There was more to this story that wasnt posted the daughter was promised a car college and money outside college if she sided with the dad. In the end she got nothing from either of her parents and sarah admitted she got pregnant so they wouldnt have the money for her. They counted on her mom paying for everything and when she didnt emily finally started coming around. So so sad.

The AP won out in this case. They managed to alienate the daughter and ruin her relationship with her mother only to dump her when they had a kid of their own. The daughter is a manipulator and was checked by the mother. Look at her reaction upon hearing no by the mother and the response from the cheater and his AP. OP should have started her own family long before the daughter's graduation.

It’s not that easy to just “go start another family” 🤦🏻‍♀️ you don’t just go out of the house and find a suitable partner, especially in your 30’s or 40’s as a woman. It’s not that easy. Unfortunately society looks at women over 30 as “old” and over 40 as ancient. Also very hard to pregnant when over the age of 40 which there’s a big chance OP was when her daughter betrayed her and decided to go live with her “new family”

Younger children may not question they way their parent's do things or behave but teens do. And they develop their thinking on how to judge right from wrong on their own. There is no way she lived with her father and step mom, adapting to calling her mom and pretending to have a happy family with them at the expense of her actual mom and not for once realized she was wrong and hurting her mom. She simply chose to stay ignorant. May be she wanted to recreate her family dynamic and felt simply replacing her mom with step mom would suffice as a child but as a teen up until she turned 18, there is no way she didn't realize she fucked up. She had atleast a couple years to before this went down to straighten out but she chose not to. A couple years don't seem a lot to grown ups but are a lot of time for a teenager to make changes in their life. But I'm glad she is changing now, better late than never. And she has chosen to align herself with a parent who'll actually parent her into adulthood.

I'm only at 3:55. Considering Emily's previous behavior and that hadn't spoken to OP in months, yet, is suddenly upset that OP won't come to her graduation, and is trying to guilt her into coming, I think the conclusion is that she wants something, a graduation gift, money, college tuition. Edit: I really don't understand this excuse that Emily was a kid when she treated her mother the way she did. How was she still "a kid" just months before her graduation but somehow suddenly an adult when she called OP to invite her to her graduation?

Epic respect for the op standing her ground in the decision to stop the financial support for her daughter's education due to the betrayal she felt with her own husband cheating on her with his own coworker and her daughter deciding to live with her father and his cheating partner, but for those who want to judge her for making that judgement call they should ask themselves how they would feel how they would feel when they have lost everything thanks to their own spouse cheating on them and the fallout that followed afterwards, when they can answer that question then decide whether or not to judge the op down the line otherwise don't do it.

When Emily was young, Mark and Sarah could have helped foster the relationship between Emily and her mother. As Emily got older, she could have realized how poorly she treated her mom and worked on the relationship. Instead, she waited until graduation to force her mother to attend a party at Mark and Sarah's house with no compromise. She could have met with her mom to have a private reunion at any time. Then, her dad betrayed her just as he betrayed her mother, choosing the lovechild over her. And still, she only tried to get money from her mom. No one can blame the mom.
@SaRel.
@SaRel. Ай бұрын
My immediate concern is why didn't the mom immediately get therapy and why didn't she advocate for her child to get therapy through court orders or something. Its very clear that they all needed it, and it probably could have saved their relationship. 13 is a young age to make decisions like that, especially when all she's ever known is a 2-parent household; even if she was old enough to technically decide if someone was good or bad it seemed like she was extremely rattled by this whole situation and was not in the right mind to make a decision like this. Its clear that the lack of therapy to make a healthy transition of households has affected her attitude and her parents have created a huge disservice for everyone.

We don't know the details of the situation because the Ops leave out a lot because of word count. But I know from experience that it is not so easy to get the other parent into family therapy, especially when they are a narcissist. And if they are able to poison the child against the other parent it can make even individual therapy for the child near impossible.
@SaRel.
@SaRel. Ай бұрын
@shells500tutubo I know this too, but it seemed like the mother herself waited a while to even get into therapy. I also don't really know the specifics of court ordered actions like therapy and management classes, but there are some options to help spectate divorce cases like these and it didn't seem like she exercised them properly. It seems like OP's emotions were getting ahead of her and not allowing her to make proper decisions for herself or her child, therapy could have at least assisted her in court.

