Gotta say, the Sourdough Pancake Holster I got from them is just bar none the best I've ever saw. Had mine carved too. Absolutely beautiful. Wish there were a way to post up pics in comments.

With these holsters, it is relatively easy to cc a larger, heavier revolver if the barrel is not more than 4.5/8 inches long. However, over extended times it takes a decent gun belt to avoid those pressure points as mentioned in the video.

Good video, if you feel the pressure point, well then you feel the pressure point. Everyone is built differently.

Is the pressure point a result of the gun design or holster design? On revolvers you have a big bubble cylinder symmetrical on the gun. A 1911 is flat. Can you make a flat holster for a big bubble cylinder style gun? That is, is it fair and logical to compare a big round cylinder to a flat slab side slide?

It’s the holster, you are right that the cylinder can be an issue but with a flat backed style holster it can minimize that issue and give you more comfort. I had Simply Rugged make me a flat back style holster and it fit better.

It looks like the cylinder is sticking too far on the belt side of the holster. I think it would be nice if they incorporate a flat back design

Then the cylinder just sticks out farther on the shirt side. One of the joys of carrying a revolver. I have some revolver holsters from 1791, they do have a bulge on the inside for the cylinder, and the overall thickness is about the same between a 1791 and my Simply Rugged holder. No holder can negate the diameter or curvature of the cylinder, but the offset is you don't have to hid the thicker grip and magazine as you do with a pistol.

How is the retention? With no thumb strap, would the revolver slip out?

Maybe if you’re doing upside down jumping jacks. Other than that your fine

I asked simply rugged if they would be willing to make a flatback pancake with a thumbreak. what I believe to be the ultamate pancake holster. Hopefully they can because that would make every day carry possible

I asked and they said no, I’m curious what they told you.

They made me one for around $225. I got what i paid for it was the perfect flatback pancake holster! I bicycled and climed a snowy mountain in mcarthy Alaska last spring with it and took also it moose hunting last fall and it was trouble free and comfortable the thumbreak on it was a must have in my opinion. He did an amazing job at reducing the cylinder bulge. I've tried craft holsters they charge $65. And have a thumbreak but the cylinder bulge from the ruger alaskan cuts into my hip so much I cant wear it. It would be nice if simply rugged would lower the rate for a thumbreak flatback . I still plan to buy more from them due to the custom quality.

Where can I find a flatback ruger rehawk pancake holster?
@timclaus83137 ай бұрын
Doubt you can, flatback holists work for pistols, but if you don't utilize some of the space being the belt for the cylinder, it will just protrude farther out away from your side.

I have Simply Rugged cut my holsters with only two belt slots as I don’t care for the cross draw feature. Move that gun back a little bit and you will be much more comfortable. You are a skinny fellow, and I promise that when you get that holster broken in well, you will like it much better. Guys like me, who are bigger around, can be more comfortable initially with the Simply Rugged holster. As it wears you can still keep a good snug fit on the gun. I generally carry a full size 1911 but sometimes I carry an N Frame or a SAA and after about a week of daily wear I forget I’m wearing a gun.

I have a few. They're GREAT for BIG revolvers! You can get a chest rig for extra large revolvers (SW 460, 500), that works well. They're not for concealment.
@robertsauceda47574 жыл бұрын
Bullshit they cant be concealed and conceal well. I've met Rob Leahy at several shows and have seen men conceal 5 inch 629 classics and Ruger Redhawks in nothing but a t shirt.

While I don’t own any guns this size, I liked the info for general reference. Good work as always, just honest without sugarcoating it.

So for a fat guy do you think the pulling into you would be greater or less of a problem ? Where is it sticking into you ? Appreciate your video.

Ben Jammin sadly I can't completely answer that question but I have heard from other reviewers that are more "well rounded" that they like the holster for me it was the cylinder digging into me. This was one of those holsters I really wanted to like 100% because other than that it's a really nice holster
