the “give me the controller” feeling is very real. the main reason we all feel it i think is because we always think we are controlling the hammer, or the man, but in reality we control his ARMS. once i got to orange it stopped for me.

I actually love this game, for some reason the movement jivved with me enough to beat it again after my first win. After 20 wins or so you can beat the game without really focusing on the game itself, so now when im in a call with friends and i need to fiddle with something i open getting over it, beat the game in around 5-10 minutes, close game. Great turn brain off game after enough hours.

Bennet Foddy did I think all of the visuals for Ape Out, a hotline-like with a lineless artstyle and a soundtrack with only drums. Very fun, breaks the rage game trend he has.

Getting over it is such a soothing game to watch gameplay of, it's unfortunate how so many people go to screaming with it. I love the extremely level headed vibe grayfruit has while playing

As someone with 115 hours in Jump King, I can tell you that once you've spent some time with it, you'll realize that it has really good level design with tons of possible shortcuts to make getting back up easier. Also, the movement is super consistent, so you'll eventually grow a pretty good muscle memory for obstacles.

Mountain Dick sounds like a bad translation of a Jojo Stand

Just starting the vod as someone who has never played Getting Over It myself, although I have put about 200 hours into Jump King. Jump King is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time. The spritework, the characters, the level design, the sound design, the music, and the mechanics are all awesome. After playing as much as I have of the base game and its two DLCs, I think Jump King paces out everything it throws at you extremely well. And for as much as I love it, I never really had an interest in Getting Over It. Partly because of the vibe it gave off, which you and chat came up with plenty of ways to describe, but also because of the controls. Again, I haven't played this, but seeing the sort of mouse movements the game required just really turned me away. Even though mastering control is also part of Jump King's gameplay, the control scheme as a whole is much more approachable, I feel. I dont really know what my point was with this ramble but Gray if you ever play Jump King i will ascend spiritually

25:17 Diogenes is in Indie Pogo so I think that might be what the chatter was referring to. He's honestly kinda fun to play but has an annoying ability to duck into his pot to avoid damage. Also I do recommend Indie Pogo to anybody but it takes a bit to get used to controls and you can't just try and play it like smash bros.

Since you've said that you're interested in the programming of this game, how do they know when you've been falling for a long time: There are lots of "checkpoints" scattered across all the game, and when you reach such a "checkpoint" the game looks at what your previous one was For example, there is one checkpoint around the orange, and another one around the slide, and when you cross the slide checkpoint right after the orange, the line triggers As easy as that)

Something I never considered was you trying out Rivals of Aether, especially with all the stupid ass workshop characters.

"Pretentious" is exactly the vibe I get from this game, but it's mostly because of one thing: Bennet Foddy called people who watch other people play the game "too weak to do it themselves" or something like that, which pissed me off something fierce. Like, dude, you released a ragebait game that you have to *pay money* to play, and then you have the audacity to get mad that people would rather watch internet personalities play it than buy it and play it themselves?

Oh god, the forced looping YTshort, I hate it too, even the first one I saw felt cringe.

I like how a bunch of youtube reviewers trashed this game when it came out because they couldn't beat it, and now there are speedrunners that can beat it in under a minute. It truely *was* a skill issue.

While I appreciate it at leasts acknowledges Sexy Hiking, this game (along with most of the other streamer-bait games like Jump King) feels so disingenuous compared to the game it’s based on. It’s definitely pretentious too in that it makes itself out to be way more than it is (a rage bait game based on an interesting idea in a very old flash game). But maybe it’s just the insufferable dialogue that makes the whole thing feel so fake idk. While Sexy Hiking was also sort of ironic with all the weird reused assets, shitpost-y title screen, and midi DKC tracks, it still came off as an earnest attempt at executing a novel idea. I’ve always disliked Getting Over It and it wasn’t until I discovered Sexy Hiking through your channel that I could finally put into words why I so strongly dislike it (and games like it).

This game is good but so UNBELIEVABLY pretentious, I honestly prefer playing it and Golfing Over It with the dialogue off.

It takes me three minutes to beat this. This guy is doing a two parter. Lol.
