Full review of the Seiko Presage style 60s GMT! A great alternative to the 5kx GMTs. This watch definitely takes cues from vintage Seiko watches and has a classy vibe to it as well. Really like this one!

Props for mentioning the ‘Dauphine’ style hands! My 1982 Seiko 5 has the same hands and similar applied indices. A classic look. I saw this in a watch shop yesterday and I’m very tempted to pull the trigger. The caseback says ‘5 Bar’, so it’s 50m water resistance.

FYI.. The Seiko SSK015 white dial anniversary edition limited for the same price does sapphire crystal! Nice steel surround 👍

Gah!!!! I was TOTALLY down with this until you said Hardlex. Dang it. That’s a deal breaker for me. Man that’s a great lookin watch.

Main reason I don’t own any Seiko… they only out sapphire on ‘more expensive’ models and then put in a cheap caliber in there

Just how much more scratch prone is hardlex compared to sapphire?

Hardlex has a rating of 7 versus 9 for sapphire…it’s pretty scratch resistant too..but obviously sapphire is better and other brands give it to you at the same price point

Does anyone know the point of having a bezel that doesn't move? Is this just Seiko cutting corners/saving money?

Ask Rolex. Their Explorer 2 is the same. Guess they couldn't manage a rotating bezel for 10 large 😊

For a GMT, a rotating bezel simply gives you an option to track a THIRD time zone . although IMO it’s a bit convoluted to use , especially in light of the rarity someone seriously wants to track a third time zone. That probably explains why its inclusion is more the exception than the rule with GMTs…

The design and use does not require a rotating bezel; watches are not fidget spinners

Seiko hardlex is actually very good and durable I prefer it over Sapphire simply because on black and blue dials, the smudges and smears do not stand out like on Sapphire something I really hate
