+MidwayShooter it truly is a total beast, LOL. I aint gonna lie - I'm not gonna be shooting a ton of 460mag. Its quite the powerhouse and a little over the top. Every time someone sees this revolver they shake their head. haha

I have one in a 5inch barrel and carry it in a chest rig for hunting. I hunwith game ears because when it is touched off with 460 without ears on it hurts your ear drums (painfully). I also handload my own with 240gr jacketed and can either load them up or down.

I have the same exact pistol. I love it. I carry it if I’m in Montana or Wyoming but that’s about it. I live in Washington so no real need for it here, except that it’s awesome haha. I carry it with a Diamond D guides choice chest rig. Works great.

I've carried it a few times, I have the 4", actually it has a 3.1" barrel then compensated to 4". Very very accurate shot 25 and 50 yards.

It's a pancake holster with three slots, hence consider to get a chest rig from Simply Rugged, it will fit perfectly and it's the way to carry such heavy firearms comfortable. It's certainly not a CCW piece for daily use in urban or suburban areas, but rather a hunting- and woods gun for protection against big animals able to cause serious trouble. Besides, the mentioned cop's concerns are plausible, but then again, every gun (even today's modern no joke airguns) in the wrong hands can inflict horrible carnage.

I have the Performance Center 460XVR with a 7.5" barrel, it's a nice middle ground between the 3.5" barrel and the 14" barrel

I like the 460, but for me the 500 seems to fit the shorter bbls - the 460 in a longer bbl. I had a 500 yrs ago and it was a hoot - and a very comical conversation piece. Ironically, I traded it for a blue Colt 1911... Nice addition - thanks for the holster vids - not everyone has an eye for quality!

For comfort and purpose, these types of heavy guns are better carried with a proper shoulder- or chest-holster system. To bind 5 LBS on a belt, it may be possible for some (if at all) only with supportive quality suspenders. However, Rob Leahy makes good holsters worth the money.

I guess this video is old but, the 460 S&W is the most versatile caliber out there. (5 different calibers); .45 Scoefield (most rare), 45 Colt, 45 Colt +P, 454 Casuall, and 460 S&W Magnum. For small barrel like this 45 Colt make the most sense for defense carry due to blast and felt recoil.

Thank you for this video; It's been very insightful and informative. I have been seriously considering this particular revolver as my every day concealed carry weapon. After seeing this video I've realized that it can be done.. However.. I'm going with A Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan instead. (Additionally - that police officer needs to be sat down, and have the second amendment, and it's history thoroughly explained to him..) Subscribing. Thanks again.

Have you thought about a Chest Mounted Holster like the one from Diamond D Holsters? Looks like a high quality Leather Holster and a smart way to distribute the Weight of that X-Frame if your planning on a woods carry setup.

I'll bet the guys from Alaska could tell you how to carry that gun. Maybe a chest rig or some type of gunbelt supported by heavy suspenders and I can't imagine that would be comfortable to carry it that way. Still, that is awesome weapon.

It is a short barrel so heavy 454 Casull is more efficient burning than the long 460 Smith and Wesson cartridge. Flame and concussion does not equate into greater performance.

I think for that one I'd look into Kramer horsehide belt scabbard. I don't have one (yet) but should be getting one in for my 327 2" at some point but a LEO I use to talk to here used one for duty for his 327 2" and swore by it so...I'm giving it a shot. Its a different revolver but I'm sure it will be a nice holster... other than that going plastic I know Comp-Tac makes an IWB that is decent and Garrett Industries might be able to make one as well.

What kind of vest is that? Do you like it? I'm looking for something similar to that for here in Arizona, it's that time of year where i can hang up the 638 and break out the 1911 but it just doesn't get cold enough to warrant a full jacket.

In the lower 48 outdoors, I prefer a 10mm. If I were in Alaska - sling a rifle / lever gun and maybe have a 10mm as a BUG - weight really limits how much of nature you can enjoy... For me an X-Frame holds a niche outside of carry.

Oh I hear ya on the ear plugs. What do you do? I mean it's perfect for Grizzly. But you'd go def. Also, isn't carrying it during hunting season in particular the point? Or Hiking in bigfoot country also? Oh, I don't believe in bigfoot myself. But so far in NW Colorado bigfoot has proven he doesn't give a shit what I believe. 🤦‍♂️🙈 I've been sporting my .460 in a cheap nylon holster. I need one of these for sure. It's to help me compensate. Yeah, when I need courage and something large is growling at me from the tree line and breaking trees I feel a bit more at ease with a .460 in my hand. The .44 wasn't cutting it.

Who can use this 460XCR 3.5" effectively (especially in double-action shooting) to be sufficient for the purpose it was meant to put to work for - a close proximity defense hand-weapon against potentially dangerous animals, or large predators like bears? A revolver version in similar size but less weight (44 oz empty) built for the same purpose would be the Ruger 44mag single action new super Blackhawk Lipsey's Exclusive with a 3.75 inches barrel. Yes, it's a single-action revolver, but who really shoots a 460 double action as time-efficient and accurate as it is possible to commission a potent 44mag single action? Speaking of raw fire-power: As the old proverb says, sometimes, lesser may be more.

That cop needs mental help hahahaha You dont need a 460 to penetrate armor theres alot of other things thatll do it. And if he thinks a 3" 460 is so dangerous try shooting a 460, 500 or a 45-70 out of a levergun with a 18" barrel.... i guess he thinks those can take down planes