Yeah, it's hard to tell, but how she acted at the graduation had alarm bells ringing. Daughter asks her to come, mom refuses to go because of "consequences", really hurts her daughter's feelings then shows up out of the blue anyway. Then, her daughter couldn't even enjoy her party and accomplishments, because op decided that was a good time for her to take daughter outside and dump a whole lot of financial stress on her. She doesn't have an obligation to support OP through college, but why choose that moment to tell her? It does seem petty and vindictive. It's clear OP holds a lot of resentment toward her ex, so I also wonder how many times the daughter had to hear about it, be guilt tripped for having a relationship with him, and be threatened with consequences when she didn't pick OP's side. I mean, I could be wrong, but from what OP did tell us, she seems kind of immature and enjoys hurting her daughter's feelings because OP is feeling bitter.
@rdcdragonar4726
@rdcdragonar4726 Ай бұрын
@@OOhlUkaTmEImGanSTa I don't think OP enjoys hurting her daughter. She has just put up with the "perfect family" act from her ex, his mistress, and her daughter for years. She likely just stopped caring and realized her daughter only wants her for money. Which is exactly what she wanted when she invited OP to the graduation. You don't just choose the cheating parent, slowly limit contact and then actively avoid the other one. Then call a homewrecker mom in front of your mother that wants to spend time with you. Then call her out of nowhere to invite her to a graduation without expecting something. They were likely gonna ask OP to stay after the party and then ask about how she plans to pay/help pay for the daughters college. You don't just suddenly care for someone you have cared about in 5 years.

Feels like there's more to this story than OP is letting on... Most of this story was OP just complaining about being hurt emotionally for 5 years, and she glossed over where Emily mentioned her dad and stepmom were pretty much poisoning her to be against her mother. How about we delve deeper into that? Emily was 13 when her sorry excuse for a dad couldn't keep it in his pants and tore the family apart. That is very young and an easy age to manipulate. Wouldn’t be surprised if the dad was poisoning her mind against her mom before the affair was found out. That would explain the whole "dad's house is a more stable environment" bit.

This story is changed there is like 170% more drama. Real story unfolded more quickly, or its 2 stories bumped together, the OP was hurt because daughter put a photo of afair partner on Inst. calling her mom. The college money was gone though OP bought a house for hersef.

My advice to OP is to wait. IF Emily truly wants a relationship now, let her do some of that without your money. 14:00-ish Sounds good. I just started, and maybe the daughter left for the same reason the husband did. The family home wasn't "stable" or happy because mom was not nice. A nagging, controlling, yelling wife and mother drives the husband away and the kids. Then they, being narcissists, try to play victim instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. They blame the actual victims ,shifting the blame. Her not going to her daughters graduation is spiteful revenge because her daughter wanted a safe, happy, stable home with her dad not the horrible home with her she always had. Now the narcissist mom writes this unless it's fictional, to play victim. Readers, get in touch with reality.

So you know the part where she said she got bombarded with text from Mark, Sarah and Emily‘s friends like if a bunch of 18-year-olds or 17-year-olds are texting me about how selfish I am to not go to my daughters graduation because her father the woman who cheated on me with and Emily would all just act like some big happy family like what the hell

There is something here that the OP isn't telling us. It's very odd that a daughter would end up with the father even if she made that request without something else being in play. Additionally, OP would still be required in many places to still support her daughter through college. Emily is now 18. She can take her mother (OP) to child support court on her own to force her to assist Emily though college. The father would not get the money. Emily would get it directly.

@@dwaynejackson551 like I said, it depends on the state. I'm from Pennsylvania. If the child goes to school beyond high school, both parents are still responsible to assist with putting the child through college. The payments often go directly to the child after he or she is in postsecondary school. Not all states require it though.

You know what this sounds like? This sounds like she was fed some BS story of the affair or she decided to delve deep into teen angst just to drive the knife deeper and push OP away. Then when she wants the mothers he threw away to be there for her, it’s like a slap in the face because she wants a “happy family” and OP won’t give in means this was just nothing more than wanting to hurt OP more. The “I was just a kid” excuse doesn’t work in this because she was old enough to know what she was doing when she purposely decided to constantly brag he great her life was with her dad and “new mom”. I’m happy OP did what she did because she knew she was an outsider (as shown by her daughter and ex husband’s reactions to her presence). Now she no longer has a financial responsibility to the daughter who purposely turned her back on her mother. And the fact that the ex-husband basically wanted to still leech off OP for finances but it just proved they all just wanted money. Though honestly before doing this, OP should have basically had an exit plan so she could have moved after dropping that bombshell. And the apology phone call once the reality of her situation came out, only for OP to completely set her boundaries and Emily to throw a tantrum, just confirmed the call only happened because Emily an’t use tears to get money again…evident by all the flying monkeys. At least OP was able to begin a better relationship with Emily..though karma came late to Mark and Sara

