here's a quick summary of what happened at 2:43 (yeah, I was so curious about the missed part I went on Reddit myself) basically, MIL did NOT outright apologize to the OP, and only told her that she's sorry her actions might've hurt her son/OP's husband. OP was rightfully furious and later on refused to accept MIL's invitation for Thanksgiving. MIL only delivered a half-assed apology and tried to plead "BuT wE aRe FaMiLy, families don't tell on each other!" to OP, basically refusing to accept what she's done was wrong. the next part is about an accident OP's cousin-in-law was in. CIL was staying with OP and her husband sometimes, as she was attending college in their city. CIL is described as a really sweet girl, and OP and her husband really like having her over. however, she's struck by a drunk driver one day as she's returning from her classes. that's it for the skipped part

The MIL is probably just a terrible person, but just in case, it might be a good idea to have her tested for dementia (possibly early on set) or even a UTI depending on her age. Just being old doesnt suddenly make you a terrible person, but dementia can cause pretty bad personality changes or escalation in pre-existing behavior. In older individuals a UTI can also cause neurological changes, to the point that some older individuals were tested for dementia when it turned out the symptoms went away after being treated for the UTI.

My MIL actually took that shot at me, too. She did it when it was just us in the room. But I knew her well enough to know that I couldn’t show weakness to her over it, or she would have used it against me again. So I acknowledged that she was right in the fact that I did not have any children and that I could not have them while staring her down. And then I went right back to our original disagreement without raising my voice. I had said for years that she was a mean-spirited person. This was just one of her minor examples.

Here's my summary of the story (it has pretty much nothing else about the job): MIL is at the airport for several hours because the ticket is early next morning. She conveniently "forgot" her wallet and husband had to drive it to her and has hours long talk with MIL. A cousin gets into a car accident and her mom (MIL sister) + MIL come back into town to help her at the hospital. MIL doesn't make arrangements to stay anywhere and expects to stay with her son (husband) + OP. OP sticks to her guns about not letting her back and asks the MIL sister where she's staying and suggests that MIL stay at that hotel too. MIL gets a cab back to OP house anyway and goes off on the gate guard, and nearly gets arrested for her tantrum. OP hangs out with cousin and brings her snacks. MIL shows up with McDonald's food and cousin says she's already full from snacks. MIL gets upset she can't do anything right, and proceeds to tell cousin she'll get fat eating only snacks and needs real food. MIL is told to leave and she goes at OP and is stopped by security. Full rage at this point and throws a drink at OP and item at a guard before booking it out of the hospital. OP knows that MIL new flight doesn't leave till tomorrow and that her husband wants to get lunch with her, so they attend. OP takes a minute to explain to readers how they aren't really trying for a baby and might not be able to, but adopting an older kid from foster care could be a possibility. Back to the lunch and MIL is talking about babies and how OP and husband will need her to stay with them when the baby comes. MIL fully expected them to have babies and her to be the live-in granny as her retirement plan. Husband explains they won't be having babies, and it won't be necessary. MIL takes this as a complete shock and decides to say, "If your wife was a real woman," she'd have a place to stay in her twilight years. Husband gets OP out of there quick, and they agree to completely cut off MIL. No more access to their life, no more money, nothing unless husband wants to spend his time or money on her. My opinion is OP messed up by not having her files secure, but MIL is insane and unhinged. Good on husband for sticking up for OP emotionally.
