his huge win in Season 4, it was clear he wouldnt win again. Since the CK show started nobody was always the winner. It was like this: Season 1: Winner Cobra Kai Miguel wins the All Valley even if he fights dirty. Season 2: Winner Cobra Kai The school fight ended in disaster. Tory dominates Sam but in the end Sam can counter her. Their fight gets stopped. Miguel beats Robby, shows mercy, and Robby looses to his inner demons and Miguel ends up almost death. Daniel and Johnny are both devastated. After a win in Season 1, Johnny and Miguel suffer hugh losses, Miguel is in hospital, Johnny looses Carmen. But Kreese is the huge winner, he can laugh. He takes Johnnys students and gets rid of Johnny. Kreese is the winner, he is happy, while Johnny and Daniel are sad. Season 3: Draw Daniel and Johnny beat Kreese, but Kreese is able to win Robby. In Daniels house Sam is able to beat Tory, disarm her. Sam wins for Miyagi-Do, but even if they are able to defeat Kreese, they loose Robby, so they are winners and loosers. So overall a draw.' So after a huge win in S2 Kreese gets a draw this time. Season 4: Winner Cobra Kai And the name is Silver. CK wins the tournament through Silvers cheating, Silver gets rid of Kreese and takes the Dojo from him, Daniel and Johnny are the loosers. Silver can only laugh and be happy in the end, Johnny wins his son Robby back, but Daniel is the looser again and very hurt. He closes Miyagi-Do. After four Seasons the winner was either Cobra Kai or it was a draw. So it was about time that Miyagi-Do gets his first major win, and this was the case now. Not just Daniel beating Silver in the end, who was already defated by Chozen but was lucky, but also Tory and all other CK students are done with Silver and leave the dojo. Of course they could have turn it into a draw for Silver instead of a defeat.

@@chrisbach1533 The point I wanted to make was that Silver’s Cobra Kai team should’ve gotten defeated in the TaiKai tournament or tied with Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do in the finale episode. Silver’s defeat should’ve been in season 6 after Kreese escaped. Because now the big villain got defeated in the second last season and now we’re back to Kreese? Or is Silver gonna escape and plan something worse? But then, he still got defeated himself so the payoff already happened.

I liked this season but I was also a bit disappointed because I expected a little bit more after the last one. I don't share your critisim for the things you mentioned. Mexico was well done in my opinion and I didn't need to see more while Sensei Kim could have been a little bit deeper as a character, however this season had so many characters to focus on that I didn't have a problem with that. What I missed (and that I only realised a while after watching the season) was training and Eli/ Hawk. It didn't feel like the good guys were really training, especially since their dojos were closed most of the time. Because of that, victory in fighting sometimes felt quite random for me. The fight between Eli and Kenny was really one sided and I didn't like the way how the much younger Kenny dominated former champion Eli because it didn't seem natural to me. Eli had much more training and is also older and stronger. They could let Eli dominate the fight and still loose (e. g. Eli could have been 2 points in the lead and then getting knocked out by Kennys silver bullet, maybe Kenny could have played injured to lower Elis defense or something). The way drunken Johnny was able to fight 2 to 4 masters also didn't seem natural to me, I know where its coming from but Cobra Kai had been good in letting their villains seem strong and intimidating and it didn't feel consistent with the scene where he needed the help of Chozen to fight just one of them while being sober. Would have also been nice if it would have felt like Daniel was actually training hard to be able to defeat Terry. The season was still great and I really loved how Johnny and Daniel came together

I agree with you that cobra kai is pretty much the Gold standard for reviving old franchises. I think though that Terry silver while he is likely headed to prison. For assault and it also for burning down mike barnes store. Where cobra kai goes from here is not easy to predict but with all of the older kids more or less on the same side (with the exception of kenny and Anthony). The cobra kai side is likely going to have to bring in new enemies most likely from sensei Kim's dojo in Korea. I think that terry silvers arrest is also an opportunity to bring julie pierce back. What if the fact that a billionaire terry silver burning down a store and cheating to win a karate tournament makes national news? Maybe they mention daniel larusso involvement. This could prompt julie to actually call daniel and ask what's up? This would also fit well because they are almost undoubtedly going to make sensei kim fight adults next season. They usually like to pair up girls against girls and boys against boys so having julie there would likely satisfy that role. ------ On top of that given that Mike barnes is actually taking terry silver's painting to give himself money hes also going to have money, time and likely an intense motivation to get back at Terry. Given the fact that chosen is in the hospital from the sword wound and the fact that hes had plenty of screen time and an epic fight with terry silver its actually a good idea to either get chosen back to Okinawa and then see kumiko. Which could have mike barnes to have some action. Maybe they could introduce sensei Kim's father? (Since all of her other senses have been beaten) as an opponent for mike barnes? Sensei kim could take over cobra kai since she wants to continue to spread cobra kai. I dunno I think this direction might be interesting and could actually give a lot more time for two characters that didn't have much fighting this season.