Some people are not going to like this opinion but I don't blame the daughter I blame dad and stepmom because here's the thing clearly they manipulated her to be the situation that allows them to basically destroy the poster in the story and you got to remember when you manipulate a child with promises of college funds and being able to give them whatever they want because of all this money you supposedly tell them that you have of course they're going to go with the parent that has the ability to show them and do that for them yeah it's not right the way the daughter approach the situation and how she treated the poster but you got to remember she didn't just turn around like that for nothing and started acting out the way she did towards the poster for nothingcuz if the daughter was really that terrible she wouldn't just apologize and start wanting the poster back in her life she wouldn't just agree like okay Mom you're right I have to go get a job and don't get me wrong I understand the daughter didn't take it right when she was told all that the first time but now she understands that that is something she's going to have to do because she only has one more parent left and of course she doesn't want to lose that one parent that was trying to show her and show her the truth of her father and stepmom so yeah and the only reason I'm defending the daughter is because the of you study psychology and you understand a child that is being manipulated by intoxicated with that much money and being able to show them that they can buy them anything yeah they're going to take the side of that parent because like I said that side looks more stable to them because they're so used to seeing how many works in the household as the very thing that gives them clothes food a roof over their head all that

I have always hated that. It forces you to listen while doing something else, and I prefer reading these stories. It is impossible with that format. I guess it is to prevent people fast forwarding, because the KZfaq algorithm picks up on that and sees it as not read, cutting down on the monetization. I usually go into the settings and set it faster so I can finish quicker.

OP needs to buy a big mirror and take a good long look at herself. She likes to point the finger at everyone but herself. Instead of going to the party with congratulations she went to confront a teenager. That was not the time or place. I think daughter was offering an olive branch when she invited op to graduation. Instead of being a good mother op put the blame on daughter. I can see why daughter kept distance. Right or wrong it doesn't matter but OP hated her ex more than she lived her child. Thats why daughter went to dad. Im glad she was able to keep boundaries even if i don't agree with how she did it. OP needs to find a way to communicate with her daughter that is respectful to how daughter thinks and communicates, not the other way around. She also needs to let go of her marriage. She's obviously not over it and i think the daughter gets caught in the net. Hopefully they find the best relationship for them. I forgot my son is an adult, he's not 10 anymore. They are different people, there relationship will be different but it can still be as close.

These comments are CRAZY. This is her child. Mom has the right to be upset her daughter wants to live with dad, but should accept it. There is nothing wrong with hr wanting to be with dad. Mom and dad’s issues have to be set aside for the child. Life sucks, but there is more to it than just you, especially if you have children. Mom is seeing now what most dads go through with a divorce.

OP is in the wrong. She made her love for her daughter contingent on her daughter being affectionate towards her. Then she chose daughter's high school graduation party as the time to tell her she was being financially cut off. It is understandable that OP was hurt. But her daughter isn't the one who hurt her. Minor children SHOULD be free to make the choice that is best for them without being burdened by their parents' emotional baggage.

@@aum1040 EVERYTHING she did counts as her being bad, although less bad than Mark and Sarah, who manipulated her. Emily is now eighteen, and she is aware of how badly she treated Op, and the three of them laughed at Op behind her back while counting on her financial support every month. Mark and Sarah facilitated and encouraged the disrespect she showed her mother, probably to get more child support by getting more custody time. Parents are human beings, and there is no such thing as unconditional love except maybe for young children. Emily's persistent and repeated mistreatment of her mother cased Op to forget she ever gave birth to her.

@@shells500tutubo You say everything she did was bad, yet you can't even state a single example? Be precise. What did she do that merited her mother using her graduation party to cut her off? We hear tales of children cheating, bullying, stealing, committing acts of violence and abuse all the time. What did this girl ever do that was even remotely outside the bounds of a typical 18 year old. OP is bitter at her divorce and decided to take this bitterness out on her daughter, because she has no recourse against her ex husband (except through their daughter).
