@drinkwater319 9 күн бұрын
She’s definitely in shock but what really bamboozles me is that she clearly didn’t have a strategy ready for when this day came around, and she would’ve known the ‘ knock on the door ‘ was coming one day. Over the years the file and evidence held by the LAPD got smaller and smaller as someone was getting access to it and taking it. But the one thing they were after, the DNA swab from the bite mark, wasn’t being stored in the LA police’s lock ups. It was held, unknown to anyone, at the County Court building. From day 1 of the investigation into Sherry’s murder members of the LA Police were actively covering up for Stephanie. These two detectives, even after getting the DNA match, met with hostility and obstacles from other officers. Stephanie Lazarus was a very popular and well liked officer, decorated for bravery, and rewarded with a highly regarded and coveted job on the art crime team - which she eventually led….and she was excellent at her job, respected and liked by everyone she came into contact with - except maybe these two officers, who know the truth of her. Personally I think there was only one possible scenario that Stephanie could have adopted that may have seen her getting off with a jury, reasonable doubt of murder and possibly guilty of manslaughter or even justified homicide - and that starts with her keeping her mouth shut immediately…..the prosecution case against her started the moment she sat down in that interview room - and so too did the defence case. Her only chance was admitting the fight but denying she shot Stephanie. She left the house after the fight and Sherry was murdered by the two men who were seen around the building, and responsible for recent break ins, they were attracted by the conflagration from Sherry’s house and took advantage of it. Stephanie lost her police gun in the fight and that’s the weapon used by the so called ‘burglars’ to shoot Sherry……….its a bit of a convoluted defence but it does answer most questions and it’s a scenario a jury could believe was possible - a jury looking for reasons to acquit

A detective who doesn’t know when she’s clearly being interrogated about something she did. Her breathing, hand gestures, facial expressions, over explaining things that mean nothing, it’s all signs of guilt. She can’t remember lots of stuff but holy shit she can remember a lot of names of people that lived on her floor that have nothing to do with what she’s being asked.

@@dragonsky799 Depends where you live. In the uk jail and prison is the same thing. There's no holding places you just get either bale or remanded into prison or jail depending on the name of the place but it's the same thing. You can spend up to 48 hours in a police cell. But usually you go from there the following day to court then remanded. When you say jail over in the states is it a kind of holding pen where they can keep you until you see the judge?

The book is amazing. I've seen reviews that complain about the 600-page length & the amount of detail, but I found it fascinating. What it reveals (unlike all the true crime shows on tv) is just how *very* close Lazarus came to getting away with Sherri's murder. The detectives from the Van Nuys Homicide Squad, who were the ones who actually solved the crime, were so appalled by what *wasn't* in the Rasmussen file that they conducted their investigation in total secrecy, fearing that the LAPD brass would shut them down before Lazarus could be brought to justice.

She worked for the LAPD, arrested individuals under COLOR OF LAW while a Homicidal Psychopath for over 20 years. The LAPD, I believe, never intended to consider her a suspect. To save face MAYBE 🤔! Ms. Rasmussen's parents brought her name up as person who was, in their minds a suspect. She should NEVER be released back into Society. Lighting does strike twice and History does repeat itself. Please do not let this despicable, Dishonorable lier cast a Dark Shadow on Law Enforcement Officers! I've worked with and met many, many Men and Women who SOUGHT JUSTICE NOT INJUSTICE! I was one of them, I know! Ms. S. Rasmussen Requiescat In Pace! That's it, I'm finished commenting. I'm 80 years old and just when I think I've seen all I care to see! Here comes Stephanie Lazarus! Unbelievable but believable! As Always, God Bless You and Yours Take Care and Stay Safe ya' hear! I remain, with warmest regards, Most Sincerely, Michael ✌️! Nothing was gained by her slaying Sherri. She didn’t wind up with John (Soap opera much?) John in fact remarried and it was a freak lightning strike that it turned into a cold case and she remained free for 23 years. But so much damage and heart wrenching loss for literally no gain... Only pure evil, narcissistic selfishness! The only thing she has is to revel in the irony that she committed cold blooded murder and she was successful in a law enforcement career that also took her freedom.

They said that house looked like clash of the titans had occurred there. And Stephanie had all the advantages. The element of surprise, the weapons, and also, the rage. It's crazy that she would've gotten away with it had she not elected to actually bite her victim's corpse. I cant imagine what that poor woman must have been thinking.

“People think I’m crazy..” I watched this interrogation, yes YOU ARE crazy. What a psychopath. Sherri was far more beautiful inside and out. “I am sure when I leave here I will remember…”. , Leaving for a prison cell. Those crazy 👀 eyes, yikes.

It's amazing that she's a detective & has done hundreds of interviews so would know when someone sounds guilty, but that knowledge certainly didn't help her there.. ... she's a terrible liar.

"Do you know what happened to his wife?" answer: "Yeah, I know she got killed." What a strange way to describe that. 99.99 percent of people would say "Someone killed her" "She was murdered" Saying she got killed sounds like she was in a car accident or that it was her fault, but no murderer in the picture.

It is almost unbelievable that someone _this bad_ at lying and remaining composed under pressure got away with the murder for this long. I understand that some forensic technology was unavailable to investigators at that time, but they could not have investigated or questioned her properly.
